IVF and NHS wait times

Myself and my partner have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility after trying for over 2 years and never falling pregnant. We have had all tests through the NHS, the first being Jan 2021. I finally had my appointment to go on the list for IVF last week but have to re do all the tests as they were over a year old.

I was just wondering if anyone is in a similar position or has been and can tell me how long they had to wait between going on the list and having the IVF? The doctor last week was less than helpful and didn't know (just shrugged her shoulders when I asked) but that's another story...

It depends what area you are in was your appointment today with the IVF clinic or gynaecology?

I had my first appointment with IVF Wales in December, tests done in Jan. First cycle end of March. I just started down Reg today for 2nd cycle. I was referred in May 2021 but was told there was a backlog due to Covid-
That's cleared in Wales now.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for replying Daffodil

Last appt was with gaene. I have to have more tests then they said go on the list when done. I'm in the south of England. That's a lot quicker than I was expecting but understand in a different are!

Here’s my timeline so far re tests/appointments on NHS. I’m East Midlands though.

Tests started Aug 2021 by doctor (bloods etc)
referral to fertility clinic late Jan 2022
appointment at fertility clinic March 2022
then ultrasound/HSG within 8 weeks after that
Follow up fertility clinic May 2022 - referral for IVF
First ivf consultation appointment end of June 2022

shot in dark guess about starting IVF round - Aug/September time

@TopSecret99

Tests with GP between November December January inc OH SA.

Referral to fertility clinic. Consultant check telephone app Feb - application for funding made, received very quickly ... maybe within 3 weeks. Protocol given in March. Could have started the following month but we were not mentally ready. HSG as advised to tick a box April.

Felt ready to start this month but no space this month. Next month there is space but we are starting August for scheduling reasons.

All in all, I think it's been really quick. From all our tests being done and being referred to the fertility clinic, we could have started 2/3 months later. X

Wow that is quick! @FlyOnTheWall89

Hopefully won't have to wait too much longer then. It's already been 18 months since we went for our first GP app, I think we got stuck in the covid back log Sad

And best of luck to all going through this.
