Hi everyone,

My first time posting here after spending the last few weeks following some of your IVF/ICSI journeys which I’ve found really helpful during what feels such a lonely time!

I’m 29 and we have male factor infertility.

Currently 4dp5dt (1st cycle) and wanted to reach out to see if anyone else is in their (dreaded) 2WW? Or has had a successful first cycle.

I’d love to connect with you and share journeys.

xxxx

@flowersinmay I totally know the feeling, I keep my tests next to the bedside table and check them through out the night, or on my desk (when wfh) during the day 🤣 I’m such a pragmatic person, until it comes to IVF!

was today’s your otd? How’s it gone? X

flowersinmay · 11/07/2022 22:27

@Agapanthus13 aww glad I'm not the only one! It went well thank you for asking💜, I've got a scan booked for 27th July. The clinic receptionist was really congratulatory when I booked my scan - she's seen me walk through the doors with bad news so often! Really really hoping it's going to be ok and stick🤞 I've actually also just cancelled my flight tomorrow, I was meant to be flying to see my parents abroad (they live in a big city in Europe) but I've decided that I just really don't want to risk it at this stage - what with a crazy heat wave I couldn't face public transport in these temperatures and also I'm putting myself more at risk to get Covid and I'm worried that could have a negative impact in the first trimester. Feel like I've come so far it would be silly to risk anything now. So I FaceTimed my parents and told them my news - there were lots of tears! They think I'm doing the right thing by not coming. My dad started getting super excited, I had to keep reminding him it's super early days and anything can happen!

How are you? How is the medication etc going? Is your transfer next week or week after? Hope you're feeling positive!🤞💪 xoxo

flowersinmay · 11/07/2022 22:28

@Agapanthus13 also.. I hope work isn't too crazy for you at the moment! Xox

Agapanthus13 · 11/07/2022 22:53

@flowersinmay awwww that’s so so lovely to hear (the happy news & scan booking- not the holiday cancelling!) Such a shame to not be able to go visit your parent, but I totally understand your decision, it’s such a massive journey to have gone through, you’d regret it if anything happened (even if it were unlikely linked). Hope you’re resting up and taking it all in- bet you want to shout it from the roof tops!!

im doing fine thanks. Been a bit emotional- assuming it all the hormones coming / going. I’m currently meds free so it’s all my own crazy hormones 🤣 will start them again on Thursday providing all looks fine on the scan. Just deciding whether to do imuno testing the go (did you do any?) and will be adding in blood thinning jabs this cycle too so fingers crossed that’s will solve our issues xx

Agapanthus13 · 11/07/2022 23:15

@flowersinmay ps which of the superstition did you follow? Perhaps I need to sack of the kale smoothie & head to macDs?! 🤣

flowersinmay · 12/07/2022 05:59

@Agapanthus13 awww totally understandable to be emotional, it's so tough. It's exciting you start meds soon, I feel like it's come around quite quickly even though I know it probably feels like an age for you?

I actually got my partner to have sex with me the night before we had an embryo transfer - it was not in anyway romantic (poor guy!) I just wanted him to coat my insides! 😂 there is some research to suggest that sperm helps! So definitely worth a try I think? I also did have Macdonald's fries and a cheeseburger after the transfer which I know didn't help but I did really crave something salty and fatty! This time the nurse also gave me a blood thinner injection, but only one to take in the very early morning the day after embryo transfer. Then it was back to my usual meds. I didn't do any genetic testing on the embryos or anything else- my clinic is quite basic and offers a very standard service. I was contemplating going somewhere a bit more high tech if these rounds didn't work out with them.

I hope your scan goes well - keep me updated. Really rooting for you for this round. Xox

flowersinmay · 15/07/2022 09:16

@Agapanthus13 did you have your scan? Everything ok? Do you have a date for your transfer? Thinking of you! Xox

Agapanthus13 · 15/07/2022 18:05

@flowersinmay hi lovely, thanks for asking. All well at my scan yesterday and I took my trigger in the afternoon 👍 booked in for my transfer next Thursday so keeping everything crossed.
how are you getting on? Xx

flowersinmay · 15/07/2022 18:51

Oh great news!!!!@Agapanthus13 that's really exciting. I really think you're going to get there soon - especially as you've already been pregnant before, just a matter of a few goes and statistics! I'm really excited for you, Thursday is just around the corner!🤞😊 hope you're feeling ok about it all?
I'm ok so far thanks! I've got 12 days until my first scan which feels like a lifetime away as you can imagine! I've not got any symptoms really, apart from having a nap in the afternoon- but think that's the heat and maybe the medication? Xox

flowersinmay · 20/07/2022 18:43

@Agapanthus13 heeey how you doing? Have you got your transfer tomorrow? Best of luck keep me updated! 💜🤞

Agapanthus13 · 21/07/2022 17:23

@flowersinmay aw thanks for remembering lovely. Yes, I had my transfer this afternoon, it wasn’t as smooth as the others (rather uncomfortable) but overall the dr was happy so I’m happy. I went for my usual kale smoothie after but tempted by fish & chips this eve 🤣 also totally forgot to have sex, I was just drifting off when I remembered and the thought of the alarm going off in 5hrs was enough for me to say no 😂
how are you getting on? X

flowersinmay · 21/07/2022 17:34

@Agapanthus13 Yey well done for surviving! Even if it was a bit tricky your embryo is on board which is the main thing. Hope you're feeling ok - you can still have sex so go go go! ;) I read it also helps in the few days after transfer so definitely think it's worth a shot - and YES to fish and chips, sounds super yum!

I'm ok - quite exhausted this morning, I don't know if it's pregnancy symptoms, the heat, medication, or maybe a mixture of all of those! According to my pregnancy tracker I am 15% through my pregnancy which sounds quite a lot?! I have my viability scan next Wednesday so I'm really really hoping that it's going to be ok!

Send love and positive vibes your way! You've got this 💪💪💜💜

Agapanthus13 · 21/07/2022 17:50

@flowersinmay haha, thanks. The article I was reading was more about climaxing being good to ivf due the rush of blood - was what you read different? I’m pretty crampy this time, I’m guessing that’s due to the procedure?!

That sucks, sorry to hear you’re feeling a bit crappy, to be fair, the heat has been pretty unbearable this week! your exhaustion is prob a mixture of all those things, and I guess your hormones will be all over the place with the added meds. My clinic always remind me to listen to my body, so if you’re tired make sure you take it easy and look after yourself! Xx that’s soo exciting, keeping everything crossed for your scan, keep me up dated xx

flowersinmay · 21/07/2022 18:03

@Agapanthus13 oh interesting I didn't read that - it was about the sperm actually making the womb somehow more hospitable for the embryo, so I think my aim was just to give my insides a good coating of sperm in the hope the embryo would stick around! Worth I try I guess?!

Xox

Agapanthus13 · 21/07/2022 18:18

@flowersinmay i wish I’d asked the dr today, just felt like an awkward one 🤣 she did a ‘thorough clean’ saying you need to ensure there’s no mucus etc in there!!

flowersinmay · 27/07/2022 13:19

@Agapanthus13 hey lovely how are you doing? Just wanted to check in with you to see how you're doing and if you're ok - hope you're managing to look after yourself and stay distracted, sending love your way xox

Agapanthus13 · 27/07/2022 13:32

@flowersinmay hi lovely how are you? Is it today you have your scan? Thinking of you and hope all goes well.- keep me up dated!
im ok thanks. I’ve had a really stressful few days at work, they’ve decided to change the wfh policy which causes issues for me as we’ve moved house and got a dog in the last couple of years on the understanding the previous policy was permanent. Just trying to work though my options! On the ivf front I tested early and got a faint positive (which is awesome) so now I’m manically testing every few hours to see if it’s still there 🙈! Last time I got a positive, it got stronger until day13 then faded away. Ivf honestly turns me loopy!!! I’m cautiously happy but it feels more like ‘the ivf just hasn’t failed’ rather than ‘it’s worked’ I’m only 6dp5dt to Will wait and see if it’s still positive on otd before getting excited!! Xxx

flowersinmay · 27/07/2022 13:49

@Agapanthus13 aww that's great news - cautious optimism! I'm so pleased you're showing positive signs already, I understand you want to take it slowly though - day by day, celebrate the small steps, it's all you can do with ivf!

Sorry to hear about work, that sounds really stressful, I hope you can get a resolution, it's not fair that they've changed the policy and not good timing for it to be happening now!

I did have my first scan and there was a heartbeat so I'm feeling slightly more relieved than I was yesterday. Definitely shed a few happy tears during the scan. Obviously still a long journey ahead though so trying to take it step by step. Still can't believe it's real. Xox

Agapanthus13 · 27/07/2022 13:59

@flowersinmay aww that’s wonderful news, must have been amazing to see / hear a heartbeat? I can’t imagine what it must be like! Really happy for you lovely xx

And thanks for your kind words, really appreciate them. I think day by day is a way to protect ourselves from all the hurt. X

flowersinmay · 27/07/2022 17:56

@Agapanthus13 yes it was really nice to hear an actual heartbeat so early, I know I have a long way to go though and anything can happen so trying not to get too excited. Keep me updated, really hope this one sticks for you. 🤞💜

flowersinmay · 01/08/2022 13:39

@Agapanthus13 hey lovely how are you doing? Have you been testing? Hope those positives are getting stronger.. you must be nearing otd now? Hope you're ok, I've been thinking of you!

I'm doing ok, I've had back pain the last two days - I think it's muscle related. So I've been on the sofa trying to heal! Had such a lazy weekend which I felt a bit bad about but I guess I shouldn't complain, it feels like it's getting better now! I googled it and I can also be pregnancy related - something to do with the hormones. Not sure if it's linked or not! Still agggges to wait until next scan! Counting down the days! Sending love! X

Agapanthus13 · 01/08/2022 17:29

Aww lovely to hear from you @flowersinmay sorry to hear you’ve had back pain, totally incapacitates you doesn’t it! I did read that it can be related to your body adjusting and accommodating growing embie! A weekend of rest has probably done you some good. When is your next scan? Is there an option to go for a private one at 9weeks or is that just not the done thing? Must be so hard to go from being seen every day to having to wait 6weeks! Are you still doing home tests or are you managing to relax in and enjoy it?

ive reached otd yay 🙌 I actually went to do bloods today. They don’t do them as standard but I wanted to know what mine are, I’m then going back Wednesday to see if they’ve doubled. She said my levels were good but I’ll need to some research when I get home to see what they actually mean. Did you get bloods done? X

flowersinmay · 02/08/2022 10:03

@Agapanthus13 Yey I'm so pleased for you! This is very exciting, congratulations on getting to otd and with positive tests!!! Really hope you get positive beta results too 😊 I never did bloods - they told me a test was enough and then I had to wait around 2 weeks after otd for a viability scan! I had a feeling this one would work out for you but didn't want to say anything in case I jinxed it for you! I have a good feeling for you this time though😊🤞
I'll be 10 +5 at my next scan.. I'm 7+4 today, so I think I will wait for it and not book any more scans privately (although it's super hard!). Felt a bit nauseous this morning but always feel better once I've eaten! I've stayed away from the pregnancy tests ever since my first scan.. still don't have the heart to throw them all away.. I've got 8 tests showing positives sitting on my bedside table! Sending love and positive vibes your way! 😊

Agapanthus13 · 03/08/2022 17:43

@flowersinmay gosh 7weeks already, that’s soo exciting! According to the online calf’s I’m 3+6 so 4weeks behind you (which makes sense xx) I’m really glad to hear you’ve managed to relax into it a little more. Are you feeling excited now?, gives me hope that you’re no longer testing daily, I might get there eventually!! I woke up with really painful cramping yesterday followed by a faint line so I had lots of cry’s through out the day, but went for my second beta today and got my progesterone levels checked too and all is ok., it’s been a very tense day waiting for results. My beta is 1864 which is apparently pretty high! My scans booked for just under 2weeks time 😳
Hows your back feeling? And hope you’ve got a tasty snack drawer on the go for those nauseas moments xxx

flowersinmay · 04/08/2022 08:37

@Agapanthus13 aww I'm honestly so excited for you (and for us!☺️). How are you feeling? Today I woke up feeling absolutely awful and proceeded to vomit in the toilet (lovely). I didn't think I'd get proper sickness as I had been okish up until now and my mum never had problems, but apparently that's not going to be the case! Feeling so much better now though. I feel sorry for my partner - he's had to clean up the mess and serve me in bed all morning - I've just sent him to the shops to get some crisps and ginger! Poor guy! Luckily still working from home so can get away with it.
Oooh wonder if it's twins if your beta is that high? Definitely sounds very very positive! I am feeling excited - I've even picked out baby names already (maybe getting a bit ahead of myself but it was more fun than googling miscarriage rates). Xox
