First IVF Consultation

Hi

I have my first appointment with the gynaecology consultant tomorrow at my fertility clinic.

What can I expect? I've had scans and blood tests performed and my partner has had a SA. Been trying for almost 2 years but I have stage 4 endometriosis (excised) and partners SA results also picked up issues.

Will it just be an info gathering appointment or will we be able to discuss treatment plans?

Also how long does this appointment last? It's over the phone but wondering if it's a quick 5 minute appointment or do you get some decent time?

I don't think it will be 5min, mine was about 30' and we talked about my medical history and my options. It was my chance to ask a few questions as well, but I tend to talk a lot, so maybe it's not how it was supposed to go.

Good luck x

Thank you @IsabelHerna ..I'm hoping it is a longer appointment too, fed up of being shooed out of medical appointments my whole life!

@Skincareaddict mine was about 30 mins and went through all the tests we had done so far.... The gynae was pretty straightforward and suggested he apply for the funding for us even if we didn't want to use it straight away. He wanted a few extra tests done too, so he noted those down and got my booked in. Hopefully it kick starts a new chapter of your TTC journey. I found it helpful!

What has your experience been like ? I am also just going in for my first appointment!
Thank you in advance!

@Minamina

My call was a 30-ish min consultation which just ran through mine and my partners history, including general medical history, any medication we are on, results of investigations so far (have details of these ready just in case the info hasn't come through to the hospital, as it hadn't in my case).

Consultant said I require an AMH blood test (private, £100) and a HSG. I have just had these due to waiting list - next step, consultants secretary is to apply for funding for my ivf.

Good luck!
