Weight loss for IVF 2021/2022

WeightlossKin · 22/11/2021 20:24

I need to lose three stone to qualify for IVF. I've got one to lose for my referral and two more after that for treatment.
Creating this for myself and for others who might want to buddy up!

@Lakyta1717 that's the hardest thing isn't it? I feel like it doesn't matter how hard or little I try the results seem to be the bloody same!
I've barely moved today 😬 idk why! Always move less when I work from home. Will get up early in the AM to do exercise before work, meeting friend for catch to after work and then have a lovely curry to come home to. I'm going to have to get up at like 6am to get the curry in the slow cooker and exercise and shower before work. 😂 Not sure how people manage!!
Praying and crossing everything for a 2lb loss this week. 🤞 Yes please weight loss gods.
Oh no 🙁 just realised it's Thursday tomorrow. Gotta live through Thursday AND Friday. Boo! Where is the weekend?!

@WeightlossKin @Lakyta1717 thank you both ❤️ I’ll probably still be lurking at the chat every now and then to see how you both are getting on ☺️

Lakyta1717 · 26/02/2022 11:57

Hey @WeightlossKin hope Thursday and Friday went quick for you so you can enjoy the weekend! I woke up Friday thinking it was Saturday, so was gutted to have to go to work 😂 so glad it's the weekend now!

Feeling really proud of myself this week - I've stuck to my meal and exercise plans so well! I was thinking I'd probably have slipped up by now, but I've managed all the meals on plan and snacked so much less than I have been. I've even just done my third bike session too, just popped on a YouTube video and cracked on with it. Even on Thursday night when I just could not be bothered, I got my ass up the stairs put on my workout gear and just did it. Was reading my book while cycling and next thing I knew I'd done the 30 minutes 😊 really happy that I've stuck to it. Still not saying I enjoy exercise though 😂 but I'm determined to make it a part of my routine.

I've also decided I'm going to go back to slimming world - I already basically follow the plans and I'm also hoping it will help me to stop my obsession with weighing myself as I'll have just the weekly groups to weigh in at. I'll still weigh at home on the day, but not every day of the week which is what I currently do (I even get anxious if I'm away and can't weigh, so it shows how unhealthy that is for me!).

Hope you've had a good week and a wonderful relaxing weekend. I'll let you know how weigh in goes tomorrow! Then from next week, it'll be every Saturday that I weigh in on. Actually excited about it this week 🤷🏼‍♀️🧐 very weird feeling!

WeightlossKin · 26/02/2022 13:23

@Lakyta1717 my sympathies! I spent all day Thursday thinking it was Friday 😂
Well done! 💪⭐❤️ You should be so proud of yourself! So easy to say 'I can't today' especially after a hard day but you're totally smashing it and powering through which is so hard. I'm not convinced anyone REALLY enjoys exercise unless they're already super fit and slim. People who do it for weight loss or because they feel they have to... It can't be the same!
I mostly follow slimming world (although I'm taking a break and trying 5:2 intermittent fasting for the next few weeks) so will be happy to hear about how you're doing or finding it! I am the worst for weighing. I've weighed myself three times today 😳 I'm not even sure why. Originally it was fun curiosity 'what do I weigh now I've had breakfast?' and 'what do I weigh after that glass of wine last night' but it's definitely gone a bit bonkers. I'd really like to work on only weighing on my 'official' weigh in day which is tomorrow.

I'm crossing everything that you get the loss you deserve for your efforts! 🤞

As I said I've been giving 5:2 a go this week as I just want to get my 4-5lbs gone so I can book my appointment. It's gone well, and I've got the next week or two planned to do similar. However, I don't think it's sustainable long term and I don't know how people do it and retain a healthy relationship with food. I'll feel awful when I weigh tomorrow and I've lost the same 1lb I'd have done just following slimming world!! We shall see 😊

Lakyta1717 · 26/02/2022 13:37

@WeightlossKin if it's any consolation, I've also weighed twice today 😂 once when I woke up and then after I did my 30mins on the bike. It's ridiculous how much we focus on those stupid scales! Wish they didn't use BMI in the medical world, so outdated! I think we should both focus on weighing ourselves less - stick to weigh in day and that's it!

What's the 5:2 been like so far? I couldn't do that, I couldn't go a set amount of time without food unless it's when I'm sleeping, and even then I sometimes snack in my sleep (a lovely family trait I inherited! My Bampi once ate a whole roast chicken while sleep walking...😳).

I think slimming world will help me, whenever I've done it in the past, I've lost really well in the first few weeks. So I'm hoping it'll give me the boost of weight loss I need.
I really hope you've managed to lose more than 1lb this week, but even if you haven't, a downward trend is what we like to see! Even if it is just a small downward trend, down is down! (I know I say that but I'm the first to be downhearted when I've not lost "enough" 🙄)

WeightlossKin · 26/02/2022 16:02

Haha always nice to know I'm not alone! Stupid scales. We tried my husband hiding them for a bit but that resulted in me getting them out of the hiding place and weighing in all different places in the house 🤣 I agree it's a nightmare feeling like you have no choice but to be controlled by a number. If it wasn't for IVF and BMI I'd be much more focussed on how I can run up the three flights of stairs at work without getting breathless now when I couldn't three months ago. All those things are pointless to the actual issue! I am trying to look forward to being forced to be two stone lighter than I think I've ever been in my life though, which is what BMI 30 would be for me! Should probably make it to BMI 35 first!

Well I'm doing the whole eat 800 calories two days a week thing, and eat healthily the other days. I've also not had any sweets or chocolates or biscuits etc again this week. The first 800 day was a nightmare. Felt like death. The second was okay and I felt really good afterwards! Although I'm still only having 1200 calories on my non fast days, so I'm not sure it will make any difference. Also read you should eat your BMR on no fast days which would be like 1800 calories for me which is nuts. Not sure I've ever eaten that many calories except for special treat meals out!!

Snacking in your sleep sounds horrendous/delicious 😂 😬 I can't imagine that. What an interesting/annoying problem to have!

Well I'm here all the way for your slimming world journey. I really like slimming world but think people have to really promote the 'stop eating when full' aspect and calm down on the 'you never have to be hungry' side of it. I had to spend a while learning how to be hungry' after the first time I did it.
You're right a downward trend is great! I would just like to get to my referral asap now.

Will your husband be happy eating/cooking in a slimming world way?

OP posts:
Lakyta1717 · 26/02/2022 17:06

Amazing that you can go up three flights of stairs and not be out of breath, I get out of breath putting my bra on 😂
Yeah, if it wasn't for the ivf, I wouldn't be bothered by the scale. But by the time I get to target, I'll be the lightest I've been since I was about 12/13 I think. Which is mental!

I could not do 800 calories, you're amazing for doing that! If you think that 3500 calories deficit a week should lead to a 1lb loss, doing the 5:2 diet should put you in a deficit to see a decent weight loss! I'm sure you will, I'm keeping everything crossed for you! What do you eat on the 800 calorie days off you don't mind me asking?

The only thing I don't like about slimming world is the connotation of "syns" for snacks, but I'm just gunna work around it. I don't like thinking of food as "bad or good", I also don't get the mushing fruit makes it synned thing, but that's a whole other debate which I won't delve into 😂

He'll be happy enough doing it, so long as I don't make him cook with fry-light (or fry-shite as he calls it). It ruins pans apparently 🤷🏼‍♀️ but otherwise we pretty much already cook in the slimming world style, so I'm sure he'll be alright with it. He's being really supportive, so if it helps me, he'll make it work.

WeightlossKin · 26/02/2022 18:17

Tbf putting a bra on is an effort 😂
That's crazy isn't it? It makes me nervous to have to get to a weight I can't remember ever being. The first time I ever remember weighing myself I was almost 15 stone but I was a teenager and didn't really know what it meant and didn't really care! The lowest I've ever gotten to is 14 stone 8lbs. I need to be 12'9 for IVF 😬 I've no idea if my body can even lose that much but I bloody hope so! I've gotten stuck at 14'8 more than once.

Well I've only done one week so far but I've been
skipping breakfast both days, then having a protein shake or meal replacement shake (200 calories) for lunch, piece of fruit and yoghurt late afternoon (150 cals) and a small portion of whatever is for dinner. E.g. yesterday we had carbonara so I had 50g spaghetti, the egg, bacon and mushrooms with a side salad (400 cals).

Syns is a funny word for it isn't it! I know it's meant to be for synergy but really it's emotionally connotative for making it bad. The blended fruit thing is always a debate 😂 I think as long as you're not having 4 portions of fruit instead of 1-2 at a time because you've mushed them up, it doesn't matter. Fry light DOES ruin pans/trays. I had to get some reusable tray covers to protect them but not before I'd ruined loads. It sort of makes them go rusty? I do always use fry light though. I think there's like 6 syns in a tablespoon of oil. If I'm "frying" or sautéing, I will sometimes use balsamic vinegar instead of fry light! Have you done slimming world since fresh pasta became "free food' and Muller lights became synned?

OP posts:
Lakyta1717 · 26/02/2022 19:07

It's crazy. I can remember my friends mum asking me how much I weighed when I was like 10/11 and it was so embarrassing that I lied because I knew they'd judge how much I really weighed. How awful is that for a kid?! Explains why I am the way I am about weight/my body really...

I still think it's amazing even if you've only done 1 week so far. I'd be so hangry 😂

I knew muller yoghurts were synned but didn't know about fresh pasta being free! That's interesting... I'm gunna try to go in with a fresh outlook on it and ignore what I already knew about it, otherwise I worry I'll sabotage myself... I think I'll have to use some syns for oil, purely cause of my husband. But I don't mind as long as it works and kick starts my weight loss again!

WeightlossKin · 26/02/2022 20:12

Oh my goodness why she ask a child that?! I can imagine that didn't help at all. Bless you. These experiences definitely shape us in ways people can't imagine ❤️

I was a bit hangry 😳 although when I told my hubby that was what was wrong with me he asked what had been wrong with me the few weeks before I started 5:2 😂 I'm apparently ALWAYS hangry!!

Yes fresh pasta is super recent. And they've changed lots of breads and cereals from when I did it the first time. I bought the wrong bread for like six weeks as it used to be a hex B and now isn't 😂 going in with a fresh open mind as if you've not done it before sounds like a good idea 😊 you can have two hex As now too, but I don't know how long that's been a thing! They still had red and green day's the first time I did it and now it's just extra easy.

My husband and I have just had a bit of a heart to heart and I feel so sad. Even he feels left behind by everyone in life as they're all having babies. And then I told him I'm worried my body physically can't lose the last two stones I need to lose 🙁 but surely scientifically it must be able to?

OP posts:
Lakyta1717 · 26/02/2022 21:01

She was insanely thin, so she clearly had her own issues around body image. But it's always stuck in my head.

Oh husbands, they're so charming when they want to be 😂 mine would do exactly the same! I suffer so badly from hanger, the kids I teach can tell if I haven't had breakfast, so they'll tell me to go eat biscuits at break to cheer up 🤦🏼‍♀️ they're never wrong when they say it though!

Ooh, you've made me really excited about 2 hex A's! Milk AND cheese 😂 amazing! I hate having to choose between milk in my coffee and cheese on my dinner... it genuinely causes me stress just contemplating it, which is ridiculous!

It's good you've had a heart to heart but I'm so sorry to hear that 😔 it's so hard isn't it? When everyone has what you as a couple want, it gets you down so much. But you guys will get there. You absolutely can lose that weight, it will be tough, there's no way to sugar coat it, but you can and will do it! Towards the end, when you're closer to target, that might be when you may have to do more to lose the last few lb, but you will get there!

WeightlossKin · 27/02/2022 09:51

Ah yeah that sounds like someone with their own issues, especially if they're mentioning other people's weight to them!

😂 Oh dear those poor kiddos! At least they know you just need some sugar and don't just think you're evil?!
Milk AND cheese! Exciting isn't it? I'm sure Coco shreddies used to be a hex B but aren't anymore. Anyway! You'll find all that out 😊 new books came out January 2022 so that feels like this is a good time to join?
Deciding what to eat can be so stressful, when it shouldn't be but food has consequences 🤦

The thing that worries me is short of not eating at all I'm not sure what more I can do to lose weight? Exercise doesn't seem to make much of a difference so whilst I could try to squeeze more of that in, I'm not sure what else to do with my diet! It is hard. I'm going to try not to worry about that until my weight loss stops.

I've lost 1.5lbs this week! Better than the half I lost last week and the week before so that's positive. I do feel I deserved a big bumper weight loss 😂 like is 3lbs too much to ask?!
Will stick with 5:2 this week and see how I do.

OP posts:
Lakyta1717 · 27/02/2022 10:25

That's a really good loss! Well done! Maybe if you keep doing it, you'll get some bigger losses in the coming weeks?
I lost 1.2kg (2.5lb) this week, which I'm super happy about. So back down to what I was pre-covid. Going to plan a similar week this week then start slimming world next Saturday. So that'll be my new weigh in day and I'm going to just weigh weekly from now on. Get myself out of this habit.
Any plans for today or just chilling out?

WeightlossKin · 27/02/2022 10:50

Yes hopefully! I do think weight loss is sometimes a week after the effort I've put in... Or at least that's what I tell myself when I've not lost what I wanted 😂 so will stick with my plan this week and see how I get on. I've still not ovulated as far as I can tell and a long cycle always messes with my weight loss. I'm also still sore from exercise so reckon I'll be retaining a bit of water 😎 I'm all about those excuses.
1.2kg is an amazing loss! ⭐⭐ Well done! You should be proud of yourself, it shows your efforts have paid off. To get back to your pre-covid weight is such a fab achievement!!
I'll do my best not to weigh myself during the week too, in solidarity 🥰 although you will be receiving lots of emotional "I've probably not lost anything" messages on here as a result 😂
Will you be weighing at a SW group? Or still at home?
We're doing some house DIY today, going to a relative's for dinner (aka no control over dinner today) but otherwise just chilling 😊 what about you?

OP posts:
Lakyta1717 · 27/02/2022 11:12

That's absolutely true, it's like a chain reaction type thing I find. So long may it continue in a decent downward trend!
I'll weigh at home as I have a set of scales that links to my phone and has data on muscle/water etc so I get to see the whole picture of my efforts, not just the number on the scales. But I'll weigh in at group too and no doubt be annoyed the scales say something different to mine 😂
We're off put to the coast today, want to get some fresh air and my husbands not working, so making the most of it! He wants fish and chips so will have that as a treat before I'm good for the rest of next week. Hopefully the walk counteracts the calories a bit 🤦🏼‍♀️ but it'll be nice to get out and about!

WeightlossKin · 27/02/2022 15:18

Yes fingers crossed for it to continue to go down! I'm interested to know how I'll look and feel at my target weight...I've got size 16 jeans to get into! They're unforgiving 16s as well. They still have the label on 😂 I think they might be five years old this year.
Oh your scales sound fancy. Mine pretend to weigh your water and muscle and fat but it has literally never changed so not sure it works! Definitely don't let the SW scales get to you 😊 they were always 2lbs more than my at home ones.
That sounds like a really lovely day! The weather is pretty lush, if a bit chilly. Perfect for fish and chips by the coast 🥰 you still have to live, and sometimes living means having fish and chips. A little bit of lovely foods won't ruin the other 20 meals where you're on plan so enjoy it!

IsabelHerna · 27/02/2022 23:21

@Hjklasdfg congratulations!

@WeightlossKin I'm still waiting for it to arrive on the post! As soon as it arrives I will let you know how it is and if it actually works. I just need something to keep me on track! AF arrived so, my count down clock has officially started! in 2 weeks I'm travelling for IVF! How have you been?

WeightlossKin · 28/02/2022 20:00

Oh how exciting @IsabelHerna! Do they monitor your weight as you go along? Where are you travelling to for IVF? How are you feeling about it?
I've been a rollercoaster of emotions. Which I guess is just how infertility is! I'm not far off of being my referral weight so I'm excited about that. And then I'll be tackling the next two stone... Somehow.

OP posts:
WeightlossKin · 01/03/2022 20:24

😬😬 pancake day.

OP posts:
Lakyta1717 · 01/03/2022 20:58

I went all out for pancake day because it's also St David's Day too. So had Welsh rarebit for dinner and crepes with banana and biscoff sauce for dessert 😂 absolutely stuffed now!

I did however do 40 minutes on my exercise bike earlier (17km distance which is the longest ride I've done in a while). So legs are like jelly and felt the all out dinner was well deserved!

Hope your week is going good so far!

WeightlossKin · 01/03/2022 21:33

That makes me feel better 🥰
I've had a couple of small American style pancakes with banana and yoghurt, and I made some welsh cakes and had half of one of those too (idk what I'm going to do with the other 15.5!)! I definitely can't eat as much as I used to as I felt sick after. I am trying not to have an internal panic over it. It's just one day and I've been perfect the rest of the day and will be on plan the rest of the week too! So it's fine.
Well done doing so much exercise 💪 your food sounds amazing 😂 well deserved indeed!

OP posts:
WeightlossKin · 03/03/2022 15:27

How are you getting on with not weighing yourself @Lakyta1717?! (This me saying I've not managed it!).

OP posts:
Lakyta1717 · 03/03/2022 17:09

@WeightlossKin I've not weighed but it is killing me! I really want to, but I'm going to be good and stick it out!

Did a mini ride on my bike yesterday, meant to do a longer one today but I'm absolutely shattered from work, so might just do 15-20mins instead. I'm just so tired this week, works been manic and I've got so much marking to do.

How's your week going?

WeightlossKin · 03/03/2022 20:21

You sound like you're having a brilliant week 💪💪 you're smashing the not weighing yourself. I was doing okay but then weighed myself repeatedly today because the first weigh in wasn't what I wanted 😂it wasn't worth it and has made me feel sad!! I've got everything crossed for a 2lb weight loss this week, I'll be so happy!
It's okay not to be able to get exercise in every day, especially if you're genuinely tired and busy. 😊
I'm having an emotionally rocky week. But I'm okay! I've not been too bad foodwise but have had a few random unplanned chocolates. I think pancake day set me off to be honest! Reigning is back in though!

OP posts:
IsabelHerna · 03/03/2022 21:58

Hi lovelies, how have you been?

@WeightlossKin It is such a rollercoaster! That's why I've been awol for a couple of days... I've buried my face in cakes and desserts. My weight has to be monitored because I've got history of loosing and gaining too much weight in no time (mostly meds and emotional eating/not eating for days). So my main difficulty is to just find a mid ground and stay there. I'm going in kyrenia in cyprus for IVF, and I'm excited! I see it as an opportunity to relax, be calm, change of scenery and help me stay as positive, calm, happy as possible (says with a crazy forced- smile😂 ) How about you? In what stage are you of losing the 1st to apply for referral?

As for the diet/nutrition diary, it has finally arrived, on a first glance I'm
underwhelmed but I will let you know tomorrow for any ideas/advice they offer.

Sorry for the huge post, thanks for reading x
