Hi all ...I've just turned 35 and my AMH was 2.1 when they checked it. Just wanted some advice as they are planning to do egg collection on Friday and i only have 2 viable follicles so far and potentially 2 more on the way. I just feels theres not enough follicles and my chances reduces each time . We havent even gone through egg collection, fertilisation or implantations. Just looking for advice really..... :(

Hi @ThashG, fellow low AMH'er here. I have a similar AMH to you and I've typically always started off with 3 or four follicles. I've done 3 rounds of ivf - one fresh transfer that failed in Feb and 2 rounds of egg collections. What I've learnt is that the numbers of follicles and eggs you have done count - it's the quality. First egg collection I got 8, second I got 5, third I got 12. I only got one embryo from each round, so having greater numbers of follicles didn't mean anything to be honest! What size are your follicles?

So I’m not sure but I saw her put 16mm 20mm abs 11.6mm for 3 different ones? I’ve just don’t my ovitrelle today and the consultant said I had. A high FSH on my last blood test. Just nervous as my probability isn’t great right now.

So sorry your previous rounds didn’t work. Can I ask what clinic you’re with?

At my last ivf I had 3 follicles and I ovulated before egg collection so they switched to iui. Now in third trimester. The clinic kept telling me it only takes one and they see it all the time. It does. I also think some women produce 1 or 2 good eggs. My previous ivf only had one good to freeze too.

Thank you so much. I also just learnt that my blood test showed an FSH of 27.7 after having an FSH of 1.7 the year before which is so frustrating. Had I have know I would have reduced my FSH CIA vitex acupuncture etc. I didn’t see this blood test result and no one told me. Guess that’s what happens with NHS. Very frustrating as I could have done more.

Yes it’s high, mine was 10. I wonder why it’s shot up so much. Try wheatgrass shots daily. Also test your testosterone and dheas and see if you could benefit from dhea hormone. Also all supplements for both you and dp from it starts with the egg. You’ll need to realistically get the fsh down before ivf as it’s a predictor of how you respond to medication. Best of luck

Thank you…. I fear it’s too late for this cycle. I wish they had informed me before such a nightmare. I only found out 2 weeks ago. Does FSH affect egg quality or the growth of the embryo etc after implantation ?

There are really mixed reviews on high fsh some saying it indicates low ovarian reserve , aged eggs etc hence egg quality will likely be lower. Others say that’s not the case and I’ve seen women on here have healthy pregnancies with very high fsh.
I know the lister deal with high fsh , hopefully this cycle works , if not it may be worth a consultation with them to discuss their thoughts on it?

Just to chip in. There is no test that measures egg quality. Fsh has got nothing to do with having rubbish eggs - it just tells you that the number you have left is low.

My amh was 2.8 when I was 34 so similar to yours. My fsh was 12, when I did Ivf I only had 4 follicles too. 2 eggs were retrieved - creating 1 embryo. I didn’t believe the “only takes one” stories. However this led to I bfp and he’s now 6. It was my first and only attempt at ivf.

It’s given me some hope reading this , today was my egg collection , only 2 follicles from one ovary but a decent size. I ovulated before so it didn’t happen and the clinic went straight to iui . I’d pretty much given up all hope, the odds are so low at my age, 43. But your story has given me some hope. Just the two week wait now
