I can't see that anyone else has started one yet, so I thought I may as well!

Just got my calendar through today and will be downregging in three weeks time, starting stims in late October, with EC provisionally in early November. This is my second round, which will now be ICSI-only after my last one ended up with a total fertilisation failure Sad

Anyone else on the same sort of timeframe?

@LivingonaPrayerandGin

I'm sure you will be fine, I just seem to have a knack for disaster!

LivingonaPrayerandGin · 18/11/2021 16:28

@BlueSilver23 aw I'm sure you feel totally fed up! Which did you have the reaction to? Everyone says quality over quantity so stay positive! High follicles I think often results in less mature eggs, so think how fat and juicy them 8 must be and survived till now!

@PositiveeVibes how was your EC?? My first injection this evening and the day is draaaaaaging!! This whole process is literally ready set...wait. 😅

BlueSilver23 · 18/11/2021 16:38

@LivingonaPrayerandGin

First reaction with severe vomiting and headache which landed me in A&E for anti-emetics/pain relief was the meriofert/fostimon combo, second reaction with hives all over and tachycardia was the cetrotide, and the cetrotide was the culprit of the bleeding this morning. But don't let that worry you, I'm just a bit accident prone! I'm sure you will be fine.

The hilarious thing is I'm a healthcare professional who gives S/C and IM injections all the time, so why doing them on myself has been such a issue I don't know!

PositiveeVibes · 18/11/2021 16:49

@BlueSilver23 really sorry to hear that you had to go to hospital hope you’re okay and start to feel better soon!

@LivingonaPrayerandGin it was okay thank you just bit of pain afterwards! Aww good luck with your injection! I may be mad.. but I miss doing them!! Felt lost when those stopped ha ha!

firefly37 · 18/11/2021 18:26

Hi all,
I have finally crept back. I have just tried to do some catching up ... there have been some good egg collections! I hope everyone is doing well and I will be doing my best to keep up!
I think I last wrote in mid October when I was just waiting to start stimms ... I did start stimms at the end of the month but after 3 days the cycle was cancelled as I picked up a bug with a high temperature!

So, AF should be arriving this weekend and I will be restarting stimms and can only dream of the high number of eggies that others have been getting! lol ... I usually have 8 follies on one side and 4 on the other. My last fresh cycle, they retrieved 10 eggs but only 3 were mature, I was just so lucky that my daughter came from one of these 3. xx

LivingonaPrayerandGin · 19/11/2021 06:40

@BlueSilver23 😳😳 that sounds awful!! Have you had reactions to other meds? I did my first stimm last night 🥳 hated it 😅 I've been so laid back about the while pro ess until I had to it last night, got really nervous and wasted a vial by spraying it everywhere 🤦‍♀️ injection itself only stung a bit bit I felt so emotional after, like a pity party. Got into bed and just had a little weep... I know they say these sides can cause you to be emotional but bloody hell!

@PositiveeVibes you are definitely mad!! Bit glad to hear they will probably get easier..

@firefly37 ots great that you can start back! Bet you've never looked forward to AF so much 😅

want2bemum · 19/11/2021 07:46

@LivingonaPrayerandGin Oh bless you, that sounds really difficult with the injections :( But you know what, the first time is always the hardest, and sticking a needle in yourself seems so counter-intuitive so your body is like "Why are you doing this to me??" Lol

You will get there with them, just remind yourself that it only stung a bit and each time will be a bit easier. You're strong and you can do it!

@BlueSilver23 Sorry to hear about your experience and having to go to A&E because of a reaction to the drugs. I hope you are OK. I had it with OHSS and it just adds an extra stress on top of what is already a really difficult thing to go through. 8 eggs is really not a bad number though. Look after yourself xx

want2bemum · 19/11/2021 07:49

Hi @firefly37 Welcome back and sorry you had to stop your previous cycle because of illness, that must have been super frustrating. I hope you are feeling better and strong for this cycle - we do put our bodies through a lot so it's definitely the right decision to wait!

Fingers crossed for you and lovely to hear that you have a daughter from a previous cycle :) I really hope we see some more BFP's on this thread - I'm definitely out for this month but would love to know how you all get on.

kirstyeng.com.au/brisbane-acupunture/

Really found this very interesting, a lot of the details in this is what my acupuncture lady has told me too... well worth a read through, also very interesting details about tampons and pads the affect they have on fertility

Hoping everyone is doing well, wishing everyone a great day xXx

PositiveeVibes · 19/11/2021 11:07

@firefly37 welcome back sorry you had a cancelled cycle! Bet you can’t wait to start again!

@LivingonaPrayerandGin I must be mad yes ha ha! It will get easier more you do them!

Day 3 update - 5 are on track and 4 are a bit behind and some of those won’t catch up! Quality varies 1 good 4 average and 4 poor. Transfer booked in for Sunday if all goes to plan!

Gensola · 19/11/2021 11:11

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 I actually changed to 100% organic cotton pads and tampons a couple of years ago after reading something similar. They definitely give me way less discomfort than commerical ones.

I am ok, tired and weeing a lot, feeling mildly nauseous but other than that feeling totally normal.

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 19/11/2021 11:41

@Gensola when is test day? Sounds hopeful, have fingers crossed for you x

Gensola · 19/11/2021 11:43

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 not til 27th 😱

PositiveeVibes · 19/11/2021 12:03

@Gensola hopefully they’re all good signs!! X

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 19/11/2021 12:28

@Gensola IVF is just a waiting game isn't it!!!! I'm the least patient person ever, my transfer isn't even til 29th, it's driving me nuts!!! Let's hope the next week flies by for us both x

BlueSilver23 · 19/11/2021 16:01

@want2bemum and @LivingonaPrayerandGin

I had a reaction to abx before (rash) so perhaps I'm a bit 'drug sensitive', just waiting to hear whether today is my last day of stims and we trigger tomorrow. Quite glad to be nearing the end of this round but worried about the egg collection itself.

For those that have had EC, do you feel anything or are you usually too spaced to notice? I'm being sedated so slightly concerned I may react badly if there is pain involved when the guide passes through the cervix etc

Gensola · 19/11/2021 16:20

@BlueSilver23 the sedation stops you feeling anything at all, I can’t remember a thing from either of my egg collections ☺️

BlueSilver23 · 19/11/2021 17:25

@Gensola

Thanks, I hope I’m worrying unnecessarily. I just wish the clinic would give me a few more details of what happens. Do you sit in a chair to recover? is it a ward? All I’ve been told it’s about 3-4 hours total and then someone to take me home. Is there a lot of bleeding involved afterwards? Feel a bit in the dark about it all!

BlueSilver23 · 19/11/2021 17:30

Also been told not to take my last dose of stims tonight as level too high so we are triggering tomorrow! Bit disappointed I couldn’t have one last go a getting a few more follicles ‘over the line’ but have reconciled myself to the fact it will be a low number of eggs but hopefully good quality ones.

Reefy · 19/11/2021 18:00

@BlueSilver23 I don't remember anything from my 2 EC. I arrived at the clinic at 10.30 & was told to tell my partner to collect me at 12.50 then we had to wait to see the embryologist so I think we left about 1.15pm. So I woke up on the bed I went to sleep on in a little room where it was the only bed & just chairs they move you too once they have monitored you for around 20 mins then can have something to eat & drink. There was very minimal blood both times for myself but not sure about others. Good luck with it all ☺️

BlueSilver23 · 19/11/2021 18:05

@reefy

Thank you. I have quite lengthy drive back (someone’s driving me) but just a bit worried how I will manage being stuck in a car for two hours post EC if bleeding or nauseous etc. normally I jump on the train which is only about 40 mins but clinic are insistent on no public transport……

Reefy · 19/11/2021 18:13

@BlueSilver23 yes they say no public transport. That's a long time. I only had a little bit of blood but when I wiped (TMI) I didn't feel sick I was just hungry so had some fruit & a couple of biscuits with some tea (I have to take my own drink & snacks for some reason) then went to McDonald's 😂. I thought the whole process would be worse then it was as it the thought of it is worse!

Gensola · 19/11/2021 18:29

@BlueSilver23 I woke up in a bed, a nurse was with me. I didn’t feel any pain at the time but I was uncomfortable afterwards for about a week. I had a tiny bit of bleeding but they only poke a small hole in the vagina wall on each side so it’s unlikely you’d have much bleeding Smile
It honestly was very civilised and not scary at all.

BlueSilver23 · 19/11/2021 18:48

@reefy and @Gensola

Thank you, will try and stop over thinking it! Just hoping the trigger tomorrow goes well Smile

LivingonaPrayerandGin · 19/11/2021 19:40

@want2bemum thank you, I'm more prepared mentally tonight so fingers crossed!! Its great you're positive, need to take a leaf out of your book!

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 how do you find acupuncture?? I've my first session next Sat as an attempt of forced relaxation. But I also changed to a cup instead of tampons as I swore they made my cramps worse!

@PositiveeVibes thank you, I hope so! Your numbers sound great! Fingers crossed for the next 2 days!

@BlueSilver23 good luck for EC also very curious! I've never had so much as a stitch or broken bone so a bit worried I might freak out a little 🤣
