I have just been to my egg collection and I got 17 eggs , I am not sure if that’s a good number or bad . Just wondering how many eggs other people had collected ? Thank you Smile and how many did you end up with on day 5 Flowers

@Fernando072020 it really does take one. Was that first cycle?

ShareLove · 02/09/2021 13:18

@Keyu oh so you doing 3 cycles and collecting as many eggs as possible to freeze and then when you have your FET then you should have quite many to choose From? So you’ll have 3 egg collections and after the 3rd egg collection then you’ll have FET ? Smile

@Keyu yes it was. We were very fortunate. They were close to cancelling the round because I only had two mature follicles. The doc left the decision with us whether we wanted to stim for another 4 days and see if the 3rd catches up, we went ahead and luckily it caught up.

Opus17 · 02/09/2021 13:23

@Keyu lots of luck with your cycles!

5 eggs collected, only 1 fertilised… my daughter is 2 yo and fast asleep at side of me

carben · 03/09/2021 23:06

39 yo - 1 attempt
5 collected
2 fertilised with ICSI
2 day transfer of both.
Got OHSS after transfer and was hospitalised.
B/G twins now aged 17 and doing their A'Levels!

Wifflywafflywoo · 05/09/2021 18:32

We had transfer as planned yesterday. 18 follicles, 14 eggs, 12 fertilised, 5 high quality blastocysts. 1 back in, 4 in the freezer. The one they chose for transfer was visibly hatching so hoping it's nice and strong.

Now the waiting game...

Keyu · 05/09/2021 23:22

@Wifflywafflywoo wishing you all the best, do let us know the good newsSmile

Hi all
Late to this but wondering how you got on. I’m having egg collection on the 4th Oct. I’ve got over 30 follicles, 20 over 11mm.
They’ve changed my trigger to buserelin and said I might have to freeze instead of going fresh, because my number of follicles means risk Of OHSS, but I feel fine. I really wanted to have a fresh transfer. Fingers crossed I still can. Anyone been in a similar situation.
Thanks

In my clinic, if they collect 20+ eggs, you're having a freeze all. I got 27 and I felt fine, maybe a little bloated but fine, until after egg collection when I got OHSS. Some women don't get OHSS until their embryo implants and the pregnancy hormone brings it on. That's why even if you feel okay afterwards, they freeze all if OHSS is a risk.

For me, it was great news really. I was disappointed not to have a fresh transfer (desperate and impatient!). But I ended up with 10 in the freezer and my first FET worked. So freeze all can be a good thing. Good luck!

Bethincountry · 04/10/2021 19:37

Thanks for your reply Holskey.
They got 17 eggs.
I didn’t sleep during sedation, I felt it all, it was painful, but not terrible.
I felt fine after, but I vomited when I left, but haven’t since, so hoping it was because of sedation and not OHSS
Just wondering when people heard about how many eggs had fertilised? Morning the next day or later?
We are doing freeze all and I’m considering PGT testing. Did anyone do this?
Thanks

Hi all, love these threads especially as I am going into cycle 3 and need to suck up the positivity!
2016 cycle 1... AMH 7... 11 eggs, 8 mature, 5 fertilised with ICSI, 3 made it to day 5 and one is my 4 yr old son (other two failed FETs)
2019 cycle 2... AMH 5... 10 eggs, 3 mature, 3 fertilised with ICSI, 3 made it to day 5 and one is my 2 yr old daughter (other two failed FETs)
2021 cycle 3... AMH 5... 41 years old... Let's see what happens!! Everything crossed for everyone xx

@Bethincountry , I did egg collection few weeks ago , and I got updates the next day , and on day 2 and day 5 , nothing on day 3 or 4 😌

OP posts:
ShareLove · 06/10/2021 18:32

@Bethincountry
The next day update is about how many eggs have fertilised ( I had 14 out of 17 fertilised )
Day 2 update is about how many are mature (I had 11 out of 14 mature )

On day 3 , I had 8 left still surviving ( found this out later on )
Day 5 was how many have survived ( I had 8 , 5 good to freeze 3 not good enough to freeze )
I had to have freeze all due to OHSS xx

Mine did it differently. Day 1 (first thing in the morning): how many mature and how many fertilised. Day 3: how many still going and whether they're good/average/poor. Day 6: how many frozen.

Bethincountry · 06/10/2021 20:59

Interesting, thanks for your input ladies.
I learnt on day 1 that I had 14 fertilised eggs out of 17 (same as you @ShareLove)
I next hear tomorrow (day 3) how many are still going, I think the statistics say that by day 5 normally a 40 year old would have 30-50% embryos, but who knows. Apparently only 10% of my eggs will be normal though, so we are going to go for PGT-A testing.
@ShareLove your results of 5 eggs seems good. When will you transfer, they’re saying after Xmas for me
@firefly37 your results seem good too, each time you’ve resulted in a child. Fingers crossed for this time. xx

ShareLove · 06/10/2021 21:14

@Bethincountry hey ! I am 29 old and I got 5 great embryos in the freezer ! So from 17 collected to 5 in the freezer . Quite a bit loss , but it’s normal . I’m very happy to have 5 good quality frozen embryos , I won’t have to go through that again any time soon Grin

I had risk of OHSS so I am preparing for FET now . I will be having my trasfer hopefully in 7–8 weeks time from now . It’s been quite a wait for me , I’m so impatient ,
I had my egg collection about 6 weeks ago , so from egg collection to my FET trasfer it will be 3 months long wait as I am down regulating too at the moment before FET .
When are you due to trasfer and is yours fresh or FET ! Smile

Bethincountry · 07/10/2021 09:46

Hi @ShareLove
I’m in a similar situation, risk of OHSS, so we have to freeze all. I was very disappointed at first, but I understand how health has to come first and proper OHSS sounds pretty nasty.
I don’t quite understand why it has to be so much later though, annoyingly my transfer would be close to Xmas and my clinic shuts 2 weeks before so I’ll have to do mine in January.
What is down regulating?
I only thought you did 2 weeks of estrogen and then about a week of progesterone.
5 great eggs is good though. I would be SUPER happy with this outcome.
My history, I have a son (3 years) natural conception at 37 years old. Started trying again at 40 years old, 3 miscarriages later and we decided to try IVF. Clearly my eggs have massively deteriorated over the last few years. 🤞at 29 yours will be nice and healthy xx

ShareLove · 07/10/2021 10:03

@Bethincountry , hey ! My trasfer should also be in December so early December which I’m happy about , I can do it before they close the clinic for Christmas .
So the reason why it’s 3 months wait is because
After egg collection , I got my period 7 days later (so that’s 1 week )
Then I had to start progesterone (norethisterone) on day 21 and take it for 15 days , which brings me to day 36 ) to keep away my next bleed until they can fit me into their plans . ( so stop the tablets at 36 days of the cycle ) then I get my bleed at day 40 . Few days after stopping norethisterone . So that makes it already (6 weeks all together waiting )
Then once I start my next period then I have a scan 4 weeks later to check lining , taht makes it 10 weeks waiting all together and I think 3 weeks after scan they will do the FET transfer so 13 weeks all together from egg collection to FET . Sorry so long story Grin I’m so impatient lol !! So long wait ! I was sooo dissappointed when my fresh trasfer was cancelled on the same day while I was ready to trasfer , all ready in my gown , until they checked my blood results and said sorry we can’t do it .
But I’m glad my body can get into better shape now for FET .
I didn’t have any signs of OHSS , even though I had 17 eggs collected , my only sign was, when I bent forward (down ) I could feel fluid in my chest . So I’m glad I didn’t trasfer because I imagine it could have been so much worse if I did get pregnant .
The reason I’m doing IVF is because I have had 5 early pregnancy losses all at 6 weeks so doctors thinks it’s egg quality which I’m very not unsure about Sad how can I have bad egg quality at age 20’s …

Wifflywafflywoo · 07/10/2021 10:44

I ended up with moderate to severe OHSS. Without being dramatic, I thought I was dying! It started on day 4 after transfer and just got worse from there. I've never been in so much pain, I couldn't breathe, couldn't eat more than a few spoonfuls of lukewarm soup every few hours, still can't lie down flat so sleeping sitting up still. I was severely constipated for a week then had the complete opposite the next. The fluid was up in my lungs, it made what only can be described as skin water balloons up my sides and also filled the outsides of my thighs making the skin go white and cold.

I'm now just over 7 weeks pregnant, still suffering some of the OHSS side effects and now morning sickness and fatigue. We've never had a pregnancy survive past 7 weeks so hoping that next Friday we see a baby on the scan!! It will make it all worth it.

If we ever have to do egg collection again I would absolutely freeze all and wait to transfer.

Good luck to everyone x

Bethincountry · 07/10/2021 22:04

@Wifflywafflywoo, that sounds terrible, poor you. I hope it improves quickly as well as the first trimester. Fingers crossed for your scan, hope it’s good news.
@ShareLove, happy that you can get your transfer in before Xmas. Thanks for sharing your timeline. Think I’m about 6 weeks behind you.
Got my 3 day results today and currently still have all 14 eggs, they graded them so far and 8 look good, fingers crossed I still have a couple by day 5
🤞🤞🤞

Hi gals! Hope you don’t mind me joining! Lots of lovely news in this thread. This is my first cycle. I had my egg collection yesterday and they collected 22 eggs!! This was a shock to us all as the consultants were only expecting to get 10-12 eggs based on scans. 18 of those were mature and 13 have fertilised so far. I have been advised to do a freeze all because of risk of OHSS. I do have a tender and heavy tummy when I stand, but no other signs.

I’m a little bit gutted that I have to wait now for FET (I was just so mentally prepared to transfer this week!). Does anyone know how long I will have to wait? My next period is due 2 weeks today, not sure if they will start soon after that or would it be the following period? Xx

Listen to the big fat negative podcast @Winnie1189 - there is an episode with exactly this sort of scenario. X
