IVF egg collection, how many eggs did you get ! ?

I have just been to my egg collection and I got 17 eggs , I am not sure if that’s a good number or bad . Just wondering how many eggs other people had collected ? Thank you and how many did you end up with on day 5

@ShareLove hope you are feeling ok after it, that's a great amount! I just had my first collection on 13th August they got 9 & 6 fertilised overnight & I had a transfer on day 3 but unfortunately my others didn't make it for freezing.

I got 6 eggs, 3 fertilised and 1 was transferrable on day 5. I'd say 17 sounds like a good number - if the egg and sperm quality is good then even with attrition over the 5 days I think you've a good chance of having options for transfer/freezing. These things can be hugely variable though.

7 eggs collected, 6 fertilised, all made it to day 5. Transferred one fresh and have 5 frozen.

Round 1 - 14 eggs - 2 blastocysts
Round 2 - 14 eggs- 2 blastocysts
Round 3 - 2 eggs - 2 blastocysts (my twins)
Round 4 - 7 eggs - 2 blastocysts (still frozen)

Honestly for me much lower quantity meant much much higher quality x

20 eggs, 7 fertilised (I suspect a load were immature) but one is currently fast asleep in his cot and 3x 5 day blasts are in the freezer.

Hope you are feeling ok, did they recommend you freeze in the end or are you doing a fresh transfer?

11 of those fertilised
6 made it to day 3
4 made it to day 5 and frozen

One of those is growing away nicely in my stomach now, currently 21 weeks pregnant and the other three are still in the freezer :)

Sorry I totally got this wrong, 11 out of my 17 were mature and 8 out of those fertilised, 5 made it to day 3 and still had four at day 5

9 follicles, 6 eggs, 3 fertilised, 1 very high quality healthy blastocyst transferred on day 5, 0 frozen. Due to test on Sunday 5th September!

This in itself is a huge achievement for us as I have an AMH of 3.9 (I'm 35) and fiancée had a DNA fragmentation test suggesting he's infertile! He has a varicocele due to be operated on 22nd September. We've gpt everything crossed for this 1 as we've waited 3 years to get to this stage.

We are waiting on dna fragmentation results after dieting and supplements for 90 days ( testing again 8th Oct) after a failed ivf
( 9 eggs - 7 fertilised all making it to day 3 then seemed to stop growing and no blastocyst ☹️had low AMH of 5.6
We were told we can't cycle again until we've taken supplements and retested dna fragmentation as we've paid for 2 cycles upfront so hoping we can cycle again if this diet / supplements have worked
But obviously may need further testing which is a chance
So you've cycles again even though still waiting procedure for varicole?

18 follicles, 14 eggs, 12 fertilised. Waiting to hear this week how things will go, hoping for a Saturday transfer

@ShareLove hope Saturday is very lucky for both of us 😊 I've given the clinic my other half's number as I can't deal with the anxiety of taking the progress calls, pathetic I know!

Omg I totally understand !!! I am waiting for my first call today and I’m nervous wreck !! I don’t know how other people do it ! That seems to be the hardest part of ivf !!! I wish us both good luck and fingers crossed ! Did you have egg collection yesterday !?

@strawberrysummer19 we are hoping that this 1 works, we decided to try a cycle prior to the varicocele repair because my AMH is so low and I have a history of early menopause. Plus the clinic don't take the DNA fragmentation results seriously! Fiancée needs the varicocele repair anyway because he is in pain. If it turns out we do need another round of IVF we'll wait the 3 months for him to repair and try again in January

I had 41 follicles and from then 21 eggs retrieved, they split half with icsi and half normal ivf... 5 with normal ivf fertilised and 7 with icsi fertilised so in total we have 12 eggs... my transfer day is Saturday but they said its highly likely to be cancelled due to possible fluid build up from so many follicles... its the first day after my egg retrieval today and I'm very very tender and slightly breathless, bit worried! What was everyone's experience post egg retrieval??

@MIW01 oh I see well I really hope this one works for you! You've got great results I think so there's no reason why it wouldn't especially with the one you have.

Im hoping the 3 months we are supplementing and dieting will work so at least we can cycle again but obviously we need to prepare for not being able to go ahead but im really not sure what our path would be if it's still high

I only had 9 but I had a bad 5 days of OHSS it was touch and go if they would freeze but I did go ahead. I had an horrendous 2 days with sickness, diarrhoea but the worst feeling was cramps which had me curled up in a ball. It was short lived but I was still very uncomfortable for a while but did decide to transfer due to having no blastocysts in the end ! So had a choice to transfer one as it wouldn't be frozen. But it subsided for me so I guess I was a lucky. When we cycle again I will push for a freeze all as I don't want to experience that again. It was hell for me to go through that but I know every cycle is different
I was told to drink lots of fluids and I lived on coconut water

@Keeptrying12 hey I also had egg collection yesterday and today is 1 day past my egg collection . I haven’t took any pain killers since egg collection and I have no pain at all . I fee little bit sore when twisting or moving too much but I think that’s normal I feel quite good , hopefully it won’t get worse as I was at risk of OHHS too after having 24 follicles I hope you feel better soon

@ShareLove yep had egg collection yesterday morning. Minimal pain unless I bend over or twist my body.

I've been drinking water by the pint and downing lucozade sport to try and keep hydrated and hopefully prevent OHSS. I was only given half the trigger shot amount in case so hopefully it'll not happen and all will be well for the weekend. Busying myself making my Christmas market stock and listening to Christmas songs 😄 (absolutely disgusting in August I know)

I can’t find you name when trying to tag you and anything to keep your mind busy even Christmas music and can I ask which trigger shot did you get !m? I was originally supposed to take gonasi 10000 but after the scan they decided to give me buserelin instead because of the OHHS risk so not waiting to see if I am going for fresh transfer or FET .. see how I feel and how my embryos are doing , waiting for my first call today this afternoon about how many eggs fertilised exited and nervous !

This makes me think I'm definitely in way more pain than I should be, it even hurts to walk so maybe I should go to the hospital... my tummy is very swollen and I can barely touch it, moving is hard too when shifting positions and I'm feeling a bit nauseous today... its hard to know what to do and when to reach out for help, maybe if it gets any worse?!

@Keeptrying12 definitely get checked out. I barely feel anything unless I move in a certain way then it's just like a bad period pain. I have no bloat and no change in appetite.

@ShareLove my other half is literally glued to his laptop looking at all sorts of stats on embryo development and transfer, he's all stressed. I'm feeling totally chilled watching wax melt so the Christmas tunes are definitely good for this! Even if my neighbour thinks I'm mental

@Keeptrying12 hey , I think you should defanetly get checked out as these symptoms sound like OHHS specially you having so many follicles . I wouldn’t wait till it gets worse as it’s best to catch it early stages it already sound painful what you have described . I don’t think it should feel as painful as you have without ohhs . Sorry I feel totally normal no pain or nothing so I’m lucky I guess but I hope you can ring your doctor and see what they say , better safe than sorry

Hey @ShareLove I got 17 eggs also 2 weeks ago but only 6 were mature and 3 fertilised and in those situations they freeze them on day 1. It was a total shock as I am I my 20s and very healthy with no underlying conditions so goes to show you never know what can happen. Hoping for much better luck for you!! Crossing my fingers for your call xx

@Vparisi omg 6 only from 17 that’s so upsetting , and such a shock to lose so many .. I am also in my late 20 so I hope my situation turns out better ! Waiting for my phone call now and will update later I pray that I have better numbers also did you have any embryos transferred back or you doing FET ? Xx
