What about Rowardennan @GemmTryTTC? It's far enough away from the main places that they might have vacancies at short notice, and it's right next to the loch and Ben Lomond.

2mumlife · 22/06/2021 10:33

@GemmTryTTC Can also try Dumfries area, that where we went recently and it was fairly quiet

GemmTryTTC · 22/06/2021 10:38

Thanks @Scirocco and @itsmschanandlerbong! I'm not from the UK (been living here for a few years but haven't explored a lot!) so I need to start getting a bucket list of places to go! I'll check both, thanks :D

GemmTryTTC · 22/06/2021 10:38

sorry meant @2mumlife!

Scirocco · 22/06/2021 10:58

Managed to get a private scan booked for tomorrow evening!

I'm not necessarily expecting significant changes, but hopefully we can get a closer look and see what's going on with the sac shape and integrity, as well as the cysts. We didn't really get a chance to look at the screen ourselves today, other than a quick "there you go", and it takes longer than that to get oriented to a scan, let alone begin to interpret it!

GemmTryTTC · 22/06/2021 11:17

That's good @Scirocco, hopefully they give you some news, reassurance, and treat you with respect and compassion!!

Scottishrunner · 22/06/2021 20:45

Just catching up on posts and sorry to hear that things have been difficult for many of you.

@Scirocco the way you and your partner were treated today sounds totally unacceptable, have you thought of making a complaint? I know it may be the last thing you want to do at the moment but what happened is not ok.

itsmschanandlerbong · 22/06/2021 20:56

@Scirocco hope your scan goes better tomorrow ❤️

@Scottishrunner I'm hesitant to make a complaint about EPAS while we may still need them, but it's all getting filed away and a nice letter will be written at the appropriate time. I wrote a 7 page letter of complaint about the ward where I delivered after our second miscarriage ...

Even if the outcome is another miscarriage, there are ways to break that news to parents, and telling DH casually when there's nobody there to support him is definitely not an appropriate way. They could have waited the two minutes for me to come back into the room to be there for him.

Hoping that tomorrow's scan can clarify things a bit.

Scottishrunner · 22/06/2021 21:55

@Scirocco fully agree, hope your scan tomorrow gives some clarity, thinking of you both

2mumlife · 23/06/2021 07:26

@Scirocco Still can't believe the way that situation was handled with you. Good luck with scan today.

Scirocco · 23/06/2021 18:08

We've just come out the scan and it was a totally different experience! The sonographer showed us a clear, well-defined gestational sac (slight indentation in one bit but definitely round overall), a round yolk sac and a strong heartbeat. She said there was nothing on the scan that suggested a miscarriage would be any more likely than the usual level of risk.

She found a small intrauterine bleed but it's far away from the implanted sac and she said it shouldn't be an issue.

Totally different findings. A huge relief but still a long way to go of course.

ally99101 · 23/06/2021 18:25

Really glad to hear you had a much more positive experience and more positive news too @Scirocco. Long may the good news and positivity continue. Really happy for you

Kamiros · 23/06/2021 18:54

@scirocco Glad you got more positive news, that must have been a relief.

GemmTryTTC · 23/06/2021 19:21

I’m so happy about your news @Scirocco!

itsmschanandlerbong · 23/06/2021 19:36

@Scirocco that's fantastic!

Best of luck for your bloods tomorrow @2mumlife

@Scirocco You must be feeling so relieved! Is your next scan with your clinic? Fingers crossed everything is positive from now on.

@itsmschanandlerbong Thanks. Will see how it goes, just hoping its clear one way or another.

ally99101 · 23/06/2021 21:08

Can I ask a really daft question. Received drugs delivery from stork for upcoming IVF cycle (my first) and I've just noticed there is no syringe for the trigger shot (buserelin). The menopur vials come with 18 syringes each (so I have 40+) in total, can I just use one of these syringes for the trigger? I suspect yes but second guessing myself

GemmTryTTC · 23/06/2021 21:52

@ally99101Hah I had the same question!! You’ll use one of the menopur syringes 😊

ally99101 · 23/06/2021 22:05

Haha glad to know I wasn't alone @GemmTryTTC, thank you!!

GemmTryTTC · 23/06/2021 22:39

@ally99101 I even called the clinic to ask what the heck the burserelin was and how They forgot the needle for it! 😂 the GCRM didn’t tell us much beforehand to be honest… they should improve in communication

Hopewishprayer · 24/06/2021 07:45

@Scirocco that’s awful how you were treated and glad that you now have more positive findings - I hope that continues for you

@GemmTryTTC Inverness is a nice place to go to for a few days lots of nature round about, lovely areas for walking too

So we had first consultant appointment yesterday and we now know why DH has zero sperm count - he is a CF carrier and so looking at SSR to aspirate the sperm to be used in ICSI - we have been referred yesterday to GRAC. Now we have the decision to make about going private while waiting to speed things up ( I am 39 low amh 3.9 no other health issues) the consultant yesterday did warn is on that thought that way MAY loose out nhs funding if I did not respond well to treatment in the private cycle. I think from reading on here private still has wait of 6 months vs nhs 12 months so trying to think if 6 months will make that much of a difference to my fertility - if we do private it’s probably once so leaning to waiting and then falling back on private if nhs cycle unsuccessful. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

2mumlife · 24/06/2021 08:59

@GemmTryTTC @ally99101 GCRM used to be fantastic at talking you through all the meds (with an in-person appointment to practice) but I noticed with this cycle we got no communication about administering meds, even though the meds were different. I just think they are really busy at the moment.

@Hopewishprayer Not in a similar situation, but you could look at using extra time to change diet, use supplements etc to try to boost both you and DPs fertility.

Feeling like a right pain this morning - I've quite a bruise on my good arm from bloods on Monday, so nurse tried my left which is notoriously got a jumping vein. She couldn't get it so borrowed another nurse to take bloods. Original nurse thought we should go into my hand, but other nurse just went straight in the bruised side (which was sore) and I ended uo going all pale and faint (I don't actually mind needles, but I have an over-reactive vasovascular reaction). Ended up with a lie down, 2 biscuits and my blood pressure being taken before they decided I was ok to drive home Blush

Felt bad as I've gone faint a few times when they've had to pass things through my cervix but I've not gone faint when having bloods taken for years!

GemmTryTTC · 24/06/2021 09:04

@2mumlife Yeah I guess it's because they're busy but like you, not much explanation about meds, how to inject, etc, just one link and a phone call about which ones to take when and doses, that's it really... very poor! There's a nurse at the GCRM that took my bloods a couple of times that always bruised me A LOT! and my veins are easy to locate and I rarely bruise from blood tests, but she really did a number on me a couple of times, I wonder if it's the same person Grin. I'm crossing fingers for you!
