Anybody else been on a very high dose of Progynova (estrogen tablets)?

So my clinic have started me on what seems to be a very high dose of estrogen tablets to me (4 mg 3 times a day - so 12mg total). I've read that 2 mg 3 times a day is the normal dose (so 6mg total)? But this is my first frozen embryo transfer, so I don't know if I'm worrying over nothing Confused

There were no problems with my lining as far as I know - for any of my unmedicated IUI's or my fresh transfer (if anything it seemed to me to be a little on the thick side - I remember it was 13mm at my fresh transfer).

So I'm a bit worried about why the high dose and would love some reassurance if anybody else has been on similar? (I've tried asking my clinic before about med doses, but they seem a bit "one size fits all" and are difficult to get in contact with).

Are they trying to build your lining very quickly (not even sure if it works like that!).
I was on 2mg twice per day for 4 or 5 days, then it was increased to three times per day.
Someone else may answer who has received a higher dose.
Can you contact them by email?

Hi @IamnotwhouthinkIam I haven’t been but I would probably look at it as a positive that hopefully it means you’ll get to the optimum level quicker. I started on 6mg a day but after 12 days the lining wasn’t thick enough so the does was increased to 8mg. So my transfer was later than the norm (if there really is anything normal about this). I had a failed cycle and did wonder was it because my lining took too long to thicken so asked for higher dose next time from
The beginning

Thanks @LongerthanMrTicklesarms and @AutumnHoping for your help.

I've tried ringing them several times and leaving messages over the last couple of days - I'll see if I can find an email contact if they don't get back to me by tomorrow (I can't push too hard as I'm NHS and I realise I'm very lucky they are fitting me in at all with everything that is going on at the moment!).

I'm just concerned about such a high dose - but then they put me on the max dose of menopur for my stims, so maybe because of my age they are putting me on high doses for everything Confused I'm just worried my lining will get too thick, as I've never had thickness problems before and they don't scan to check till after 10 days of tablets.

Hi I was on the same dose, I believe this is standard for our clinic although previously they used to use the patches until there were supply issues. I’ve done it twice and both times had a great lining by day 10. Second FET was successful. Good luck x

Lemongrass1 · 20/01/2021 10:04

I think my lining was 10 the first time and 11.something the second and I questioned if lining could get too thick and they said it was pretty unusual.

LongerthanMrTicklesarms · 20/01/2021 10:48

My clinic scans on day 10 or 11, like Lemongrass they did say it would be unusual for lining to get too thick.
That's good to hear someone else was on that kind of dose too and it was successful - congratulations.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/01/2021 22:27

@Lemongrass1 and @LongerthanMrTicklesarms - thank you both so much for the reassurance, that makes me feel much better.

I managed to get through to my clinic and it seems this high dose is standard for them too. I guess I'll find out on my day 10 scan whether my lining is very thick again - but it's wonderful to know you had success at 11mm lining and on the same dose, Lemongrass, congrats.

I was on the same dose protocol as @LongerthanMrTicklesarms but have been for my 15 day scan today and only have a 5.7m lining so they are looking to up my dose and scan in another few days. I naturally have a lining of around 8.5 so was also worried my lining was getting too thick but apparently not. Hopefully the higher dose works for you.

AutumnHoping · 21/01/2021 13:42

Hi @IamnotwhouthinkIam, if it makes you feel better even with the increased dose this time my lining hasn’t improved compared to last time! Had my first scan today so waiting to hear next steps! I thought the increased dose would have had increased the lining quicker - so hopefully your high dose can only be positive!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/01/2021 18:50

@MF1981 - Thanks for your help, that's good to know your lining didn't get too thick on that med dose, but I'm sorry it wasn't thick enough! Hopefully the increased dose will work for you and it will get to at least 8mm on your next scan. During my IUI's, my lining was usually about 11mm naturally by day 10 or 11 so it will be interesting to find out how thick it gets on these meds!

@AutumnHoping - Thank you the extra reassurance, although I'm sorry the higher dose hasn't worked to increase your lining. From reading this board, it seems a thinner lining is a common problem with IVF, I seem to be the only one concerned mine could get too thick! But fingers crossed your clinic has some ideas - maybe they will let you increase the dose further to the 12mg I'm on?

Thanks @IamnotwhouthinkIam. I’m
Not sure what mine was with fresh cycles and no clue what it is naturally but when stimming I had to do that for 16 days too so more than normal. Last time when increased to 8mg daily it went from 6cm to 10cm in 4 days so I think with me it could be more time as opposed to doseage. They’ve upped it now to 10mg a day for another 5 days. So will see next week how we go 🤞🏻
