@41trying

Private because of my age

I’ve literally driven myself mad testing - it’s so bad for your mental health . Next time I’m going to try and not put myself through the days of misery

Hi everyone, new on here @Xx40yearsyoungxx thank you for adding me.

Long story short, tried IVF 10yrs ago. Fresh transfer was a fail, FET resulted in a miscarriage.

Fast forward 10years, not getting any younger thought I would give it another try. Had a fresh transfer, was positive nearly 2 weeks now. Mega excited but also very scared and cautious at the same time. Ended up with severe OHSS and ended up in hospital.

DH is amazing and supportive, not told any family or friends yet, just want to wait till at least the 12week mark, but dying to talk to people about it.

41trying · 22/04/2020 15:50

I'm the same @Xx40yearsyoungxx, I'm 42 now. It's expensive and mentally successful. I dont think you can help but keep testing. I am still doing a digital one, once a week, I'll roll my last Friday before my scan on Tuesday.
Welcome@Chimp58527, I am the same as you, haven't told family at all, it is nice to have people on here to talk to though. Do you have any symptoms yet?

@41trying apart from cq10 - what other tablets did you take to prepare for your next round ?

41trying · 23/04/2020 10:59

Folic acid and vit d. @Xx40yearsyoungxx this was the only time I took cq10, I have to believe it helped

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 23/04/2020 11:26

Thank you
Ivf is so mentally draining isn’t it - I’m just hoping lockdown doesn’t ruin my chances for ever given that I have none in the freezer and am nearly 41

Chimp58537 · 23/04/2020 11:31

@41trying. Just been reading through the posts, congratulations Flowers.

I'm just bloated, most likely from the OHSS and maybe the progesterone pessaries??

I'm getting regular cramping, sometimes so bad I can't move, which is scaring me soooo much. Just keep praying /hoping/wishing everything is ok

Not sure if the cramps should feel that bad? Is that normal?

I'm also eating alot more on some days... Ok, most days Hmm I'm usually a healthy person but I seem to want to eat chips and mix grills, I'm not usually a meat lover but dont think this baby is gonna be a vegan Hmm

Did you say you have had your scan? What happens after this scan? Anyone know the protocol?

@Xx40yearsyoungxx looked up that Emla cream, looks amazing, I hate needles, I'm wondering why I haven't discovered this before. Think I'm gonna go for the 30g tub but it seems to have sold out everywhere.

41trying · 23/04/2020 11:37

Morning @Chimp58537, I have had the odd cramp but it doesn't last very long. As for eatting I've gone the other way, normally I would eat anything but seems I have been only eating small amounts, since weigh in at EC I have lost 3lbs.
I have my scan on Tuesday then if all ok they discharge you from there care and you go to DR for what comes next, bloods and 12 week scan I suppose

OP posts:
Chimp58537 · 23/04/2020 12:58

@41trying, I have my scan on Tuesday as well. Feel like its taking ages for it to get here.

Think both DH and I will feel its a lil more real after the scan, at the moment we still can't believe it.

My Fertility clinic did say I was be moved onto. My Dr. But was unsure when that would be, I paid them enough (we had to go private as I had 'used up' my go 10years ago, was devastated when I found out, esp as I was with a different partner, we had to use the savings we had for a house deposit for this) was kinda hoping I would be under their care for abit longer. Maybe even the full 9months lol

41trying · 23/04/2020 13:27

Ahh same day then, I'm nervous but excited too.
I have 3 older children which I had when I was very young and got sterlized. With my now partner 13 years and this hopefully will be our one together.
I had paid 4, 5 rounds, it's so expensive.
I'm with Care, what about you?

OP posts:
Chimp58537 · 23/04/2020 15:15

@41trying, I'm with Care too, in Manchester.

I found them to be ok, really lovely when you are there but a nightmare to get hold of. We went through Access Fertility for the funding and paid for the 3cycles. We were tempted to go with ABC as they were much cheaper but they had lots of costs that were not included, in the end going with them could have worked out more expensive in the long round. Have you been with Care for all your cycles?

We don't have any children between us so this will be our 1st.

41trying · 23/04/2020 15:25

I'm Birmingham @Chimp58537, they have been great. Only this cycle and the one before. Before that at create, which do short protocol and low drugs which didnt work for me as I didnt even get to transfer stage.

OP posts:
Chimp58537 · 23/04/2020 16:08

@41trying, I'm glad you have got to this stage. You sound far more stronger than me. CakeFlowers

Even though this OHSS has been probably one of the worst experiences of my life I'm glad we got a positive, infact we were really suprised.

They say to be stress free but the time leading from EC to transfer was so stressful on my body as I had/have a dodgy tooth which needs a root canal so I was just so consumed with the pain of that for weeks.

We honestly expected it to be negative.

Anyway fingers crossee everything works out.

Will this be your 1st scan? Can they tell us the due date from this appointment? I know it should be in Dec but I'm so impatient I want a date lol

41trying · 23/04/2020 17:22

@Chimp58537, this was my last go.
When was your EC and transfer?
Yes it's my first scan and I'm sure they can tell us

OP posts:
Chimp58537 · 24/04/2020 09:24

@41trying, morning, my EC was... 23rd March and transfer was 28th.

We have found a calculator on the net which gave us a date but wasnt sure if I trusted it lol

How is everyone doing with the lockdown? I want it to be over! But in a way this is allowing me to keep PG undercover.

If it does start lifting in June (which is some peoples opinion) Hmm at least I'll be at a stage where I can tell people lol

41trying · 24/04/2020 10:22

There is a IVF calculator and I have also looked. My EC was 25th March and ET 27th.
My clinic seemed to think we should take transfer day as being 2 weeks pregnant.
I am sure they will tell us more when we go

OP posts:
Chimp58537 · 24/04/2020 10:42

I was surprised when the clinic said I was around 4weeks when we tested. In a way it shaved off 1month, 8 more to go lol

41trying · 24/04/2020 11:00

Absolutely! Did you get info on your portal? It said on mine, 2 weeks on EC day, so that's how I have worked it out for now. 16th dec. I will have mine early, as I'll have to have a section

OP posts:
Chimp58537 · 24/04/2020 12:22

Not I've not been on the portal for awhile, the online calculator said 14th Dec for us,

I've never given birth b4, scared sh!tless, but not gonna worry about it until month 8??

Is there a requirement for a Csection? Can you opt for one??

41trying · 24/04/2020 15:01

@Chimp58537 I have had c sections previous, so this one will be.
Not sure about asking or anything for one

OP posts:
Chimp58537 · 26/04/2020 15:38

@41trying ahh ok I see,

Also, just found from my brother that he has some kind of gene issue which makes him 8times more likely to have a blood clot than the avg. Person, apparently this means, it might affect me too... Hope this doesn't affect my PG...

Anyone come across this before?

41trying · 26/04/2020 15:53

Afternoon @Chimp58537, I hope all is good with you. I say get today over with then we only have tomorrow ha ha, counting down still.
I'm sure they will discuss everything with you and you can tell them your concerns, they may offer aspirin to take, not that I have any clue

OP posts:
Xx40yearsyoungxx · 26/04/2020 16:48

Hi all

Hope you are all well . Good luck with your scans!

Does anyone know how long after a fresh failed transfer do You have to wait for another round of ivf (long protocol / no Frosties)

The clinic told me that the bleed around the TWW mark is a withdrawal bleed not a period . Theoretically, if clinics were open, could I start down reg again day 21 from the withdrawal bleed or do u have to wait another month for my ‘ period ‘ and then 21 days from there ?

Thanks in advance

Chimp58537 · 26/04/2020 17:02

@41trying, I feel like tom is gonna drag, but I am 'going back to work' tom so that should keep me occupied

@Xx40yearsyoungxx Think every clinic is different. Last time around I had to wait 3 bleeds, but that was for a FET.

This time when I asked, they just said you would have to give your body a break, 1 nurse said 1 month and another said 2.

Chimp58537 · 26/04/2020 17:11

@Xx40yearsyoungxx which clinic are you with? Maybe give them a ring. Mine is open limited hours for questions. Maybe try them 1st thing?

Have you got any other children? Seeing that neg. Is heart breaking. Been there soooooooooo many times. Lets all stay positive xx sending big hugs xx Here for you if you need a chat xx
