October ICSI/IVF

Hi all,

I have never written a post on here but thought it may be nice to get a thread going for anyone about to start ICSI/IVF. I am 28 and have been ttc for almost a year and have recently found out my husband has a very low sperm count (2 million) and ICSI is our only option. I was sure for so long something must be wrong with me so to find out it was him was a complete shock and I think we are both still adjusting. Fortunately we are able to go private and have my appointment to get the ball rolling on Wednesday. I have had a (all clear) and all of the bloods already so hoping we can get cracking next month so I am eager to get started. Everything is apparently fine with me apart from very mild pcos which I have been told shouldn’t effect my chances! I am still very anxious about the whole situation and just praying that the process will be successful.

If anyone has any tips or is in the same boat feel free to join!

Good luck @siananigans yes I'm sure they will look after you! That's a great sign though!! I had EC yesterday had 30 eggs collected, 20 mature and 14 fertilised and 2 maybe able to catch up. Have to wait until Monday now to see how many last to day 5. Quite sore but def getting better!

Aww that's brill @NS05! It's a really hard wait now just try to relax!

Hi all, can I join in?
Had a frozen transfer on Monday of a 5 day blostocyst.
First cycle was back in the summer, where we got 3 eggs, all 3 made it to 5 day, one fresh but failed transfer and 2 were frozen.

Thanks @naughtyboob, I'll keep you posted. I didn't have any signs of ohss before during stims etc, all was good. But doing some research seems late onset is triggered by the drug they use for trigger shot and then intensifies as hcg levels rise with implantation. Feeling horrendous tonight... Hoping its all worth it.

@NS05 congrats on your EC, I'll keep everything crossed for some lovely day 5 blasts for you!

I'm good thanks @NS05 just waiting now, got an appointment next Friday to find out what happens next and when I can have my first transfer. I think I was sore for about 3 or 4 days then started feeling better. It was a horrible wait though to see how many made it to day 5! X

@Naughtyboob I know they aren't calling until Monday so just trying to forget about it and enjoy my weekend! Guess there's nothing I can do! I've been so MIA the last couple of weeks I think my friends are wondering where I am! Have had to keep lying and say I've had a cyst removed which is awkward but just don't want add more pressure! X

I was the same in work! Just told them it was lady problems! I don't want everyone waiting for me to tell them in pregnant, Monday will soon be here xx

I'm doing OK... Still in a lot of pain and very swollen, but not getting any worse so that's the main thing!

We got a bfp on the official test and we're over the moon, but it doesn't really feel real, and finding it hard to be excited because of the pain!

Had a work do with hubby last night and was just so uncomfortable, but can't tell anyone why! Hadn't thought about how tricky this part would be.

Got my early scan booked for 4th Nov. I'm sure it'll all feel more real then!

I had my trigger injection last night, heading in for my EC at 9 tomorrow morning. Feeling more hopefully than last time as have about 30 follicles, since are definitely too small but most were large enough. Feeling quite full compared to last time!

I have my FET booked for Friday. I've been very emotional as it's my third transfer.

Also I've been really crampy today, I suppose from oestrogen pills I am taking, I don't know.

Hi all, I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread.

I am 32 and we have been TTC for 2 years. We are just about to start the short protocol. I have my last day of norethisterone today, go for my baseline scan on the 25th and start injections on 26th if all is good.

I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and emotional already at the thought of what is to come .... not sure how i will be when i am actually on the treatment . Reading through these posts has been a good tonic though ... I think I am going to need you supportive bunch on lovely people over the next month or so!! xxx

Hi @PotatoJam welcome! Clinic just called and I have 5 day 5 blastocysts and 3 that are just slightly behind that could catch up! They are going to call me tomorrow but I am happy with that! I feel so sick from how anxious I've been now I'm just going to relax until I can transfer next month. Thanks for all your support lovely ladies!

@NS05 that’s fantastic about your embryos! Your hard work is done and you can relax and recover.

I start my stims tonight, dreading the needles.

Aw you will be fine @Youngatheart00 I just did deep breathing every time the needle went in and it really helped!!

@youngatheart00 are your stims in proper injection syringes or like a pre loaded epi pen type situation?

I am feeling awful today, was meant to be back at work but phoned in sick. I felt like I was managing to get on top of controlling the pain from the ohss swelling and then this morning, bam, horrendous nausea. So I guess that's the morning sickness here now! I dragged myself to Jojo Maman Bebe for a couple of soft maternity bras to wear at night because my boobs are sooo sore, it was nice to get some fresh air.
Sorry, I don't mean to be a neg, just feeling very sorry for myself today as I feel so rough and husband is away with work until Thursday night 😣

@NS05 contrasts on your blastocysts! Hope to be in a similar position in 5 days myself.
Had my EC this morning, got 15 eggs so was pleased with that given that last time I only got the one! More got to wait for the call from the embryologist in the morning. There are so many nerve-wracking moments in this process!
