October ICSI/IVF

Hi all,

I have never written a post on here but thought it may be nice to get a thread going for anyone about to start ICSI/IVF. I am 28 and have been ttc for almost a year and have recently found out my husband has a very low sperm count (2 million) and ICSI is our only option. I was sure for so long something must be wrong with me so to find out it was him was a complete shock and I think we are both still adjusting. Fortunately we are able to go private and have my appointment to get the ball rolling on Wednesday. I have had a (all clear) and all of the bloods already so hoping we can get cracking next month so I am eager to get started. Everything is apparently fine with me apart from very mild pcos which I have been told shouldn’t effect my chances! I am still very anxious about the whole situation and just praying that the process will be successful.

If anyone has any tips or is in the same boat feel free to join!

@NS05 I don't think mine is the same, I can't have oestrogen coz of the type of breast cancer I had, it would be dangerous for me but I'm not sure what the alternative is, I just know I have a lot of these progesterone pesseries!! My ovaries were really sore the last couple of days, I actually felt better after egg retrieval, it was a lot better than I expected!!

Oh I'm sure there must be different options @Naughtyboob! I'm just taking every day as it comes and trying not to think about it too much! Feel like it has gone so quickly that way!

@violet180 hi, I think I remember you from previous threads? Sorry that we are both here again. I'm also doing my third transfer. This will be my first FET and last NHS go.

Currently taking buserelin and just started estrogen tablets. Anyone else taking estrogen? Any side effects? I think it is just making me tired, in sudden waves where it's hard to keep my eyes open. Which is awkward during work.

Got a scan on Wednesday and transfer expected around a week later 🤞

@Naughtyboob did you have really bad back pains before egg collection? Started to get horrific back cramps last night and I don't know whether it's normal because of all the follicles?

Thanks @Thund4rcat . I had a break for a couple months. Feeling nervous about trying an actual transfer.

@NS05 yes I did hun, I was fine on the wednesday at scan, there were about 6 follicles growing, then next night got really bad pains, had scan friday morning and there were 60 follicles growing so they said pain was to be expected. I ended up off work then for a week, the 4 days before egg retrieval and a few after. I didn't get OHSS though so that was a bonus!

Hi all, just been reading all your stories so far. I had a failed round of ICSI in August/Sept, unfortunately only got one egg as they kept stim meds low because of a good supply of follicles. Got a good embryo but it didn't take.
Now back on the menopur, day 6 and this time, a higher dose. Big relief yesterday when I went for a scan and my ovaries are responding better this time. Next scan is Tuesday and started Fyremadel this morning.
Hope everyone is doing okay :-)

Hi @LucyLucyT welcome! I'm on exactly the same injections! They added one more to the mix yesterday to help mature all my eggs! Wish you all the best of luck!

@NS05 oh good luck with your collection! Are things looking good numbers wise? I am on day 4 of stims so still about a week until collection.

Good luck @NS05 for tomorrow!!

I have a scan on Friday where I hope they will move me on from Progynova to my stims.

Well I have about 40 follicles but I think only around 20 are big enough! Just praying it all goes well! They are worried about ohss so I can't transfer until next month! How are the stims going?

@NS05 good luck tomorrow!! Will be thinking of you and hoping for lots of nice big eggs!! Don't worry about the collection, it's a lovely little sleep and I felt so much better afterwards and not in as much pain as before I went in!! X

@NS05 are they giving you full sedation so you'll be asleep? I highly recommend that if you have a choice. I've had 2 egg collections now, one without sedation (just local anaesthetic) and one with full sedation.

Full sedation @Thund4rcat thank goodness as I'm such a scaredy cat!

Good luck @NS05 let us know how you get on Smile
I'm probably going for retrieval on Monday, got about 20 follicles on my scan today, some won't be big enough but a good number are getting there. Going back Friday to finalise the plan. Hope everyone else is doing okay

How is everyone getting on?

Ive been a bit quiet as went away for a few days to take my mind off the 2ww, test day is tomorrow. 😬
I have however been feeling awful the past 3/4 days, potentially late onset OHSS, which I didn't even know was a thing! I am so sore and bloated, hardly sleeping, yep fun. The only silver lining is late onset is usually a sign of a hormone surge due to implantation, so hoping for bfp tomorrow. 🤞The bad news, if positive the ohss symptoms can last 8-10 weeks 🙄
The clinic have booked me in for some bloods and and examination tomorrow. Will keep you all posted.
Xx
