Hi all,

I have never written a post on here but thought it may be nice to get a thread going for anyone about to start ICSI/IVF. I am 28 and have been ttc for almost a year and have recently found out my husband has a very low sperm count (2 million) and ICSI is our only option. I was sure for so long something must be wrong with me so to find out it was him was a complete shock and I think we are both still adjusting. Fortunately we are able to go private and have my appointment to get the ball rolling on Wednesday. I have had a (all clear) and all of the bloods already so hoping we can get cracking next month so I am eager to get started. Everything is apparently fine with me apart from very mild pcos which I have been told shouldn’t effect my chances! I am still very anxious about the whole situation and just praying that the process will be successful.

If anyone has any tips or is in the same boat feel free to join!

Yes I completely agree definitely listen to your body! I'm sorry you will have to do a new cycle again but you have done it before and can again! Maybe just focus on having a nice Christmas and then you can tackle it again in the new year. It is so unfair we all have to go through this - I sometimes think why can't we just all conceive easily but I guess we are all just being tested and we will appreciate it more than anyone when it does happen!

Also @Youngatheart00 I don't know if you are near London or looking to go private next time but my clinic have been amazing and have incredible success rates- let me know if you want details

Youngatheart00 · 21/11/2019 18:10

Thank you xx

LucyLucyT · 21/11/2019 23:34

Thinking of you @Youngatheart00 many of us have been there and it's horrible, it does get easier though after a while, rest up and look after yourself xx

NS05 · 22/11/2019 20:13

How is everyone doing today @PotatoJam are you resting soon or is it still too early?

@NS05 due to test on Thursday but its not looking good. Have had light bleeding since wednesday which has been more like a light period the last 2 days. The clinic are just saying we have to wait and see but i dont feel positive at all about it. Ive been feeling quite emotional about it all but this is only my first cycle so i need to keep reminding myself of that. Xxx

NS05 · 23/11/2019 16:49

Don't worry @PotatoJam sometimes it can just be implantation bleeding! Try and stay positive. I'm due to test Monday and also feeling negative as have had awful period cramps today and shooting pains in my pelvis- feel like I'm about to start any minute! Xx

Sending best wishes to you both @NS05 and @PotatoJam - the 2WW really is a rollercoaster

Naughtyboob · 23/11/2019 17:53

@NS05 @PotatoJam fingers crossed it's implantation bleeding and cramps. Hope your both feeling ok. Xx
How are you @youngatheart00 ? xx

Youngatheart00 · 23/11/2019 18:26

Hi @naughtyboob I’m not too bad in the circumstances. BFN confirmed via bloods yesterday. I’m trying to be pragmatic though, going to try and enjoy the Xmas season, re-focus on work for a little while and then try again with a new clinic in 3 months time.

How about you? Smile

Naughtyboob · 23/11/2019 18:45

@youngatheart00 glad your not feeling too bad, and having a new plan will keep you focused. Are there other clinics local to you? I'm ok thanks, just waiting till Tuesday to see if my lining is doing ok, then hopefully transfer the following Tuesday. Time feels like it's going so slow at the minute!

PotatoJam · 24/11/2019 08:19

Thanks all. Maybe naively since ive experienced the 'normal' 2ww so many times i thought i would be sort of prepared for this but it's so much more of an emotional rollercoaster than it has been before!

@NS05 is that monday as in a week tomorrow or tomorrow? Hopefully the cramps are a good sign!

@Naughtyboob fingers crossed everything looks good for you on Tuesday ☺

@Youngatheart00 glad to hear you are feeling ok. We invest so much time and emotion in this, its mentally and physically exhausting. Hopefully xmas works as a good distraction and you feel rechanlrged after a break from treatment

Xxx

No tomorrow @PotatoJam! My clinic say within ten days of a blastocyst transfer it should be accurate. I literally am so nervous but I also need to remind myself it's my first time and it can take a few. You do invest so much into it and it's so difficult. My husband wanted me to take a test today to soften the blow if it is negative but I can't bring myself to do it. I will update you guys tmo x

@NS05 looking forward to hearing your update tomorrow. I didnt know about the 10 day thing ... i am so tempted to take a test today ... im 11dp5dt 2😬

NS05 · 24/11/2019 10:56

It will definitely show up by now @PotatoJam as you would be over four weeks!! Completely up to you though - I'm way too scared and just want to have one more hopeful day haha!

PotatoJam · 24/11/2019 11:35

So i caved in and took an early test (11dp5dt) ... and this happened. Im in a state of shock!

@NS05 best of luck for tomorrow hope you get some sleep, I found that quite hard hehe, and being able to hold on long enough for a decent quality urine sample!

Congratulations @PotatoJam! That's great news ☺️

@youngatheart00 I'm so sorry things haven't worked out for you this time 😔 but I'm glad you are feeling optimistic for the future. Enjoy a lovely Christmas and next year you'll be ready to do it all again xx

I had my flu vaccine yesterday, feel horrendous today. Tired and snuffly, and a headache I can't shake. I know they say it's not linked, but it seems hard to believe it's not! Also my nausea which had all but gone is back with a vengeance! Yay!

LucyLucyT · 24/11/2019 22:50

@siananigans the flu jab can cause a bit of an inflammatory response, so it is likely related but won't be harming you or your little one. I had mine last week and apart from a sore arm for a couple of days I was okay.

Haven't really had any nausea yet, but wondered if I had a bit this evening, however I ate a share bag of wispa bites earlier in the day so that could be something to do with it 🙈. I know it seems strange but I want the nausea/sickness to happen for a bit more reassurance, I know not everyone gets it but I think it's generally a good sign that the hormones are doing the right things.

Great attitude @Youngatheart00 I hope you have a lovely Christmas, you deserve it. Then you'll be ready and raring to go again in the New Year. Good luck with it, have you already got another clinic in mind?
