Hi all,

I have never written a post on here but thought it may be nice to get a thread going for anyone about to start ICSI/IVF. I am 28 and have been ttc for almost a year and have recently found out my husband has a very low sperm count (2 million) and ICSI is our only option. I was sure for so long something must be wrong with me so to find out it was him was a complete shock and I think we are both still adjusting. Fortunately we are able to go private and have my appointment to get the ball rolling on Wednesday. I have had a (all clear) and all of the bloods already so hoping we can get cracking next month so I am eager to get started. Everything is apparently fine with me apart from very mild pcos which I have been told shouldn’t effect my chances! I am still very anxious about the whole situation and just praying that the process will be successful.

If anyone has any tips or is in the same boat feel free to join!

Sorry you too with regards 2ww @PotatoJam hope things are okay x

Naughtyboob · 19/11/2019 06:15

@siananigans hello!! Glad your doing so well, and 12th December is my dad's birthday Lol! I'm just glad I'm getting somewhere now, was starting to feel a bit left behind when nothing was happening and worried it was going to get pushed back to next year. God knows how I will cope with the 2ww!! I already bought my tests yesterday! Bet you can't wait for your scan, I'm excited for you!!! Xx

PotatoJam · 19/11/2019 07:21

@Naughtyboob thats brilliant news! That will come around so quickly!

@siananigans and @LucyLucyT thanks, its so exciting to hear how you guys are progressing. the 2ww has been a bit up and down. Thats me 6dp5dt now. Yesterday i felt i was almost back to my nornal self which is nice. Have had a bit of light pink discharge this morning ... trying not to think too much into it but its worrying me a bit.

@NS05 have you been feeling any better/ more positive? @Youngatheart00 been thinking about you since the weekend, have you had any changes or answers from the clinic?

Youngatheart00 · 19/11/2019 08:06

I spoke with the clinic yesterday as the bleeding continued into yesterday and also had a negative HPT which was 9DP5DT Sad

Clinic said it doesn’t look good and have moved my OTD blood test to Friday morn (from Mon) so that if it is neg I can at least come off the meds before the weekend.

However, I later realised the test was 6 months out of date (not sure how much of an impact that has) and the bleeding has completely stopped over the last 12h.

In my mind i know it’s not been successful but my heart has a very tiny bit of hope.

NS05 · 19/11/2019 08:13

So exciting @siananigans and @LucyLucyT ! @PotatoJam I bet that's implantation bleeding it's very normal to be pale pink - when is your test date again? @Youngatheart00 at least the bleeding has stopped for now that's the main thing and that's a good sign that it was only a bit and it's gone now! Def still keep positive. I had some really bad cramps yesterday for about ten minutes but who knows if that was anything! Gosh this bit really is the worst at least we have each other!!

@LucyLucyT yes, 9 weeks tomorrow, Eek! Gosh, my early scan was around 6 weeks. 8 is late!
Glad to hear your ohss symptoms have calmed, and some encouraging news for you: my progesterone pessaries ended at 8 weeks and I'm no longer constipated which is a huge relief! Hopefully you'll be the same.
I feel you with the carbs and cheese 🧀!!

@youngatheart00 I'll still be keeping everything crossed for you. I'm sure it's a hard to stay positive at the moment, but hopefully it will be a positive outcome for you.

@ Everyone, how do we feel about sharing scan pics and stuff if/when we all get to that stage? I'm aware that could be really difficult if there are some of us who've sadly been unsuccessful.

Naughtyboob · 19/11/2019 18:23

@siananigans I would love to see scan pics etc!! I would personally be ok with anyone sharing that type of thing even if it doesn't work for me, I would still be happy for you Smile xx

Naughtyboob · 19/11/2019 18:27

That's if everyone else is ok with that xx

Youngatheart00 · 19/11/2019 18:55

It’s looking increasingly like I’m going to get a BFN as I’m pretty sure AF has shown up now. Dealing with it by making a plan for 2020. Quite annoyed with my clinic in a variety of ways really but grateful to have had it funded. I’ll know for sure on Friday.

No problem at all on my part with scan pics being shared - seeing the positive news from those in this group who have all been through their own struggles is important to see. People should feel able to post happy / sad or otherwise. Those not so lucky can always take a time out and not look at the forum if not feeling strong enough.

Naughtyboob · 19/11/2019 19:07

@youngatheart00 I'm so sorry it's not going so well for You, will still keep my fingers crossed for Friday though. Will be thinking about you xxx

Youngatheart00 · 19/11/2019 19:08

Thank you so much @naughtyboob.

NS05 · 19/11/2019 19:15

I'm so sorry @Youngatheart00 this whole journey can be so so cruel! We all will get there someday one way or another!

Yes I'm happy to do that it's so nice having each other and going through this rollercoaster together! Xx

@Youngatheart00 thinking of you, and still keeping everything crossed for you.

Yes I am happy for everyone to share, we have all been through the mill and no matter my own outcome knowing that there is some success stories in our wee group makes me feel positive that most of us will get our own successes, if not now, at some point!

siananigans · 19/11/2019 23:25

You're all so lovely! I'm really glad we have this little group ☺️

Big virtual hug to you all xxx

Naughtyboob · 20/11/2019 16:45

Aww me too!! It's lovely being able to talk to others that know what your going through and how your feeling! Xxx

Has anyone else been taking progynova felt really really tired? I'm exhausted, by lunchtime I feel like I need to go to bed!

Youngatheart00 · 20/11/2019 17:30

A definite yes re Progynova. I will nap for hours at a time given the chance and days I’ve been back in work I’ve been absolutely spent by the time I’ve got home. In fact, although I’m expecting the worst on Friday, I’m actually looking forward to confirmation I can stop the nasty bullets!!!

Naughtyboob · 20/11/2019 19:13

@Youngatheart00 glad I know what it is then! Cant wait till the weekend so i can have a mid day nap! They said i start the bullets on 28th, are they that bad?

Youngatheart00 · 20/11/2019 19:15

Sorry - I got confused then for a second between Progynova (the oestrogen) and Cyclogest (progesterone). Both made me tired but Cyclogest more so (and that’s what I’m due to finish!). I haven’t been on Progynova since before stims. I do find it very strange how every clinic’s protocols are so different!!! (I think mine just do whatever is cheapest tbh).

Naughtyboob · 20/11/2019 19:38

@youngatheart00 oh gosh so it might get worse Lol! I need to take progynova because I don't ovulate so couldn't have a natural cycle. It's crazy how many different ways and drugs there are for it all!

NS05 · 20/11/2019 19:38

I'm on progynova (8mg) I have been exhausted the last few days with terrible headaches but not sure which medication is giving me these delightful symptoms Confused

@Youngatheart00 so sorry to hear things aren't good at the moment, still hoping for the best for you but I know it feels rubbish.

I'm happy for people to share scan photos. Just got the date through for my 12 wk scan, new year's Eve! Got to get through my viability one first though, week and a half to go, know I'm going to get more and more nervous as I get closer though, one again it's that "not knowing" thing!

@siananigans I seriously can't wait to stop progesterone! Mind you think I am getting on top of things with regular laxatives now.

Youngatheart00 · 21/11/2019 07:40

BFN at 12dp5dt and AF like bleeding heavily on and off, I’m out. My first cycle has failed Sad

Feeling all sorts of emotions at the moment. Does anyone think I’ll be ok stopping the Cyclogest ahead of my bloods tomorrow? I think it’s blocking AF and causing awful cramps. Clinic advice was to continue and I guess it’s just another 3 doses but now I know it’s BFN and now been bleeding for 5 days it just seems cruel.

Violet180 · 21/11/2019 09:08

@Youngatheart00 I'm so sorry you are going through this. I know it seems pointless and cruel but I would keep taking it till blood test. Then at least you know you did everything you could and would have no regrets. The reason they say to is because surprises do happen.

NS05 · 21/11/2019 10:38

I'm so sorry @Youngatheart00 that is so unfair. Just know that most of my friends first cycles failed and nearly all were second or third time! Personally I would stop and let my body release especially if it's upsetting you and then you can always move onto a new cycle- that's what I will do and just do another fet straight away but that's obviously up to you! Be kind to yourself the next few days and know that you WILL get your baby one day it's just a matter of time ❤️

OP posts:
Youngatheart00 · 21/11/2019 12:07

Thank you. I hope so.

Sadly no opportunity for a FET as we had nothing to freeze. Have taken a Cyclogest just now and will probably leave it at that. My bloods are in less than 24h time so if I do get a complete surprise I can catch up (I don’t see how that’s possible though given 3x neg tests and 5 days of increasing AF like bleeding)

I just want my body back to normal now. I think one thing this process has taught me is to respect my body and try and be as kind as possible to it.
