Hi all,

I have never written a post on here but thought it may be nice to get a thread going for anyone about to start ICSI/IVF. I am 28 and have been ttc for almost a year and have recently found out my husband has a very low sperm count (2 million) and ICSI is our only option. I was sure for so long something must be wrong with me so to find out it was him was a complete shock and I think we are both still adjusting. Fortunately we are able to go private and have my appointment to get the ball rolling on Wednesday. I have had a (all clear) and all of the bloods already so hoping we can get cracking next month so I am eager to get started. Everything is apparently fine with me apart from very mild pcos which I have been told shouldn’t effect my chances! I am still very anxious about the whole situation and just praying that the process will be successful.

If anyone has any tips or is in the same boat feel free to join!

First time writing on here. Just completed my 2nd ICSI cycle which ended in a miscarriage and feel completely devastated. Has anyone gone on to have a successful pregnancy after suffering 2 MC's?

LucyLucyT · 04/11/2019 08:21

@Pinkbaby83 I'm so sorry to hear that, there is no getting round how awful that must feel. Sending you virtual hugs. I'm sure there are lots of women who have been successful after a similar situation so don't give up hope. I'm afraid I've not had a BFP yet so can't give you a scenario myself. Take care of yourself x

Just back from egg collection. They got 15 eggs from 15 follicles, such a relief. Feels strange that those eggs I’ve cultivated are now in a dish somewhere! I feel tired now so nap time. Hope everyone is doing ok today.

siananigans · 04/11/2019 13:09

After all the horrendous dreams I've been having I was very relieved this morning to see a tiny little human-bean, with a tiny little heartbeat! ☺️
I'm 6w+5 and it measured about 7mm.
Mad to think after all this time I'm actually growing a little person in there!!

@LucyLucyT sending you lots of positivity too. I was sooo bloated and windy, hopefully it's a good sign for you as well!

@youngatheart00 I hope EC has gone/goes smoothly and you're not too sore after xx

Youngatheart00 · 04/11/2019 13:14

Oh @siananigans a heartbeat!! ❤️ That’s just fantastic happy news

NS05 · 04/11/2019 13:37

@Youngatheart00 that's great! Rest up, take it easy and fingers crossed for a good number fertilising.

I feel like my tummy is doubling in size each day, it's slightly distressing as had to lose a lot of weight to get treatment so I think I'm extra sensitive about it.. I know I've definitely gained some normal weight in the last few months with my two cycles as certainly been eating more and less able to exercise. Just hoping this is mostly fluid and gas as up until a week ago I was still fitting into my smallest clothes 😱

siananigans · 04/11/2019 17:36

@LucyLucyT ahh I'm sure it will be. If it helps at all I lost 2 stone before I started treatment reducing carbs, and when I was most swollen with the ohss I'd gone back up by half a stone!
Weighed myself today though and it's gone back down, not quite all the way but very nearly! Tbh I was pleasantly surprised how much had come back off because the only things that'll settle my nausea are carbs!
It'll all be worth it xx

Naughtyboob · 04/11/2019 20:09

@siananigans woo hoo!! So happy and excited for You!! I thought your scan was tomorrow sorry!!
@Youngatheart00 rest up and fingers crossed for lots fertilised tomorrow, let us know!
@pinkbaby83 so sorry to hear that, this is my first cycle but I have read about lots of lady's who have miscarried and do go on to have healthy pregnancies so don't give up hope xxx
Hope everyone is ok xxx

Pinkbaby83 · 05/11/2019 00:31

@Naughtyboob
Thank you for your positive thoughts. Good luck with your first cycle.
@LucyLucyT
Hope you get that BFP.
I'm not sure when I will start my 3rd cycle, my heads all over the place, thinking to take a break after getting 2 BFP with both ending in miscarriages :(
Baby dust to all xxx

Youngatheart00 · 05/11/2019 13:14

Also @LucyLucyT did you do anything different this time to last? They have moved my transfer to next Friday now as my lining needs to be a little bit thicker! You all give me so much hope! Xx

Youngatheart00 · 06/11/2019 10:13

@LucyLucyT amazing news!!!

LucyLucyT · 06/11/2019 11:09

Thanks everyone! I'm very happy but still nervous as I know it's very early and keep worrying that it was a fairly faint line on my test, but know that still means positive. Think I might test again at the weekend.

Main difference this time is I got a 5 day transfer, but I also got signed off work, which I'm pleased I did, especially as I seem to have developed a late onset OHSS.

Waiting to hear back from my clinic about next steps :-)

Hope everyone else is doing okay

LucyLucyT · 06/11/2019 12:46

@siananigans how quickly did you contact the midwife after BFP? I'm not going to do it straight away as want to test again in a couple of days to be sure! My area has an online form to send off. Don't know why I'm worrying about this, but that's me!
Clinic have rung me, early scan booked for Dec 2nd, seems so far away!

Pinkbaby83 · 06/11/2019 13:13

@LucylucyT
Congratulations, thats wonderful news.
I was told by the clinic today my 3rd cycle will commence end Feb 2020, seems really far away.
Good luck to everyone else x

LucyLucyT · 06/11/2019 14:29

@Pinkbaby83 thanks. I can imagine Feb seems so far away but I'm sure it'll pass quicker than you think. Make sure you give yourself a break and try and plan some nice things if you can xx

Naughtyboob · 06/11/2019 16:15

@lucylucyt congratulations!!!! We're doing well girls!!

NS05 · 06/11/2019 16:48

@Naughtyboob did you start your period yet? I asked about aspirin and they said it doesn't hurt but they don't feel I should as I'm young and have never had any miscarriages so I may leave it! Transfer has moved to next Friday now as my lining wasn't quite thick enough- guess it's better to wait though and at least I'll have the weekend to recover! X

@LucyLucyT I only called my midwife yesterday after we had the early scan on monday. I didnt really know I was meant to do it so it was only when the ivf clinic discharged me with a letter to take to my doctor/midwife that I thought I should do it! 🙈
The lovely Ivf nurses said "So you're just a normal pregnant lady now!" and I very much feel like I have absolutely no idea what I'm meant to be doing... An instruction manual would be handy!
