So here I am, we have been trying to conceive naturally since April last year, I have been to my doctor in March this year and have been referred for blood tests throughout my cycle, the results don’t appear to be very good, I’ve been told my progesterone is only a level 7 and to conceive has to be minimum of a level 30. I’m now waiting for the appointment with the fertility specialist it’s a 3 month wait, we’re half way through the wait.
I’m just looking for some info what will happen at my first fertility appointment as I’m feeling quite anxious i have no idea what to expect and has anyone else had low progesterone what course of treatment were you offered and was if successful, I really feel in limbo right now and quite down about the situation.

It sounds like your blood test did not confirm that you ovulated (a level of 30+ indicates ovulation).

At your first appointment they will explain the results and possibly recommend more tests such as a SA for your dh. If everything else is ok as a first step they will likely give you clomid for a few months to induce ovulation. Hopefully this will be all the treatment you need.

Hi ELH82 I am also new to the world of fertility. We have been TTC since October 2016. Like you I went to my GP in March this year. We completed all our test and had out first appointment with our NHS women's health unit on Wednesday just gone. We had a chat and looked at all our results. Orinally like you they thought I had not been ovulating, but after three more 21 bloods they are happy that I am. I have to go for a scan to check all is ok inside.

So they think that it may be DP as he done two SA and both came back with nothing in his samples. We have been referred on to see the consultant. It's about a three month waiting list so it'll be October/November when we see him.

How are you feeling about it all? Flowers

Hi Miss83

What are 21 day bloods, so new to this a lot of the terminology and abreviations I dont know, I’m finding it all overwhelming.

Should have mentioned in original post my husband has had a child previously he’s going for a SA but we’re expecting those results to come back normal.

I’ve had a bit of a google of Clomid I can’t seem to find much about how successful it is

Clomid worked for me, and my progesterone score was very similar to yours.

I've got PCOS. It took seven cycles on clomid but my clomid-baby is here!

So if you have a regular 28-ish cycle they will send you for 21 day bloods which is taken day 21 of your cycle to see if you have ovulated. If you have irregular cycles then I believe they ask you to go earlier for bloods in your cycle. I live in Wales and had to do two months of 21 bloods.

Our first appointment was just a chat and looking at all our results, though they have said I need to have an internal scan before we get called in again which I'm really not looking forward to!!

Fingers crossed clomid will work for you. Good to hear your hubby's ok so it's half the battle. I'm new to all this two, although I have a friend a little way ahead of me so it's good I have someone to ask questions to i really need to.
