Lots of follicles of ovaries but bloodwork normal?

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on my situation as I'm baffled!
Background: ttc #2 for 9 months. 3 chemical pregnancies.
I went to a&e at the beginning of the month following a lot of pelvic pain - the cause of which was undertmined but the consultant seemed to think it was due to blood dropped into my pelvis somehow. I was booked in for an ultrasound two weeks ago. The ultrasound showed more than 12 follicles on each ovary and I then had a full blood test done two days ago. The results came through today as normal and the GP doesn't think it needs discussing further. Can I push for the 21 day blood test?

Anyone?

What hormone levels were actually looked at?. Blood tests for this type of thing done on the wrong day can give a meaningless result.

What you need is a day 2 test to compare your LH level against that of FSH; an imbalance of LH to FSH is one possible indicator of polycystic ovaries. That may well have been what the ultrasound scan saw.

Pelvic pain particularly if cyclical in nature should always be investigated further. Endometriosis is a common cause of such pain and the consultant's comments made me think of that as well.

Blood tests can also be done according to calendar days as well, this is helpful too if periods are irregular in nature.

You will need to be persistent in order to get answers. DO not be fobbed off.

I have no idea, she just said general blood test. I thought I'd been fobbed off... shall I just call them Monday and demand another appointment?

I'm not sure that day 21 is of any relevance - you do get implantation and it goes wrong later on. Normally, after 3 miscarriages, you should be referred for further tests. You could ask your GP about that. Having a lot of eggs is a good thing - clearly, you do ovulate and the eggs get fertilised easily. If the GP is unhelpful, you could try another one or a private fertility clinic.

Hi @Justwaitingforaline just stumbled across this thread. Have you got hypothyroidism by any chance, or could you have? I've got it and apparently it can cause your ovaries to be multicystic or multifollicular. This is NOT the same as pcos (where the follicles are small and have a characteristic "string of pearls" appearance). Instead you get a large no of medium sized follicles. Apparently does not cause issues with ovulation/ability to conceive, but being hypothyroid can.

I've also had 3 mcs and have been diagnosed with high NK cells, an autoimmune problem (as is hypothyroidism). So it may be worth getting your thyroid checked as a first step, and then maybe looking into NK cells testing, though you can't get it on the NHS so it is expensive.
