Hello, is anyone due to start IVF In June? My consultant has put me forward to start IVF, my next appointment is April 26th and if I start on long protocol I would start stimms late May and egg retrieval would be mid June. Would love to hear from someone on the same path!

Hello thevox,

Thank you, I remember during my previous cycle I had taken the trigger shot when there were 4 follicles >18 mm , 1 was 23 mm by then which was way beyond others, rest were all 15,14, 12 etc. They had collected 11 eggs during ec. So if you have 4 follicles > 17 mm you should be good for trigger, all the best !!

Scottishgirl85 · 14/06/2017 18:27

Veinarde I asked the exact same thing, I has read about 18mm. I only had a few over that and got 16 eggs from around 21 follicles. 13 were mature. So some follicles will actually be empty, and not eggs will be mature.
I think with pcos the amount of immature eggs is higher, but avocado you will definitely still get an amazing number of eggs starting with so many follicles!

Scottishgirl85 · 14/06/2017 18:30

It's a balance as they don't want the big ones to overmature, as the biggest ones now are the strongest eggs. The 18mm thing seems to not be true in my opinion. Whenever I started to panic and question things, I reminded myself that the clinics are so experienced and it's in their interest for you to have the best possible chance as it improves their statistics! 😁

Veinarde · 14/06/2017 19:02

Thanks Scottish and hopes2bmom
My DH also says I should stop playing scientist and trust the Dr. He called me saying over 15mm will prob mature leading up to the EC and he expects around 10 eggs to be collected. I just feel quite worried that they all will be crap and I will be left with nothing to transfer. I was doing so well until today! Was so calm and now in total panic Sad . But I guess I can't control how my body reacts, I have to work with what I have. Stim more and I end up with OHSS, stim less - not enough eggs. My oestradiol came back with 13,900 which is quite high... ehhh

Hopes2bmom · 14/06/2017 19:06

Hello Veinarde,

When you think too much it will be more stressful, I know it's difficult but take it easy and stay positive! Everything will be perfect! Don't you worry 👍

Scottishgirl85 · 14/06/2017 20:29

All your worries are completely normal veinarde. I don't think a lot of eggs are needed to be honest. Out of 11 fertilised I had one transferred and 4 frozen. The rest went in the bin. It really is just the best handful that will be of any use, no matter how many eggs retrieved. Just think of macarena, 3 fertilised, 2 transferred and 1 frozen. So of her 3, 100% were usable. Of my 11, less than 50% were usable.

Scottishgirl85 · 14/06/2017 20:42

Speaking of macarena, how are you doing? Any symptoms? x

MrsDarcy4092 · 15/06/2017 05:51

This is such a great thread for information and support.
Good luck everyone.

My bleed started today bang on time but compared to normal it's heavier so far, is this to be expected? Should I prepare for a heavy bleed? 4 days till my first progress scan. Time is going fast!

Avocadosmoothie · 15/06/2017 08:58

Scottish, how many days sat transfer are you now? Have you tested again yet? x

*avocado what day are you on? How are you feeling? Good luck on your next scan xx

Scottishgirl85 · 15/06/2017 11:20

Thanks for your well wishes. I'm 9dp5dt and definitely out. Having severe period pains, but will dutifully take the progesterone until Tuesday to keep my clinic happy. I'm actually feeling OK as I've known for several days. Currently arranging a FET! 😁
Good luck macarena x

Avocadosmoothie · 15/06/2017 11:53

Scottish, I'm so sorry this one is looking like it hasn't worked out although it's not over until it's over! It must be a relief to have those 4 in the freezer? How soon can you do a FET? X

OP posts:
Scottishgirl85 · 15/06/2017 12:01

Not even got a glimmer of hope. Very in tune with my body and couldn't feel less pregnant if I tried! It would be showing at 14dpo. Feeling surprisingly okay after a couple of miserable days this week. Think I've come to terms with it. Can do fet on next period, so as soon as 6 weeks depending when my first period starts after the one that will inevitably start soon.
How are you doing with injections? x

Hopes2bmom · 15/06/2017 12:10

Went for a baseline scan on cd1 today, the scan was all good, the endometrium is lil thick than expected so then want me to bleed today and start my stims tomorrow, they want me to shed it with more bleed today. The blood works were also done, I would get the results in few hours, if all goes well, I'm all set to start stims tomorrow!!

Avocadosmoothie · 15/06/2017 12:27

Scottish, at least that's that's not toooo long to wait. Would you transfer one or two embryos with FET? They do say FETs have a higher success rate because all the stimulation injections are totally out of our system.

I did my third injection this morning. Injections have been fine, my husband has been doing them and haven't had any pain irritation. The Metformin side effects have kicked in this morning and they're not great.

I'm feeling super tired today, I can't keep my eyes open. I'm working from home and have had a morning nap and I feel like I need another! Is this a side effect of the injections?

OP posts:
Scottishgirl85 · 15/06/2017 12:32

Hmm I didn't get tired, maybe it's the metformin? Sounds like you're doing great so far, well done!
I'm 32 at the end of the month. My clinic are very pro one embryo at my age. Don't think I'd want to do two anyway. With 4 remaining I feel like I still have a chance. If I did two and it didn't work I'd have wasted two in one go if you see what I mean.

katherine7172 · 15/06/2017 15:05

Hi all! :)

Missed a few days on here, been a bit overwhelmed with everything haha!

Veinarde I'm the same as you, it took a long time to diagnose me with pcos as I'm not the typical for it. I have periods regularly just slightly longer than your average cycle but, no where the length as you'd expect with pcos. I also don't have hair growth which I've been told can come with it, I'm also in the right category of weight for my age and height. So I guess I can't be annoyed at the doctors that it took so long to diagnose.
Good luck with your EC on Friday! Flowers

Lauralife Think I'm a little bit behind you with the cycle. Merional hasn't been too bad, the tiredness has been the worst of it really. Also we've hit a nerve on 2 occasions with the injections, I cried like a little baby haha! Just read that you've had your dosage changed to 375, I'm currently on 150 of merional and they're having me in for a scan tomorrow to discuss whether to lower my dosage :/

Avocadosmoothie I'm not sure what my levels are for AMH, I'm not sure that I've ever been told. Is that bad? I feel like from reading everyone talking on here that I don't know half of my results for things, slightly worried now... Sad
I'm not on metformin currently but I was a couple years back. I started low and worked up as I was told you could get side effects, mainly feeling sick. I went up to the highest they could give me, I only had side effects for the first week, I was fine after that.
As for feeling sleepy, I'm with you on that. I was driving me and my husband home on Monday at about 2pm, I had to pull over and swap with him because I was so tired.

lostworkerbee Happy you got good results from your scan!

Macarena1980 Good luck with your test!

Scottishgirl85 So sorry! It's good that you have those 4 remaining though, how re you feeling about it all?

Hopes2bmom Welcome! Smile

mrsdarcey Welcome! Smile

I have pregnyl for my trigger shot, has anyone else got this or had any experience with it?

I'm on day 7 of stims today, I had my scan witha nurse today to check follicle count and size. I've been asked to go back tomorrow for another scan so, they can determine whether to lower my dosage.
I have to start using the Dalacin cream tonight, anyone got any tips or pointers for this?

Sorry for the super long message, hope I've answered everything and not missed anyone out! Bear

lostworkerbee · 15/06/2017 19:54

Wow, so much to catch up on!

I'm so sorry Scottish. I don't know what to say. But so good you have your frozen embryos. I completely understand your nervousness to transfer two. Keeping everything crossed for you and hope you're doing ok.

Good luck for tomorrow Veinarde. I was hoping my ec would be tomorrow as well, but it looks like it will be Monday. Scan yesterday showed everything doing well, but not quite there. Expecting to have to trigger Saturday evening, whilst at a gig, which will be interesting! OH convinced it will be fine, but I am worried!

Katherine. Glad everything is going well. I don't have any experience of dalacin, but I'm sure someone will have advice. This is such a helpful thread. Not sure which trigger I'll be using but will find out tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is well with stims and good luck Macarena. Sorry the metformin side-effects have shown up avocado.

I had a nightmare this morning when I realised on the train to work that I'd forgotten to do my suprecur injection...cue massive panic! I had to get the train home and was over an hour late. Oops!

Scottishgirl85 · 15/06/2017 20:30

Katherine I used pregnyl. We found it the most stressful part of the whole process, because you're given an exact time for it. You have to mix it yourself and we had plastic syringe and needles to attach ourselves. In the end it was just like all the others, but we did panic a bit! Just as hubby was about to inject I noticed the leaflet said intramuscular into bum!! We just had to go for it in tummy and I felt so sick thinking we'd messed it all up. A quick google afterwards told me we were fine and in fact intramuscular needs a nurse to do it! So our experience was stressful but it shouldn't have been! My advice is to sit down a good 10 mins before injection due and do everything really slowly and carefully. It's a bit fiddly and hubby's hands were shaking! I just kept saying to him, don't dare drop the tiny glass bottle, cz then whole cycle would be ruined!

Scottishgirl85 · 15/06/2017 20:33

Good luck for tomorrow veinarde!! You'll be absolutely fine and it's exciting to hear how many eggs they collect, so focus on that xx

Lauralife · 15/06/2017 21:23

Hi all,

Veinarde, wishing you all the best with EC tomorrow!! I spoke to my clinic regarding the "trilaminar" uterine lining query and you're right about it meaning triple lined (shows up as three stripes/lines in womb lining on an ultrasound) .If any ladies hear this term please don't be worried as it is considered a good thing as it indicates towards a receptive lining/uterus for implantation.

Katherine, please don't be concerned with the dosage of merional... just keep in my mind every woman is different and that your dosage it tailored to you! SmileI know how you feel about the injections.... I hit a vein I think once, it hurt soo bad and I got a bruise from it! I am soo looking forward to finishing these injections!

Hugs to you Scottish. I hope your feeling OK, everyone is right to try and focus on your frosties now, to have 4 is amazing!

I still can't believe how fast the cycle is going. It's taken 5 years to get to this stage so far and now so much is happening fast. I had a third scan yesterday and just like bee, was due to have EC tomorrow but had it pushed back to Monday. I've also picked up my trigger shot (ovietrelle - currently sitting in the fridge) and a tonne of progesterone pessaries( yay ) so I guess I'm all set for the next part now! I have another check up scan tomorrow and will also be finding out what time to trigger!

Hi to all the new girls! and positive vibes for everyone else wherever you are in your cycle!
Xx

lostworkerbee · 15/06/2017 22:03

Laura - can't believe how similar our timings /cycles have been! Good luck for scan tomorrow x

mynameisscott · 15/06/2017 23:40

Hey everyone - wow there's loads of folks on here now, hello! Sorry Scottish to hear that you've not had success this time, guess we all know to be prepared for disappointment but doesn't stop it being rubbish. I went for my first scan/blood yesterday, everything looking fine but they want me to carry on stimming for a couple of days - back for another scan tomorrow then probably EC on Monday. My mind keeps going blank exactly around the time I'm supposed to be doing my injection - DH is having to remind me, so weird I'm thinking of nothing else the rest of the time! I'm on day 10 now so nearly done. Hasn't been anywhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Marbles still present! X

mynameisscott · 15/06/2017 23:44

Oh Veinarde good luck! I only had 5 follicles over 15mm but a whole bunch coming up so that's why they wanted to wait a couple more days. I'm pretty worried my old eggs are going to be rubbish but we'll see!
