Hello, is anyone due to start IVF In June? My consultant has put me forward to start IVF, my next appointment is April 26th and if I start on long protocol I would start stimms late May and egg retrieval would be mid June. Would love to hear from someone on the same path!

Hi everyone.

I had my scan today. 15 follicles - 5 of which were 11-12mm the rest were 10 or smaller. I think this is ok, but I don't really know! Back for another scan on Wednesday.

Those who have had first scan, how did you feel after? I felt absolutely fine before but I'm sure I feel different since - like a heavy feeling. I'm sure I can feel my ovaries. Think I'm going mad!!

Hope everyone is doing well x

Avocadosmoothie · 12/06/2017 19:34

Veinarde - I'm scared about the metformin now!!! I just took 1000mg with tea but tomorrow and the next days I've been told to take 2000mg!!! Even the nurse seemed worried for me!

When you say it made you feel awful... what exactely? If you don't mind saying!

Veinarde · 12/06/2017 20:28

lostworkerbee sounds like great scan results! Hope the smaller follicles will catch up just in time for the next scan!
I had mine yesterday and it wasn't too uncomfortable. I also 'feel' my ovaries, not painful but rather heaviness. xx

avocado i replied on other thread xx

lostworkerbee · 12/06/2017 20:38

Thanks Veinarde, that's very reassuring. I don't have any pain either, I just feel them! Im also much more bloated this evening.

Avocado - can you double check again with your clinic? I hope you're ok

x

Macarena1980 · 12/06/2017 22:44

Hi all, sorry not checked in for a few days! So much is happened, good luck to all the people getting ready for egg collection! I felt so bloated and uncomfortable for the whole time.

Scottish I know it's so tempting to do test early, we have Blood test a week today, but have decided to do a home test on sat morn. So if it doesn't go our way we have the weekend to get used to the idea. Couldn't face being told over the phone next Monday as I might be at work when they phone.

I've had a lot of period like cramps since ET... it felt like they phased off a bit yesterday but back today... so confused if this is good or bad... when they went away I was worried that it hadn't worked and now there back I'm thinking it might be my OF on its way! Confused

Hope everyone is well and good luck to everyone with there's scans and injections I did feel better after ER.

Xx

Avocadosmoothie · 13/06/2017 12:17

Hi Macarena, how many days past transfer will Saturday be for you? I agree about not wanting to find out in work - whatever the result!

I did my first injection this morning. Well, I chickened out and my husband did it. I suspected I wouldn't be able to inject myself when the time came but I was fine with my husband doing it.

Spoke to the clinic about Metformin (which I'm taking to reduce OHSS risk) and they said I could start off lower and increase to 2000mg over a few days if I am worried. I decided to at least give 2000mg a try. The clinic must think I need it to fend off OHSS so I've started and will see how we go. I took 1000mg last night, 1000mg this morning and will take another 1000mg tonight. So far no side effects but I guess it is too early to tell. From what I understand I think the side effects of OHSS could be worse than the side effects of Metformin which is motivation for giving it a shot!

How is everyone today? Anyone due for a scan or blood test today?

Hi all,

I had my monitoring scan yesterday. I think i'm similar to you lostworkerbee which is reassuring, a nurse did the scan and told me afterwards that I'm ranging from 10 to 12mm but I have a 4,5 and 6mm one that they want to see get larger. My dosage has therefore been increased from 300 to 375 merional for the next two days.

Ladies that have also reached/past monitoring scans.... Has your clinic mentioned the term trilaminar when referring to your uterine lining during scans? I heard the nurse tell her assistant and she wrote it down on my notes. My first instinct is to Google like crazy but I'm trying to not obsess over things during this cycle.... I will mention it tomorrow at my next scan though.

avocado - how are you feeling today with the metformin?

veinarde - I would prefer to be completely knocked out with general anesthetic for EC! Im debating if I should take a hammer in with me just in case the sedation doesn't go to plan! Confused

scottish - it's natural to get the urge to test early after everything Ivf ladies go through I think. Don't be disheartened as you still have a few days to go to get accurate results. I know it's easy to say but when you feel low just keep reminding yourself about your fab quality embryoes Smile. In my opinion youve done brilliantly!

Xx

Macarena1980 · 13/06/2017 13:31

Avacado 10 Days past, do you think that's enough? The nurse said we shouldn't but if we couldn't wait at to wait till then. She asked me not to say she'd said that. Xx

Avocadosmoothie · 13/06/2017 13:57

10 days past transfer? How many days past EC (I think that matters too). Personally, I would be happy to test at 10 days past transfer. My clinic has recommended 14 days past transfer but I can see other clinics recommend 12 days and lots of ladies get their BFP earlier. I don't think I would test any earlier than 10 days (famous last words!)

Veinarde · 13/06/2017 14:20

lauralife regarding uterine lining I think that means it is 'triple-lined' which supposed to be a good thing :)
When is your next scan?

Regarding testing I think I will be so scared to be disappointed that I won't be testing until it's absolutely necessary!!

macarena when is your test day? Cramping could be implantation! Fingers crossed!

Macarena1980 · 13/06/2017 16:26

My test date is Mondays. So Saturday will be 15 days past ER. weve promised if we get a positive we will try not to get too excited until the blood test just in case. But if it's negative then I think we are better to get it out of the way. Fingers crossed. This is the longest week ever!!! Glad I'm back st with to take my mind off it. Xx

Scottishgirl85 · 13/06/2017 19:08

Wow so much activity on here! Sorry for no personals as I can't remember who's at exactly what stage! Good luck for injections and scans, everyone sounds at a really similar stage! Seems like everyone is doing short protocol?
I'm testing everyday! Macarena I envy your self control! Wishing you so much luck.
I'm still getting negatives at 7dp5dt, which is equivalent to 2 days before period if this was a normal cycle. I'm definitely out, I just feel too normal and boobs aren't sore in the slightest. With my little girl my boobs were agony by this point. I've already emailed my clinic to ask when I can do a fet! For me testing early has been good as I've had less days to be hopeful and more days to come to terms with it. But I would strongly recommend against it!!! I'm feeling so so sad but trying to sort my head out and prepare for the next steps. My OTD isn't until a week today, which will be 14dp5dt, that's just crazy - 19 days after ovulation aka egg collection.
Wishing you all so much luck, sorry to bring a depressed post to the mix!
Xx

Macarena1980 · 13/06/2017 19:53

Sorry to hear that Scottish, although my clinic said 9 defo dont test till 9 days after so maybe there is still hope? I'm new to all this so don't have a clue what to expect.
It's so hard as you don't want to build up hopes, while staying positive at same time! Hope you're okay. Xx

Hi Hopes2bemom - welcome!

I had my first tracking scan today (day 8), and they said I'm ready for collection! 19 follicles over 10mm, so they're calling this afternoon to let me know when to take the trigger shot, and then it should be EC time this weekend! I can't believe after 2 years of waiting it's all happening so quickly. Confused

Any tips on getting through the procedure? I've never been sedated before.

Hope everyone else is tracking well! xxx

Scottishgirl85 · 14/06/2017 12:25

Good luck vox!! Will it be general anaesthesia? It was my first time under ga and I found it quite enjoyable! I dreamed which I didn't expect!! Fuzzy feeling before it takes full affect, it was my favourite part of the whole process! 😁 Good luck, looks like you'll get great numbers.
Welcome hopes!

Hopes2bmom · 14/06/2017 12:25

Hello thevox,

For my first ivf cycle, my egg collection wasn't that bad, they had collected 11 eggs in a short protocol, i had taken some antibiotics 2 hours before the price and I was given local anesthetic and I did not know anything that happened after that 😳 Then had mid cramping and dizziness after the collection. Rested that evening and I was okay the next day. So from my exp, you ll be perfectly fine for EC, lots of love and luck!!

thevox · 14/06/2017 13:24

Thank you ladies! Feeling a bit better about it - I could do with a decent sleep so perhaps I'll love the GA!

They forgot to confirm my name before they took my bloods this morning, and ended up taking 4 times more than was needed. I passed out, nurse hit the panic button, and I ended up with half the unit rushing in to "revive" me. Blush

Let's hope I cope better with the EC!

Avocadosmoothie · 14/06/2017 13:25

Vox, wow - great numbers and so quick! Did they give an indication of how many eggs to expect? Would it be max 19 or does it not work like that? Which trigger shot are you taking?

I'm on day 2 of injections and have my first scan on Sunday. Stomach is definitely a bit off today which must be the Metformin registering!

Hello avocado,

How did your dr go? I'm on DR now, my first long protocol, I have a question here, yesterday I just got some spotting and then over the night and today it has not turned to a full bleed neither spotting, it's kinda scanty, I'm worried if this is an issue, my clinic will start the meds only day 2 of a full bleed, how was yours?

Avocadosmoothie · 14/06/2017 14:08

Hopes, I am on short protocol so I didn't need to DR. Perhaps one of the girls on long could help you but sounds like you might need to ask the clinic. Sorry, I don't know too much about long and DR!

OP posts:
Hopes2bmom · 14/06/2017 14:23

Thank you avocado!

thevox · 14/06/2017 16:02

Avocado - they didn't say on eggs, just that there were 19 big follicles, and lots of smaller ones they didn't bother to count. I'm hoping that bodes well, though I know I had a cyst so at least one them must be a dud!

I'm taking Ovitrelle as trigger. That will be my last injection for this cycle, wahoo!

Veinarde · 14/06/2017 16:22

hopes2bmum welcome! Good luck with DR!

thevox congrats, good results!
I also had a scan today on day 8. Counted 17 follicles above 10mm, including 4 that are more than 17mm. Other 23 are random. My clinic came back with instructions to trigger tonight for EC on Friday! I am totally freaking out. Feel quite worried about number of large follicles - only 4 above 17mm. Am I wrong to assume follicles have to be more than 18mm to have a mature egg in them?? I emailed the clinic to confirm. Total panic here :(

Hope everyone else is ok! Xxx
