Hello, is anyone due to start IVF In June? My consultant has put me forward to start IVF, my next appointment is April 26th and if I start on long protocol I would start stimms late May and egg retrieval would be mid June. Would love to hear from someone on the same path!

Also those who have gone through transfer... were your transferred embryos hatching on day 5? X

mynameisscott · 24/06/2017 16:02

Hello everyone. We did our ET today, I got 2 put in and one going in the freezer. We have 2 more that might be ok to freeze but we don't know for sure until Monday. I'm chuffed with that - I'm an oldie (39) too Blueberry - which is why they recommended 2. We had ours monitored using Eeva which is a time lapse imaging technique that helps them select the best ones for transfer because they can see how fast they're developing. All are day 5. I've got my confirmation bloods on 7 July so nowt to do but keep taking the progesterone and wait! Sending all the best wishes to everyone. X

katherine7172 · 24/06/2017 17:20

Blueberry – Welcome Smile How are you feeling post EC?
Avocadosmoothie – Congrats on those great numbers! How are you feeling?
Veinarde – Is it too early for symptoms? When are you planning on testing? Keeping everything crossed for you Smile

Lauralife – It’s all sounding very promising with your little ones, congrats!
Lostworkerbee – Glad everything went well for your transfer Smile How did you find the full bladder part of it? Fingers crossed the other one catches up for tomorrow.
Mynameisscott – Your numbers sound great too, congrats!

Bit of a surreal day for me, Hubby and I went it for 9am for my second OHSS monitoring appointment. Nurse said my bloating had dropped 10cm in 2 days and was amazed due to having 48 EC that I was completely fine. I felt like I was dying on Wednesday & Thursday, then suddenly Friday I felt like my old self. I was walking around, took the dogs out, no pain which was nice! They took my blood again and sent it off urgent and said come back in an hour, if the blood test results are okay you’ll be having your transfer. We were in shock as majority of people so far had said very unlikely we’ll transfer and the embryos will actually get frozen. Took a little longer waiting on the test results but, they came back clear! So we had the ET, we had one put it which we had been told that would happen due to my age. Very surreal watching it on the screen, when they showed us it they said it had actually started to hatch which it wasn’t doing earlier. I think that’s a good sign, right?
I believe that Lauralife, Lostworkerbee, Mynameisscott & I are all due to test on the same day then, July 7th? Is anyone risking testing earlier or are you going to grizz it out till the 7th, I’m not sure I can wait that long.

Question – Does anyone know how long it takes for Pregnyl to be out your system by the way?

Hope everyone is good! Trying not to get my hopes up too high but, feeling very smiley Smile

Scottishgirl85 · 24/06/2017 18:19

Sorry I'm not checking in much with this thread now. But wanted to wish everyone all the very best! Try to wait as long as you can to test! Think pregnyl out of system after about 10 days for 5000 dose.
We had a hatching blastocyst at absolute top quality, there really is no telling.
Got everything crossed for everybody xx

Veinarde · 24/06/2017 21:04

Well done having your embies on board :) congrats! I will be testing one week before you on 1st July xx

lostworkerbee · 24/06/2017 21:21

Laura, Katherine, Scott - great news on your transfers and frosties. My otd is 5th July and I have to phone my clinic to let them know either way. Going to try to hold out until then.

Laura - that's so cool you got a picture! Agree the wait is going to be unbearable. I think it already is!!

Katherine - sounds like quite a rollercoaster day but so pleased you have avoided OHSS and managed to have your fresh transfer. I found the procedure fine today - even the full bladder. Was almost scare to pee afterwards, which I know is ridiculous!

Scott - snap, I'm 39 too! I am starting to wonder whether we should have had two put back. I just wasn't expecting them to ask us as all the lead up they've been focusing on one. We were put on the spot a bit Confused DH very nervous about twins as we already have a DS, I wouldn't mind though!

Blueberry and avocado - hope you're both recovering well from your ec. Blueberry, have you heard from your clinic?

xx

mynameisscott · 25/06/2017 10:40

Hi Lost, we spoke about it quite a bit before so were primed for going for two if we had one to freeze - this was also the embryologist's advice. If we hadn't had one to freeze I'm not sure if I would have been quite so willing. Twins would be quite a shock (DH has an 8yo daughter too-we'd need to move for sure!) but at the same time, it would absolutely mean we wouldn't need to go through this again... I think the odds are pretty low of that happening though. I read an article recently that putting two back actually gives you less of a chance if one is poorer quality https://www.theguardian.com/science/2017/jan/05/ivf-pregnancy-less-successful-with-two-embryos-study-finds? So if they weren't sure about your other one maybe that's better? It's clearly not an exact science or there would be far less uncertainty. I really do trust our clinic and they've been so great with us. I feel it's quite amazing we've got to this stage, there's so much negativity around age and fertility, which is depressing because I don't feel old! I only met my husband and felt ready to settle down at 35 ... You've made the right choice for you, and the 2ww will be bad enough without adding extra pressure, so try not to worry. X

lostworkerbee · 25/06/2017 11:45

Thanks Scott. I think you're right, we all have to go with what's right for us. I think I was just hoping for more of a steer from the embryologist yesterday. Anyway the good news we've just had is that the third one has caught up, is good quality and is suitable for freezing. If I'd known that yesterday I'd have had no hesitation about how many to put back, so it is a relief!

I agree we're doing well given the doom and gloom around fertility and age. Long may it continue! 😉

Veinarde - I missed your update yesterday. Do you think you'll hold out until Saturday?

Hope everyone's having a nice Sunday xx

Avocadosmoothie · 25/06/2017 13:16

When did everyone feel totally back to normal after EC? I had my EC on Friday and still feel a little sore today. Not particularly painful and I've been fine walking around etc but it's still a little tender when I sit down

OP posts:
lostworkerbee · 25/06/2017 17:42

Hi Avocado. I felt much better by day 3. Totally back to normal by day 4. Day 2 was still painful in the day but better in the evening. How are you feeling now? Hope it has started to ease for you x

Avocadosmoothie · 25/06/2017 18:25

Thanks lost. I've been feeling better this afternoon and probably almost back to normal. Hopefully by tomorrow or Tuesday I'll be recovered!

Macarena1980 · 25/06/2017 21:36

Hi everyone, not checked in for a bit so just catching up! Great numbers for all the EC's and sounds like ET's are going well! So much going on.

Avocado - I still felt a bit uncomfortable and crampy for a good few days after, so think it's all normal. Think by day 3/4 I was much better but took a wee while before I wasn't aware of it.

Laura - don't think our enbmyros were hatching they told me one was a 4AB AND the 2nd was still cavitating. Think hatching is better but obviously it still works.

Welcome Blueberry, your situation sounds similar to mine I took Gonal for longer and Ovitrelle also private. Hope your feeling better after egg transfer.

Good luck for all the 2 week waits and ET's still to come!

I'm feeling good, just counting down to my scan now 3 weeks to go! Trying to not get carried away until then, and plan to much until then, but it's so hard!

Xx

thevox · 26/06/2017 11:05

Morning all!

How is everyone getting on today? I've been keeping busy and I'm now back to work, but the next 2 weeks are going to be very long indeed!

How's everyone planning on staying sane during their 2ww? x

MrsDarcy4092 · 26/06/2017 12:10

Hi everyone, my first progress scan didn't go as well as hoped I'm not responding as expected. Just waiting for blood results this afternoon to know next steps but on my baseline scan I had 23 follicles and this morning only 6. They were from 7-12 mm and my lining was 7.8 which I think is good.
Feeling really disappointed though !

Avocadosmoothie · 26/06/2017 12:57

Hi all!

Macarena - what info will you get at the 7 week scan? I guess there isn't too much they can tell you at that stage? Should a heartbeat be detectable at the point?

Darcy - which injection day are you on? It sounds like the 6 follicles are responding? Although appreciate it looks like others aren't. Hopefully they could increase your dosage? I think someone else in this group had their dosage increased mid way and I had mind decreased so it's probably normal to have to adjust.

As for me..... I am feeling back to normal today after EC. I wanted to feel 100% normal for ET so I am glad to be recovered. I had my day 3 update call from the embryologist today.... all 15 embryos are developing. 14 are on track/slightly ahead at 8 cells or more and 1 is 4 cells.

I have a question for those who have transferred..... if I get to Wednesday and I still have several embryos at the same stage, how will the embryologist choose which to transfer? Natural selection is my main concern about IVF so I was hoping that by the time ET comes, we would be able to identify the single most developed embryo and go with that one. What do you think? I'm hoping the technology is so sophisticated that they will be able to identify the most developed embryo but the embryologist told me on the phone this morning that she couldn't choose a best option at this stage.

OP posts:
Macarena1980 · 26/06/2017 13:24

Avocado, think it will be 8 weeks at my scan, they say they can see a heart beat, also check if its at a healthy size and if all is good my clinic will release me to my GP. I will also get to see if both embies made it. So there's a slight chance there could be 2 heartbeats. Shock xx

Macarena1980 · 26/06/2017 13:33

Also on the day of transfer, the embryologist gave us an update on all 3 embies we had a clear 1st choice and 2nd based on the stage and shape. She told me we had one which was almost perfect but had slight fragmentation then one which was nice but was still cavitating so a bit slow... the other was much further behind. I guess it must be hard if you have lots of good ones. But I think they will scrutinise them to pick out the best of the bunch. We used EEVA which records the development up to day 3 then grades the embies and ranks in order, however when we got to day 5 the embryologist had a new favourite based on the way they had developed since day 3. I think they will advise you on which is the best, my embryologist said they were pretty nit picky. Xx

Avocadosmoothie · 26/06/2017 13:42

I bet you can't wait for the scan Macarena! Do you have a gut feeling whether it's twins or not? Is this your first baby?

OP posts:
mynameisscott · 26/06/2017 14:16

Hi Avocado. We used Eeva like Macarena too and the eggs get graded 1-5. We had 12223 at day 3 and by ET day had 3 very good blastos- one from the grade 3 and two of the 2s. The embryologist said they were all good quality so we put 2 back and have frozen one. Got a call today to say the others weren't good enough to freeze. I'm feeling worse after my ET than I did after EC. Really sore and bloated and off work today with horrible UTI. Feeling pretty odd in general but I'm just hoping that's a good sign...

Macarena1980 · 26/06/2017 16:34

Yes can't wait for scan, hoping I'll relax a bit after it. At first I thought it might be twins as I was feeling sick quite early but now I'm not so sure as I feel okay and think the symptoms were maybe after effects of ivf. DH thinks it's twins tho!!! Shock I'll be happy either way.

Scott I felt pretty bad after ET, feel a bit better a few days after, but still quite crampy and bloated for a good wee while after. Not sure how much was from the after efforts of drugs or pregnancy symptoms. Hope you feel better soon.

Xx

Macarena1980 · 26/06/2017 16:36

Ps: it's my first so not quite sure what to expect xx

Avocadosmoothie · 26/06/2017 16:55

I think I've got it written down at home somewhere but just wondering..... are we supposed to take a progesterone pessary the morning of ET or not?

OP posts:
mynameisscott · 26/06/2017 17:11

Yes! I wondered the same but was told yes definitely. Remember to drink water for a full bladder too. I totally forgot and went to the loo! Had to gulp down several glasses in the waiting room...

MrsDarcy4092 · 26/06/2017 20:45

Hi, I'm on day 6 of stims.

My amh was 22 and follicle count was 23 in total so they were expecting me to have responded much better . They checked my oestrogen today to be sure they weren't missing any follicles on the scan but my oestrogen was low so confirmed the scan results. They also said the follicles were on the small side for what they would expect, I had one at 7, one at 9, two at 10 one at 11 and one at 12. I was quite pleased with it but I really have no idea what they should be at this stage.
I was on 225 menopur now up to 300 so fingers crossed.

katherine7172 · 26/06/2017 20:57

thevox - I'm sure I can plan to stay sane through this wait, losing the will already!

mrsdarcey - It's not always quantity though, I had 48 eggs taken, we had one embryo transferred and only one more was good enough to freeze. So less seems to be better so, try not to worry!

Avocadosmoothie - On day 3 the embryologist said there were 4 that were all on par, it wasn't until day 5 when he said that there was a clear winner. I think between day 3 and 5 they study them a lot and they either develop a lot or don't so, I think they always have a clear choice by that point.

Macarena - That's so exciting to hear the heart beat! Are you really excited?

Losing the will to live a bit and I'm on 2dp5dt, not sure how I'll last till 7th July! Had quite a bit of back ache today as well which has me worried Hmm

Hope everyone else on the 2ww is feeling hopeful and positive, sending love!
