Hello, is anyone due to start IVF In June? My consultant has put me forward to start IVF, my next appointment is April 26th and if I start on long protocol I would start stimms late May and egg retrieval would be mid June. Would love to hear from someone on the same path!

Congrats macarena! Lovely news.

We had EC yesterday, they got 10 eggs and 5 have fertilised. All going well we'll go in for ET on Saturday. Feeling nervous but positive.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

lostworkerbee · 20/06/2017 11:20

Hello everyone. Just had the call from the clinic - 5 of mine fertilised. Feeling quite positive. Transfer is either Thursday or Saturday, depending on how they do. Feels so weird to think of them sat the other side of London!

Good luck for tomorrow Veinarde.

How are you feeling today Katherine? I'm still a bit sore but it is definitely easing.

How's everybody else doing? xx

Avocadosmoothie · 20/06/2017 11:52

Scottish - FET in July is great - not too long to wait. I think based on your age (you're under 35?) you must be in the 80% success over 2 transfers so the odds are really in your favour next time.

Vox - how are you feeling? Are you still suffering? I hope it has eased up at least a bit!

Macarena - CONGRATULATIONS! So happy for you! Are you with the NHS? Just wondering if all IVF BFPs get offered an early scan?

Lost - 5 is really great, glad you can relax a bit now.

Katherine - wow! 48! How are you feeling now? At your scan prior to EC did you have 48 > 10mm? I have nearly 50 follicles but over half are under 10mm at injection day 8.

Veinarde - so is it confirmed you will have a fresh transfer? That's excellent!

As for me..... I had a scan this morning on day 8 of injections. I kind of last track of numbers (I have a lot of follicles!) but I have around 50 in total with half of those under 10mm and 7 around the 17mm mark. My eostrdiol on injection day 6 was 2725 which was apparently within the normal range but will be interesting to see what it is today! I'm going in again tomorrow when we will decide whether EC will be Fri or Mon.

I have a couple of questions for those who have had EC if anyone can help!...... Did your follicles under 10mm at your last scan provide an egg? Or was your number of eggs collected similar to number of follicles over say 15mm at last scan? Also, what was your estradiol level on injection 8?

Thanks! x

Hi everyone, glad everyone's ec went good. It seems 5 is the magic number on this thread! Congrats bee and Scott

I had egg collection yesterday with only 5 eggs collected. I was soo disappointed with the number. I just spent yesterday at home deflated preparing myself for the worst.

I then had a call this morning from the embryologist to find out that all eggs were mature and managed to fertilise. I feel a little better today emotionally knowing they all manged to fertilise and we are really hoping that we manage to get the 1 good embryo. All going well, my clinic have said I will either transfer Thursday(day3) or Saturday(day5).

As for EC procedure, I feel like I haven't had anything done which is soo weird. I was soo worried for nothing! The worst part of the procedure for me was the two hour wait beforehand and having the IV put it. I was sedated for the procedure and I went straight to sleep (even before they had put the probe in!). I woke up in recovery tired/groggy, this lasted until the afternoon but I haven't been in a any pain or had any bleeding afterwards. I hope this is reassuring for any ladies preparing for their EC. Smile

My best wishes for everyone during their cycle!

Avacado, on Friday just gone(day before trigger) they told me that my follicles were ready for collection. The 5 with mature eggs in were all over 20mm if that's any help.

lostworkerbee · 20/06/2017 13:00

Haha Laura and Scott, that's amazing we all have five!!

Avocado - at my scan on Friday I had 6 over 17mm, 1 at 16 and 1 at 15. I haven't had estradiol monitored, so can't help with that - sorry.

mynameisscott · 20/06/2017 14:11

Hi avocado, I had 28 follicles and about half were over 10mm and the rest under, most of the larger ones were on my left ovary but I had 5 or so large ones on the right too. The embryologist said she only got 1 egg on the right and 9 on the left! So some of my follicles didn't have any eggs. I didn't ask about size of follicles that produced the eggs I was so delighted there were some at all. I think I'm older than most on this thread though so things won't be to fruitful for me. I'm chuffed to be in such good company with 5 fertilised. X

Scottishgirl85 · 20/06/2017 14:31

Wow so many embryos currently growing all over the place, well done ladies!!!

Wishing you all so much luck, I hope I have used up the bad luck for this thread. It's my OTD today, feels strange as I grieved and moved on what seems like weeks ago even though it's not been that long!

I'm 31 (32 next week), so hopeful one of my frozen embryos is our much wanted baby. I swing between hope and sadness, guess it's all normal feelings. What a roller-coaster...

x

katherine7172 · 20/06/2017 14:58

Hi everyone :)

I had a phone call earlier about my eggs, 12 of them have fertilised and are in the embryscope now as we type. Very happy with that Smile
Apparently 9 of them also fertilised but, too late. Another 3 fertilised but were abnormal and the rest were immature, which we were expecting.

Veinarde & Avocadosmoothie - A good nights sleep always makes the world of difference so feeling a bit better, I just hate the bloating! I look like I'm about 5 months pregnant :|
Good luck for your transfer tomorrow Veinarde, hoping you'll have some to freeze.

Avocodosmoothie - I wish I could help you out more but, all I knew before EC was that I had roughly 20 follicles on each side. I asked for specifics on sizes and quantities but, they were very vague. Didn't know if they were trying to keep me calm as I'm quite a stressy person and they'd had to give me a serious chat on OHSS several times.

mynameisscott & lostworkerbee & Lauralife - How are you feeling after your EC yesterday? Congrats to you both on your 5 eggs fertilised!

Scottishgirl85 - I'm sure one of your frozen embryos will be your baby, keeping everything crossed for you! I think swinging back and forth with emotions is very normal, so don't worry about that.

Anyone know how long it will take for the bloating to go down?
Also I'm having to measure my fluid intake and my fluid output and write it all down, has anyone else had to do this? It's for the OHSS monitoring, just trying to work out if I'm on take to avoid it or not.
Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Hope I've not missed anyone or anything!

thevox · 20/06/2017 15:57

Afternoon - so much happening! Macarena huge congrats. Katherine I am stunned, 48!? That's insane!

Good luck for your ET tomorrow Veinarde - I have everything crossed for you

Lostworkerbee I hope you are recovering well from your EC

Scottish sorry to hear this cycle worked out that way, but onwards and upwards now to the FET! x

I'm still not doing too well post EC. I was put on 0.5mg of Cabergoline to help with the OHSS but it's got some serious side effects like dizziness; which are exacerbated by hot weather. So I am having so much fun! Yesterday I lost my balance and smacked my head on our dining table, so DH is having to take a day off work to supervise me in case of concussion. I feel like a bit of a tit after that one...

I'm back to the clinic for some bloods and a scan tomorrow to see how things are going. Nausea has been really bad, making it very difficult to get 3 litres of fluids down each day. I started vomiting today as well, so I'm feeling extra sorry for myself! We are all quite confident though that I am suffering due to a mix of the Cabergoline, constipation (3 days now, yikes), and the heat.

Roll on Saturday when I take my last dose of Cab, nasty stuff, but still preferable to OHSS.

katherine7172 · 20/06/2017 16:17

Thevox So sorry to hear you're suffering! Hope your head isn't too sore, that's one thing you don't need on top of your other symptoms. Hope the medication symptoms ease off and get you back to your old self in no time.
Hoping you feel better soon Flowers
Just wondering about your OHSS, how did you know you has it before the doctors confirmed?
I keep going back and forth, can't figure out whether it's OHSS or normal to feel the way I do after EC Confused

mynameisscott · 20/06/2017 18:17

Oh gosh thevox that sounds nasty indeed! Hope you're over that soon.

Katherine I feel pretty fine after EC. I got a general so was out cold and groggy after but fine after an hour. I feel a bit of pressure and nipping in my abdomen when I cough and I'm a bit bloated but not extremely so. Just taking paracetamol when I need and using my lovely(!!) Cyclogest pessaries.

I was told to keep an eye on symptoms because there's a bit of a risk of OHSS but I'm back at work and being as normal as possible. Just willing those 5 wee fertilised eggs to do their stuff!

We've paid for Eeva (Early Embryo Viability Assessment) as hoping that'll help our chances. Anyone heard of this? Think our clinic is one of the first in Scotland to use it?

Macarena1980 · 20/06/2017 19:11

Avocado, We didn't qualify for NHS unfortunately so with a private clinic, not sure about NHS scans. Sounds like you've got a great number! I had 10 folicals above the minimum size and they got 10 eggs, sorry can't remember the sizes. Xx

Vox hope you are okay! Rest up and take care!

Great news for everyone re egg collections! Xx

thevox · 20/06/2017 19:54

Thanks for the well wishes.

Katherine my clinic hasn't said it's OHSS; we think it's a side effect of the medication they gave me to prevent it! They were really responsive though, talked through all my symptoms and booked appointments for tests to see what's going on. Like the others said, nausea is the main symptom to look out for, but that can also be caused by other things like constipation, drugs and anaesthesia. As a rule, if there's no serious abdominal extension, it's probably not OHSS, but it's always worth checking.

That said, just because it isn't OHSS doesn't mean you aren't unwell after EC! There are so many variables. Have you spoken to your clinic about how you are post EC, and did they have any suggestions?

Suggestion from my nurse was to take a laxative, and keep up with the fluids. I'm actually feeling a little better this afternoon, but I'm still going in for the scan tomorrow for peace of mind.

Avocadosmoothie · 20/06/2017 20:17

Vox, did you have any nausea before EC? I'm of Day 8 of injections and have felt sick for the past 8 hours or so. I am on Metformin so could be just that and the heat!

OP posts:
thevox · 20/06/2017 20:22

I didn't have any nausea before avocado but I did have bloating and pains up my flanks, like it was in my kidneys. I think nausea must be really common though - I normally get it around ovulation anyway, so probably all the extra oestrogen?

thevox · 20/06/2017 20:37

When did you start the Metformin? I have a friend who takes it for diabetes and it makes her quite sick. The things we go through to avoid the dreaded OHSS!

katherine7172 · 20/06/2017 20:56

thevox Thank you for that, sat here panicking I'm such a worry wart. I wanted to ring the clinic earlier but, didn't because I thought I might be overreacting. I definitely have no nausea which must be a good sign, I just feel very bloated and uncomfortable (from the bloating). Now I just need to figure if how much I'm bloated is normal or not, if that makes sense. The clinic have booked me in for tests to monitor me both Thursday and Saturday. I might ring them tomorrow if I wake up feeling like this again, just to be safe.

Hope everyone else is doing okay Smile

lostworkerbee · 21/06/2017 10:05

Morning everyone

Katherine - how are you doing today? I was very bloated and uncomfortable yesterday - more so than Monday. And had terrible pain like trapped wind/griping pain. I also think I look about 5 months pregnant. It is a bit better this morning, but I think it builds up over the day and I'm not sure the hot weather helps. Have you got any other symptoms? From what I've read this is to be expected for a week of so after ec... Confused

Good luck for your transfer today Veinarde.

Hope you are feeling better today thevox? Sounds like some really nasty side effects Sad Hope your scan and appointment go well today and you feel much better soon.

Hi Scott, I've not heard of Eeva I'm afraid. What does it involve?

Avocado - hope the nausea has passed. Have you got another scan today or tomorrow? When will they decide when ec is?

Hope everybody else is well and has a good day xx

Avocadosmoothie · 21/06/2017 11:11

Lost, have you been in work this week?

I just found out I'm having EC on Friday morning (yay!!!). I'm due to start at secondment with work on Monday at another office which I'm nervous about - how many days did everyone take off work after EC?

My scan showed 14 follicles ready for collection with the biggest at 20mm. I have another 20 or so close behind and today and tomorrow still to go. My clinic has a policy whereby if they collect over 25 eggs, they are automatically frozen. I was really hoping for a fresh transfer so I could do it this month but I think it's unlikely

OP posts:
lostworkerbee · 21/06/2017 14:03

Hi Avocado. I took this week off work as couldn't be doing with explaining all the different appointments and any changes. I think I'd have been ok going in as it has definitely been most uncomfortable/painful towards the end of the day, so I'm sure you'll be ok for Monday. I'm glad I've missed the commute into London in this weather though!

Will keep my fingers crossed for you for Friday and that you can do a fresh transfer. Does that mean trigger tonight?

xx

Lauralife · 21/06/2017 14:44

Avocado - ec day and the day after I rested but back to normal routine on the third day. Fingers crossed Monday will be okay for you.

Since ec I've been trying to look up things you can do to help implantation, is anyone making any changes in general or to their diet post ec/et? (I came across eating pineapple core but I don't know if that is just an old wives tale.)

Also, will anyone be taking alot of time off after their transfer? One website I found recommends taking the whole 2ww off or at least a week if possible. Will anyone be taking this amount of time to rest?

Just read through everyone's ec recovery posts. I really hope you are all out of the worst of it now and are/starting to feel better soon. My clinic mentioned OHSS at the start of the cycle - I didn't realise how nasty the symptoms can be.

Hope your all feeling abit better today veinarde, katherine, vox, bee Flowers.

X

katherine7172 · 21/06/2017 16:18

Hi everyone :)

lostworkerbee - I agree with you, feel that it gets worse throughout the day. How are you feeling today?

Avocadosmoothie - Hope everything goes well for your EC on Friday! Think my eggs are going to be frozen too, which can be quite disappointing! Hopefully we can both have our transfers next month! I've also been off this whole week over EC, same as lostworkerbee, I just thought it would be easier.

Lauralife - I also read this about pineapple core! I've read loads of things, no idea if half of them are true. Someone told me 'warm feet, warm uterus', I've also heard it's better to eat warm food than cold. Again no idea if any of these actually work.

I have spoken to my clinic twice today, got myself in a right mess and had a good cry. The bloating doesn't seem quite as bad as yesterday but, it definitely gets worse throughout the day. I've been in a lot of pain today, I've found one sitting position that I'm comfy in, any other position or walking is very painful for me. The nurses have said the symptoms I have aren't OHSS and rather just post operative symptoms, especially from having 48 eggs taken. I felt so silly when they said this, felt like I was annoying them and wasting there time. Think I'm just really feeling sorry for myself today, I need to get it together!

Hope everyone is feeling better than I am, haha! x

Veinarde · 21/06/2017 22:11

Hi everyone!

katherine so sorry to hear you are in pain! Hope you will feel better tomorrow after a good night sleep :) congrats on 12 eggs fertilised! We are also using Embryoscope, Dr selected one for me today for the transfer!
I have not heard about fluid monitoring either, dont feel bad about asking the clinic, I would also want to know what is happening in my body!

lostworkerbee are you going to the clinic tomorrow for the transfer? Fingers crossed your embies are developing well xx
Hope post - EC bloating and discomfort eases soon!

avocado it is a good number of follicles! Good luck with EC! I think everyone would agree it's not as bad as it seems :)

lauralife great to hear you are feeling well after your EC! Fingers crossed for nice embryos ready to be transferred xx
Reading about implantation aid and freaking out! I did a 2 hour hike today in a forest Shock and have not rested at all! I am a little worried that I am it feeling anything at all. As if nothing happened! Can't shake the thought that i
IVF is not going to work for me.

thevox hope your scan went well today and your symptoms are subsiding! Get well soon! Xxx

mynameisscott what does Eeva involve? Is it checking for chromosomal abnormalities? Hope you embryos are developing well. When are you having the transfer?

As for me, I've had my transfer and they managed to freeze two blastocysts. I was hoping for few more! I emailed them asking about their quality. I am feeling like nothing happened which is worrying me a little, I don't feel very optimistic to be honest. Don't want to build up to much hope. We are still on holiday and just enjoying yourselves visiting Fjords , so beautiful!

Lauralife · 22/06/2017 09:10

So the clinic just called to update. The 5 embryos are growing on target so I'm now booked in for Saturday to do the transfer.

Hope everyone hears back from their clinic soon Smile the wait for these calls is so nerve wracking!
X

lostworkerbee · 22/06/2017 09:28

Oh well done Laura! Agree waiting for phone calls is horrible, I wish mine would hurry up!! I've also heard that about pineapple core, but I don't fancy it much. I've been having some acupuncture and she recommended warm drinks (no ice-cold, room temp is best) and keeping up the protein.

Glad transfer went well Veinarde and that you have a couple of frosties. I think I'm the same, not wanting to be too hopeful but it is difficult.

How are you feeling today Katherine? I feel much better this morning. Still a bit bloated but nothing like before.

Hope everybody else is well xx
