Hello, is anyone due to start IVF In June? My consultant has put me forward to start IVF, my next appointment is April 26th and if I start on long protocol I would start stimms late May and egg retrieval would be mid June. Would love to hear from someone on the same path!

Hi, how is everyone today?

I just had my first monitoring scan at injection day 6. I have 10 follicles between 10mm and 12mm and another 19 under 10mm. I spoke to the nurse after and she said to continue with same injection doses. Did anyone else have a day 6 scan? How do my numbers compare?

Enjoy the sunshine ☀️!

Hi avocado! My scan was cycle day 7, so stims day 6. I had a similar number over 10mm, with the biggest couple around 14mm. Then I had about 7 under 10mm, think smallest was about 6.5mm but quite a few about 8/9mm. I got an egg from almost all my follicles, even though I thought the smallest would be no good. So I think your numbers are very good! The 10 biggest are your strongest, but I reckon you'll still get a lot of eggs! I'm going to guess 23! 😁 x

Avocadosmoothie · 18/06/2017 12:19

Thanks for the info Scottish! 23 would be great because I think I have egg maturation issues so if I could get 23 it wouldn't matter if fertilisation rate was low. My cliiic has a policy that if 25 or more eggs are collected, patient automatically had a freeze all cycle. I would love to be able to have fresh transfer this month though! X

thevox wow well done on 27 eggs! Congrats! Fingers crossed you won't get OHSS, looks like your doctor did everything he can to prevent it!
avocado it is a very good scan result! I had very similar size follicles at that stage.
I agree with Scottish, even smaller follicles will have eggs, as it was in my case!

Enjoy lovely weather in the UK! It's really nice here in Oslo as well xx

thevox · 18/06/2017 17:54

Afternoon all. Great numbers Avocado, sounds really promising!

The hospital rang this morning to let us know that of our 27 eggs, 23 were usable, and 11 of them fertilised. We're booked in for transfer on Thursday morning.

That said, I am suffering! I'm hoping the litres of water and the drugs will reduce the OHSS, but I am so bloated I look 4 months pregnant, and I'm in a fair bit of pain. I am getting strong pains on my right side just under my ribs, and everything cramps up when I need to pee (which is about every 15 minutes)

Did anyone else experience these sorts of pains after EC? I'm not sure if I am dealing with just being a bit sore after collection, gas, or OHSS!

Avocadosmoothie · 18/06/2017 18:53

Vox, ouch! Can the hospital give you anything to help? Were you on Metformin at all? Great news on eggs fertilised at least! Hope the pain eases up soon!

Vox hope you're doing OK. I was in a lot of pain and had to rise from a chair like an old lady and couldn't walk without hunching over. Don't remember more frequent peeing or pain when peeing though. Bloating was bad and I couldn't eat normal size portions. It magically disappeared on day 3. I asked on the board if I had ohss and a few ladies said unlikely as I didn't have nausea or tiredness, do you have any of these? Hope you're better soon. That's 3 of us that had 11 fertilise! Was that icsi or just normal ivf?
Good luck for everyone having egg collection tomorrow!!
Afm, AF has arrived 12dp5dt, two days before my OTD. Quite relieved to have closure and can now plan the fet.

Veinarde · 18/06/2017 20:23

Hi thevox I found this article, as Scottish mentioned for mild OHSS to be present you likely to experience nausea, hope you won't have it! Looks like your Dr did what he can to prevent it! Hope you feel better xx

Avocadosmoothie · 19/06/2017 07:15

Scottish, so sorry but like you say, at least you have closure now and can move on to the FET! Do you know if you would want a medicated or natural FET?

Good luck to those doing EC today!

Good luck to everyone having EC done today!

Veinarde · 19/06/2017 10:58

I had a scan today and was told the swelling of the ovaries are going down, So risk of OHSS is low now! Yay! We have about 7 embryos that are 8 cell now and developing well. The rest are smaller. Hopefully they make to blastocyst stage!

Avocadosmoothie · 19/06/2017 11:06

Veinarde, that's fantastic news about OHSS and embryos! Do you feel back to normal now or any pain/discomfort?

lostworkerbee · 19/06/2017 14:18

Hello everyone

Had ec this morning. We got 7. Feeling a bit disappointed but trying to remember that it only takes 1. Also very sore!

Hope everybody else going for ec today is doing well.

Great news Veinarde

Hope you're feeling ok thevox and symptoms have settled down a bit.

Sorry Scottish. But everything crossed for your fet. Have your clinic said how soon you can do it?

Hello everybody else - hope the heat isn't too much, it is sweltering in London! xx

Xx

Veinarde · 19/06/2017 17:01

Hi lostworkerbee, congrats on 7 eggs! Hope they all are good quality! That's all that matters! X

katherine7172 · 19/06/2017 17:51

Hi all, sorry if I miss things just thought I'd give a quick update about my EC today.

Good to hear the swelling has gone down veinarde!

Thevox how are you feeling today? Hope the pain is dimming down!

Scottishgirl85 so sorry! when do you think you'll have your FET then, have your clinic given youany timings?

Lostworkerbee were you awake through your EC, how are you feeling now? Hope you're okay :)

I was really nervous, as I've never had any type of anesthetic or sedation before. Well there was no need to be, I was completely out for all of it.

When I was told how many eggs they got I was a bit in shock but, can appreciate why I'm at such high risk for OHSS. They got 48 eggs... Took me a little bit longer to recover due to the amount, nearly fainted in the toilet afterwards which was quite scary. Thank god for 3 lovely nurses and my hubby for dragging me back to my bed.

Due to the amount of eggs we've been told that it's likely that they'll have to do an FET after a couple of periods, we won't know for sure until later this week. They're going to monitor me through out this week and I have to track my fluid in and out. I am feeling a bit rough now, hoping it goes away after a good nights sleep.

Hope everyone else's EC went okay, sending love to all! X

Scottishgirl85 · 19/06/2017 18:15

Veinarde sounds like you've got good strong embryos there, when is your transfer?
Lost, it really is all about quality, fingers crossed that a good few fertilise.
Katherine wow, 48?!?! That's an incredible number. Got everything crossed for yourself that you'll avoid ohss. And try not to be disappointed if they make you wait for a FET. You'll have a much better chance if your body is in tip top shape. Looking forward to hearing the number that fertilise!
Afm, I can do a FET in the July, seems too soon! I'll wait and see how normal this period is, and the gap between the next one, before making the decision.
I'm willing those eggs and embryos to grow grow grow!!

Macarena1980 · 19/06/2017 18:29

Hi all,

Just got the call from the clinic to say my bloods were positive! Woohoo! So happy.
Got scan in 1 month, so that's the next mile stone to make it too! Wondering if you ever stop worrying in this process!

Lost Bee, 7 is still a good number and like you say it only takes 1. Hope your are resting up and the pain eased off for me after the first day, then just felt a bit uncomfortable for the next few days.

Katherine, that's great news! Hope your not too sore!

Veinarde, great news, sound like your well on your way!

Vox great news about the embryos! I hope your feeling a bit better!

Avocado not long now till EC, hope you're feeling well!

Scottish I'm so sorry! Xx how long till you can have your FET?

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Hope you are all good!

Xx

lostworkerbee · 19/06/2017 18:30

Wow Katherine, 48!! That's incredible. And so sorry you've been feeling rubbish after the procedure. I hope you feel better soon and manage to avoid OHSS. I feel ok - not too drowsy. It wasn't a full blown GA but I don't remember any of it, which is fine by me! Got quite a bit of lower abdominal pain now but hoping that will ease soon.

Scottish - so pleased you can get going quite quickly with the FET, that's great news.

Thanks also Veinarde. Trying to stay positive. The consultant said he rarely saw stats like my DH's (DH very pleased with himself), so hoping that all goes in our favour.

So good being able to share this stuff on here xx

lostworkerbee · 19/06/2017 18:39

Macarena - just seen your update, great news!! Congratulations x

katherine7172 · 19/06/2017 18:44

Scottishgirl85 Thank you, praying I avoid it guess that's all I can do for now. We'll get the phone call tomorrow about how many have fertilized, keeping my fingers crossed that there's some gooduns in there. That's fairly quick though, I'm sure you'll know what to do, you're body should tell you when it's ready.
Macarena1980 Congratulations, do you feel better now it's been confirmed by the clinic? Very happy for you! Feeling a bit sore but not too bad, extremely bloated though :(
Lostworkerbee Thank you, really hoping I avoid it! Mine wasn't a GA either but, the sedation knocked me out which was nice. Me too on the tummy pain, hoping it eaaes up for us both soon! :)

Macarena1980 · 19/06/2017 19:08

Sorry Scottish just read your FET WILL BE July! Great news xx

Scottishgirl85 · 19/06/2017 19:15
