Consultant wants to see me tomorrow. This isn't good is it?

Supposed to be starting stimming today providing I got all clear from clinic regarding blood test they took yesterday.

Nurse has just rang me to say that instead my consultant wants to see me regarding the results of my blood test. I have to go to Guys tomorrow afternoon.

This isn't good is it? Nurse wouldn't tell me what is wrong apart from saying it might be something to do with hormones? I have low amh and I'm now terrified they are going to tell me they won't treat me.

So sick of this shit. I've been waiting months to start this treatment due to irregular cycles etc. I finally thought I was getting somewhere. I'm in absolute bits nowSad

Going to ring Guy's back today and get the numbers. I can't move forward to any other treatment without them.

Definitely worth retesting, can you go back to your gp?

I know someone who was told sperm count was
zero twice but then his wife got pregnant three times. No explanation as to the duff tests results.

And in your situation I would have a bit of a rant at the clinic too, you have been treated horribly.

I'm so sad to read your news mummyFlowers Life is so unfair

Chattycat78 · 20/03/2017 12:27

I think the problem is that fsh can bounce around a lot. One month it can be say 4 and the next month 15. However, I did read that you have to take the highest reading as the true one if that makes sense-i.e- if it's lower one month if doesn't suggest that the situation is improving - just that the hormone is bouncing around from month to month.

However, this doesn't suggest that you can't get pregnant as far as cAn see- just that you might not respond very well to ivf drugs.

Chattycat78 · 20/03/2017 12:28

The clinic perhaps don't want to ruin their statistics by treating poor responders. Angry

DrippyWet · 20/03/2017 12:50

Sorry it was bad news. Hope things work out for you. Flowers

Isthismummy · 20/03/2017 16:37

Thank you for your well wishes everyone. It is really kind and much appreciated.

I've double checked my previous FSH results and they were actually 9.5 and 6.4 in Sep and Nov last year. So I can only assume it must have shot up since then. Probably a silly question, but would your ovaries being suppressed by the pill (like they were until nine days ago) make FSH go up trying to kick start them? Clutching at straws perhaps, but just pondering.

Going to get a second opinion on things and then take it from there. I actually feel really glad now that I'm a glass half empty person. I'd already imagined what I would do in worst case scenario and DP and I had already discussed ED.

Imagine if I'd listened to everyone's wonderful advice to think positive and not dwell on the potential pitfalls? Think I'd be under the nearest tube train by now!

Been suppressed even...

Just rang them. My FSH was 45 and my LH was 23. How the hell can that have happened in the space of six months? Jesus!

OP, I don't want to give you false hope but I had a similar situation and was told (when I was 38) that the menopause had started and no treatment would work .My hormone levels were like yours. All planned procedures were cancelled.
I was devastated, but resolved to try not to allow this to define my life.

A year later I was pregnant, all our own work . The infertility expert did not believe me, insisted on scanning me himself . I went along to the hospital apologising to dh for obviously misreading positive pregnancy tests etc . My daughter arrived 7'months later, and is now all grown up. I am convinced that once I stopped obsessing about everything, my body sorted itself out.
I do so feel for you and do hope you get a second more positive opinion .

Isthismummy · 20/03/2017 17:13

gonegrey56 Unfortunately my DP has reduced motility, so therefore we are screwed in the nc stakes.

Although having said that...Guys only bothered to ever do one SA and I really think it should have been repeated.

So glad you got your DD after all that heartache.

Can I ask if you had any menopausal symptoms when they diagnosed you? Apart from my irregular cycles I feel absolutely fine. In fact I feel fitter than I did in my twenties! I sleep badly, but funnily enough that started when we got told we had fertility issues. Infertility and insomnia go hand in hand apparently.

Chattycat78 · 20/03/2017 17:15

Can you try naturally OP? It may be that trying naturally Is actually a better shot for you.

I don't think the pill influences these things- I could be wrong. Yes your hormones are high, but as the previous poster has shown, it doesn't mean it's all over.

Chattycat78 · 20/03/2017 17:15

Sorry cross post- you've just answered my question.

Isthismummy · 20/03/2017 17:22

No worries Chattycat78

We have sex, so I guess that counts as trying naturally. I've given up on temping, cervix charting etc though as it's pointless in my case.

I've strongly considered ritually burning my copy of Taking Charge Of Your Fertility.

Frazzled Guys made it clear they won't treat us any more. So unfortunately going back to GP wouldn't change anything :(

I have a follow up consultation next month to discuss my apparent menopause and HRT. Although why I can't just go to my GP for that I have no idea. I'm going to make my feelings very plain then. The consultant yesterday is quite lucky I didn't punch her frankly. Her "doing empathy" face was something to behold.

Heartburn247 · 20/03/2017 17:38

I can't comment on the FSH test but with regards to motility issues they don't always know as much as they think.
My husband has motility and morphology issues, 99% not moving or dead and blocking the live 1% due to clumping at heads/tails.....he has fathered 3 children naturally.

I'm so sorry for you but please don't give up hope, although I know that is such a generic response.

gonegrey56 · 20/03/2017 17:42

OP
To answer your question, I had no symptoms that indicated I was beginning the menopause. Very occasional erratic cycle but mostly just fine. I felt fit and healthy, no night sweats or anything .

Do so hope things turn out ok for you .

Frazzled2207 · 20/03/2017 17:46

I meant going back to gp for another fsh test. You can't give up on the basis of one poor result.

Chattycat78 · 20/03/2017 18:16

Tbh I wouldn't bother with another fsh test. The numbers can bounce around each month as you approach menopause (and by "approach menopause" I mean in the years before it- not like it's going to happen to you next week) so I don't think it would tell you anything.

You could maybe consider natural ivf- I think that's good for high fsh/poor responders

Isthismummy · 20/03/2017 18:27

I don't think I will bother with another test. If we're going private anyway then it's more a case of finding a clinic who will treat us as things stand.

I've thought about natural ivf Chattycat78 We'll get our second opinion first and then decide how to proceed.

I refuse to give up.

MrsDarcy4092 · 20/03/2017 19:31

From all the (hideous) open evenings we've been to natural/low dose I think is made for you. Find a clinic like "create" who want to treat people in your position. As someone else mentioned guys may simply be thinking of their statistics sadly.

So sorry for what your going through I hope you are getting loads of love from those around you.

eurochick · 20/03/2017 19:40

I agree. If you are still ovulating, look at natural or low dose ivf. Good luck. X

Isthismummy · 20/03/2017 22:44

We'll look into natural ivf, but it would have to be abroad. Create etc have prices we just can't afford. Well actually we can't really afford to go abroad either, but I'll sell a kidney if needs be.

OP posts:
Isthismummy · 20/03/2017 22:45

I do ovulate, but not every month. Don't know how tricky that would make things?

OP posts:
Londonjam · 22/03/2017 20:32

Mummy I saw this post before and didn't have time to respond. How are you feeling? Hope you're doing a little better.
