We have relocated from the conception board where we were previously chatting under the thread 'ttc for 10 months or more'. A lot of us are now long term ttc-ers and are going through infertility treatment or looking to take steps in this direction so we feel this might be a more suitable home for us!

Feel free to stop by and say hi and hopefully we can share the journey together and make it a little easier along the way!

The cost of the extras is mad abroad. I think it was reprofit I looked at where icsi is 400 euros for all eggs or 50 euros per egg. It's like...£800+ here, usually around £1200. Absolutely mental!

lucieloos · 05/02/2017 22:31

Yes icsi is included in the price of most of the treatments at reprofit apart from mini where you're right it's about £40 an egg which is great. We also had things like picsi and macs which help choose the best sperm and they were a fraction of the price. My operative hysteroscopy was about £250 whereas in the uk would have been £2k!!

maplebaby · 06/02/2017 08:18

Blue, tea and star good luck with scans today!

Lucie wow are you 25 weeks already? Hope all is well with you!

Ptera I can't be sure it's the pill by it makes sense in that before pill and during pill it was never like this!! What is prolactin?

star1980 · 06/02/2017 17:11

Bad news here I'm afraid. Had my scan and had 30 follicles between 9mm and 22mm. Planning egg collection for later this week. But then blood results came back this afternoon and my oestrogen level is over 16,000 up from 5,000 on Friday so they've cancelled my cycle. So gutted. They say I'm at high risk of severe ohss when I trigger so won't even do a freeze-all cycle, no egg collection. So upset. I think this is my nhs go done as well Sad

ScottishThistle123 · 06/02/2017 17:38

Star Im sorry to hear that its horrible Flowers .Does it even count as a go ?? Shock . That seems a bit harsh.

maplebaby · 06/02/2017 19:24

Oh star that is crap, I'm so sorry. Did they say that was your NHS cycle? That would be epically shit if it was and extremely unfair. That aside, and I'm seriously hoping it isn't your NHS go, it's better not to get OHSS and although it is really disappointing and upsetting it's been cancelled, they have to put your health first. It doesn't sound like a nice thing to go through at all and hopefully if they do another cycle they know to reduce stims.

It doesn't change how you feel though - hugs Flowers

lucieloos · 06/02/2017 20:05

Star, so sorry to hear your news I know how utterly devastating it is to have a cycle cancelled when you're all geared up to go. It's not normally counted as one of your tries on the NHS though unless you've had egg collection so fingers crossed you should be ok. Ohss can be life threatening and is really really horrible so it is the right thing to do as disappointing as it might be. Big hugs, keep going. It's like an endurance test but you will get there Flowers

TeaAnd0ranges · 06/02/2017 20:37

So sorry star that is utter rubbish. What a massive disappointment- big hugs to you. So so shit and I really hope it's not your nhs go. Are you feeling up to asking the question? It is better to be well though and ohss is apparently terrible and can be really dangerous. Hopefully you can get going on your new cycle soon though x

bluebird3 · 06/02/2017 21:19

star that's so disappointing! I'm so sorry. My friend had about 3 cancelled cycles on the NHS and they dint count towards her free cycle as they didn't make it to egg collection. Hope it's the same for you. You'll get there and as others said ohss can be so dangerous. Now they'll know to give less stims next time. Still utter shit though! Take care of yourself.

I've got the go ahead to start injecting tomorrow. Bit scared as dh is on a night shift so won't be around in the morning for moral support. Or actual support doing it if I freak out as he's an anesthetist and stabs people for a living.

OP posts:
TeaAnd0ranges · 06/02/2017 21:41

blue you will be fine with the stabbing. The needle is teeny and goes in so easily. I had a freak out and then pulled myself together and wondered what the fuss was about once it was done. After the first one is done, it's easy. Good luck and try not to worry - we will all be supporting you here :)

bluebird3 · 06/02/2017 23:02

Thanks tea.

Can I ask everyone...do you change your diet during treatment? I went without caffeine today and felt shocking. Am also going to give up booze. Anything else I should cut out?

OP posts:
star1980 · 06/02/2017 23:16

Thanks so much ladies, you're all so lovely. I'm coming to terms with it and from what I've read, oestrogen levels that high mean it's almost certain I'd have got very ill. It just feels devastating after gearing up for this for so long and all the injections that it's over just like that. I've also been reading up on nhs funding and it looks like the key thing is egg collection as you said Lucie and blue, so given that didn't happen fingers crossed this doesn't count as a go. I'm going in on Wednesday so we'all know what's what then. The real bugger is I need to keep going with buserelin for another ten days so I don't ovulate these 30 eggs! I'm desperate to go again and we can't afford to pay privately right now so I really hope I'm right about the funding. Also, looking at the positives - maybe maple and geeup I'll end up cycling with you guys!

Excellent news Blue! You'll be absolutely fine with the injections - the needle is tiny. You do need to psyche yourself up to do the first one, but after that as Tiny says, it's a doddle. I didn't change my diet during treatment. I'd given up caffeine a while ago but I'm still drinking occasionally and eating rubbish - didn't drink during stims though and upped my water intake as I've mentioned.

How was your scan Tea? Hope all is progressing well. I'm rooting for you and Blue now!

geeup · 07/02/2017 07:45

Gutted for you star but love your silver lining that we might cycle together. Would be a great support after our journey on the low morphology thread. Hope your meeting tomorrow gives you a quick plan of action to get going again as I can't believe how frustrated you must be.

maplebaby · 07/02/2017 12:26

Glad you're feeling a bit "better" about it star. I think it's the right thing to do. Annoying you have to keep injecting though! Hope they can tell you more tomorrow. I hope I do get to cycle in march!

Good luck injecting today blue! Everyone else is right, the first is the worst and then after you'll be a pro. I got scared with the mixing needle which is massive! Until I realised it's not the one you inject with! I don't plan to massively change my diet... I don't have that much caffeine anyway or that much booze. Will try and eat more protein and lots of water though!

Whereland · 07/02/2017 13:43

Hi all,
I've lurked a lot and posted a little on various threads on the infertility boards.. but I never really had anything to contribute as I was just trying (and trying..) with nothing happening.
But finally got the go ahead to start IUI this month! Very excited. Had baseline scan today which confirmed no cysts so expect to start injecting next week. Nervous about that part.
Hoping there's good news on this thread soon

geeup · 07/02/2017 16:11

Welcome whereland. Exciting that you're getting going. Feels really positive to have a plan I bet! Hope the injecting goes ok. I haven't tried it myself yet but think the first is the worst!

bluebird3 · 07/02/2017 19:52

Welcome whereland! I did my first injection today and it wasn't too bad. The worst was the anticipation and the injection itself didn't hurt at all. I did have a big cry after due to feeling overwhelmed by the whole thing. But that soon passed and I feel positive and confident about the rest of the process now. Everyone on here is so helpful it's been a great support.

star did you get any answers at your appointment today?

tea how are you getting on?

And thanks to all for your support. It's been greatly received. Couldn't do this without all of you.

OP posts:
justtheonethen · 07/02/2017 20:02

star sorry to hear that Flowers

bluebird go you! Totally expected that you're feeling overwhelmed. I am and I haven't even started!

GinWineBrew as appropriate to everyone.

TeaAnd0ranges · 07/02/2017 20:33

Hello. Glad you're feeling better about everything now star fingers crossed you get some good news tomorrow!

My scan went ok. I'm the opposite to star in that I only had 8 large follicles and 4 small which were unlikely to have eggs. Hoping a couple more grow and I get 8-10 eggs collected on Thursday. I have my pregnyl injection to take tonight which will trigger ovulation.

I did change my diet slightly at the start of treatment in that I was being extra good with veggies and green juices but that has definitely slipped now! Still off the caffeine and alcohol though.

Glad the first injection went well blue first one deffo the most difficult so well done!

Welcome whereland :)

TeaAnd0ranges · 07/02/2017 20:36

Oh and blue the caffeine crash won't last long. Just stick it out a few days and the headaches etc should stop. Good luck!

Whereland · 07/02/2017 22:38

Thanks for the welcome, it's nice to have a place where people understand and you don't get the infuriating "helpful suggestions". I haven't firgured out how to individually reply but I've been following all your stories for weeks/months now Blush
I had to hide my medication in the fridge at work today and kept checking every half hour that it hadn't been thrown out!! Are you all totally staying off booze while having treatment?

pteradactyl · 08/02/2017 08:20

star I was sorry to read your bad news. How disappointing but I agree with the others it won't use up your free go.
blue i'm glad you found the injections not too bad. Getting into the swing of it?
tea that doesn't necessarily mean anything bad, you could have the perfect eggy in one of those anyway!
Hi where! That's exciting that you have some treatment coming up. I also have nothing going on but I can't seem to tear myself away from these threads lol. I try to lurk but turns out I am actually incapable Grin in other completely unrelated news though we are looking at buying a house which is very exciting. Might take my mind off all this for a while which would be very welcome

JustTrixie · 08/02/2017 12:28

So sorry to read your news Star, gutted for you Sad. Like the others say, it shouldn't count as your funded go. I know its different but my cancelled FET didn't count. I didn't have to wait long to go again, hopefully you don't either. Hope you are doing ok Flowers

maplebaby · 08/02/2017 19:22

What did they say today star? Hope they confirmed that wasn't your NHS go!

Ptera good luck with the house buying! We sold and upsized last year Smile

Hello where! Great you get to start with the IUI - I didn't completely avoid alchohol but I don't drink much anyway. I'm more of a binge drinker on a night out but they are few and far between!

Tea do you have to take any drugs today? Good luck with EC tomorrow!

I'm on day 8 of brown spotting - argh! Come ON AF - just want to get her out the way rather than just knicker watching all the time!

bluebird3 · 08/02/2017 19:55

Good luck for egg collection tomorrow tea! So exciting.

ptera it's funny...it's only day 2 but felt surprisingly normal injecting today. That's exciting you're house hunting. I am always scanning right move even though we have no intention of moving for 3-4 years. It's addictive!

I am going off the booze for the whole treatment cycle and most caffeine. I did have small coffee today, but I used to have 2-3/day. Already missing the caffeine less and feeling loads better for drinking lots of water.

When do you get started justtheone?

Hope you're ok star.
