We have relocated from the conception board where we were previously chatting under the thread 'ttc for 10 months or more'. A lot of us are now long term ttc-ers and are going through infertility treatment or looking to take steps in this direction so we feel this might be a more suitable home for us!

Feel free to stop by and say hi and hopefully we can share the journey together and make it a little easier along the way!

Oooooh congrats maple. When's your OTD? Isn't it odd how different clinics are - did they explain why they recommended two? My clinic just wouldn't!!!

maplebaby · 23/05/2017 19:44

She said because of the one that was B+?! Still not 100% sure why but it made sense at the time!

My clinic say 16 days after transfer so OTD would be 8th June... seems ages away compared to other people who I've spoken to!

star1980 · 23/05/2017 19:49

Eek! Congratulations on being pupo maple! Wow, 2. Incredible Smile

justtheonethen · 24/05/2017 00:46

Hey all. Ive not been on in forever but thought id poo back. Congrats to everyone who has had a bfp! Amazing news. We are still a million years off starting so I have nothing to add but wanted to say congrats and good luck to anyone in tww now x

maplebaby · 31/05/2017 18:41

Thanks for asking blue. I've been trying to avoid coming on at the moment - finding the tww really tough so been lurking. My OTD is 16 days past transfer so still have a week to go officially...

Been trying to ignore any symptoms but of course can't help obsessively googling. My head knows it's likely the progesterone but I keep hoping it's a real symptom. Currently I have bloating and my abdomen feels really tight and uncomfortable. I have a massive salt craving and I almost fainted yesterday. Boobs were quite sore up until 6dp5dt and now they are alright, just slightly tender nips.

I'm really scared of testing actually, I know I have to obviously but I'm so scared of it being negative. I'm often gripped with fear that I won't ever get pregnant as I've never had a BFP in the time I've been trying. I know it's probably irrational and I haven't even finished my first ivf cycle yet but feel so hopeless sometimes.

As OTD is a week day I'm considering testing on Saturday or Sunday which would be 11 or 12dp5dt. I think most tests would be definitive by then, is that right? Don't want to test too early...

Hope you are ok - only a few days for AF now so you can get going!

Star I hope you are ok too!

geeup · 31/05/2017 19:58

Maple I reckon that'd be plenty time to get an answer. And better to do at the weekend so you can celebrate/commiserate in private.
I am having the scratch and starting downregging Friday next week for cycle #2. Can't believe we have to go through it all again. Am looking into embryogen (a culture that's supposed to help implantation) but not sure my clinic will let me do it on my NHS round. Good luck everyone and keep on keeping on...

bluebird3 · 01/06/2017 08:38

maple I think that should be fine to test then. My clinic had me test 9dp5dt and 11dp5dt to confirm. The wait is awful. Good idea to try to keep your head down and focus on other things as much as possible. I just kept thinking that by about 5dp5dt it would have implanted or been all over so there's nothing you can do at that point. Not that you can really do much at any point!

gee are you ready to get going again? I'm wavering between being a bit excited and also nauseated.

I'm just praying af arrives in the next day so I can start by Saturday. I have to go to London for a training conference sun night-Tuesday and it's a 3 hour drive. If af hasn't arrived I'll have to go in to clinic mon morning and then drive down and miss a half day of the conference. I'm really excited to go to the conference and it's the only 2 days this year that work is sending me on a training. Such bad timing!

Hey all, hurrah baseline scan yesterday and I'm good to start stimming Monday Smile

Welcome harry Smile ask away if you have any questions. I wish I didn't know the answers but I expect I do.

SallySunbeams · 01/06/2017 10:20

Hi everyone, I haven't read the full thread, I know, but I am sneakily Mumsnetting from work...I was just hoping for a answer to something I was wondering. My DP and I have been TTC for a year, I'm 39 he's 41, no joy as yet.

I have a docs appt in a couple of weeks and was wondering what the likely next step is? I think there is a process before you get to then IVF stage but can't find much about that online.

DP has a child from a previous relationship and I have had some ovarian cysts in the past (caused by the implant, cleared up once it was removed as confirmed by a ultrasound) so I assume that age is the issue?

Any advice would be really appreciated. Smile

sally in my experience the GP will send you for bloods at the start of your cycle (fsh) and day 21 (progesterone). It should actually be done 7 days after you ovulate, just in case you don't have a 28 day cycle! Your partner will have a sperm analysis. Depending on those results you should get a referral to a fertility clinic, then you repeat the tests Hmm and you will have an ultrasound to check for cysts. You might then have an hsg to see if your tubes are clear or a laparoscopy if they suspect endometriosis.

It's a long process on the NHS. It's taken over a year from first hospital appointment to starting ivf.

harry I thought clomid was just for irregular ovulation but might be wrong. Have you had a day 21 progesterone test?

harry if you're ovulating and if dh's SA is fine then the might suggest a hsg to check you're tubes are clear. Then possibly IUI first. I'm not sure if you will qualify for NHS funding if you already have a child. IUI is cheaper than IVF so may be a better option. IVF is usually suggested for people with blocked/no tubes, MFI, or for those who've tried everything else with no success.

Forgot to mention harry that they might offer clomid. It's usually for those not ovulating but I have heard of it used to 'boost' ovulation. It really depends on the doctor.

Thanks justtheone

I don't know why but I'm surprised that it seems to be, try for a year, get checked out, if no major issues then straight to IVF. I assumed (based on nothing tbh) that there would be a scale of interventions that lead ultimately to IVF.

ScottishJaggyNettle · 03/06/2017 02:21

Welcome to all newcomers! Sad that you find yourselves here Flowers

Sally Ivf NHS and Private are very diffrent. I am 2.5 years in and still no IVF im on the list and waiting still. Im currently Unexplained and you are clearly talking about paying for private treatment. By no part of anyones imagination is it that easy to even get a referal for NHS IVF. A multitude of horrible tests, and at least a 2 year wait before you are even added to the NHS list, and thats if you acheive all of the requirements such as BMI ect. You can get IVF quickly if you can afford it. Private clinics also have diffrent rules on how long you have to try for( i think), BMI ect. (I dont know how to put a nice tone across without it most likely being read sarcasticly/badly but honestly this comment wasnt ment to sound nasty or anything like that). Also Welcome!

Maple my fingers are crossed for you. Hope you are well. Smile

maplebaby · 03/06/2017 06:40

Welcome to the newbies! I agree with just I think for IVF it was just over a year to actually start but I had 3 medicated IUIs before then as part of the hospital protocol (I'm unexplained).

Just hoorah for being able to start stimming on Monday!

AFM ladies, I tested this morning. I'm shaking but I got my very first BFP in 2.5 years!! I did a CB digital and it says 2-3 weeks. DH and I cried and I know I still have to wait until OTD (which is Thursday, 16dp5dt) but I keep telling myself that today I am pregnant! If you don't mind I'll still be lurking as it's still very early days...

geeup · 03/06/2017 07:39

That's amazing maple. Really happy for you. Good to hear ivf can actually work!!! Congratulations. Sounds like a great bfp.

star1980 · 03/06/2017 12:51

Omg CONGRATULATIONS Maple!!!! So happy for you. How amazing, first time lucky Smile All the very best for a uneventful and happy 9 months xx
