If so, please join the club. Let's keep each other going!

In our case, we're going abroad for ours - Norway. What about you?

Hi All,

Everhopeful76 - Yes I'm now injecting and have 2 scans scheduled for next week. I have the piercing headaches (I'm on a high dose which dosent help in that respect), but in my past cycles these have settled down 2-3 days after starting injecting so I should hopefully be feeling ok by the weekend...despite feeling like a pin cushion.

Notspartacus - I got my drugs from Stoke too. I have found them really easy to deal with and would defo recommend them. I did get a similar quote from Asda, but decided to go with Stoke as they did home delivery and there isn't a convenient Asda store close to me.

Waitingimpatient - I have been told that the reasons a day 5 embryos are 'better' is that they are all further developed at that stage so it is easier for the embryologist to choose the best 2 to put back (e.g. some may have started fragmenting at day 4 which they wouldn't have been able to see on day 3). So you still have a good chance with a day 2-3 transfer!

Westergille - I hope Friday goes well - we will be thinking of you. No need to apologise for being down. Im so fed up of putting on a brave face in front of family and friends - its shit (but no one wants to hear you say that as they don't know how to reply - which you can't really blame them for as I wouldn't have a clue either if I wasn't experiencing it myself!)

X

Goingcrazy53 · 25/02/2016 13:44

Notspartacus opps sorry - I meant Stork (biodoseservices)

westergille · 26/02/2016 17:41

Thanks for the encouraging words. EC went well - 6 eggs collected. Hope they're busy fertilising as I type Smile

waitingimpatient · 26/02/2016 18:47

Had ET transfer today-one embryo didn't survive the thaw so only had one day two 5 cell put back
We used embryo glue and I'm on an immune protocol so fingers crossed !

NotSpartacus · 26/02/2016 19:56

Well done Westergille, glad it went ok, and that you got a decent number of eggs.

waitingimpatient, hoping that it works for you. i read a study a while ago that reported higher pregnancy rates in women where there was a clown in the clinic, possibly because they relaxed (I assume they were not clown-phobic!) So put your feet up and put something funny on the telly.

Nowt happening with me. Have been shopping around for my drugs, but I think I'll probably end up with Healthcare at Home because the price they quoted seemed very reasonable and I know they are not dodgy. I think my doses are very low, though, so it's always possible I'll have to buy a load more to get things going!

i hope everyone else is ok.

Kwick709 · 26/02/2016 20:02

SOS - can anyone help me? See below:

I am really pissed off... With myself and Healthcare at Home. I was just checking my syringe and needle supply and realise they have only give me enough for one more day of injections.... I cannot even make it through the weekend....what am I supposed to do? Amazon prime will not get here until Monday... Can I just go to Boots and buy more?

I am so angry as I should have noticed this before but I assumed they give you the right amount for treatment plan! I guess I will need to SOS the clinic... And I got told finally that I did not need to go in to tomorrow!!

NotSpartacus · 26/02/2016 20:08

i think you may be able to buy syringes at the chemist. Maybe take some of the clinic paperwork with you so they can see you have a legitimate reason for wanting them. How's everything going otherwise?

Kwick709 · 26/02/2016 20:23

Thanks notspartacus will try tomorrow... There goes my lie in!

I had a day 9 scan today, 3 follicles, largest 9mm - which is smaller than same time in medicated iui cycle... And I am taking loads more drugs. I am trying to not get too upset, but failing.... Hopefully the will be a growth spurt before the next scan on monday.

How are you doing?

NotSpartacus · 27/02/2016 09:46

I'm fine -Still wobbling about the whole thing (which may continue to be the case, even when I am doing it!), but not enough to call it off. just waiting for CD14 so I can start the norethisterone. Hysteroscopy is booked for next month and wondering what I am going to tell work about all this time off. The clinic won't do the hystero without a general anaesthetic, so I have to be off work for the afternoon, and I have to get DH to pick me up (at a time when we are both very busy at work - not that it ever really lets up). And then more times off for egg collection and (hopefully) transfer. Am also a bit stressed because the doc thinks I am high risk for OHSS and I really don't need to get ill. On the other hand, it is a complete unknown how my body will respond to the drugs - maybe it will go on strike! I think I really need to start taking it one step at a time and stop panicking about the next two months! On the upside, I had my nurse appointment the other day and she was really nice and helpful.

Try not to stress about the follies. I know the doctors paint this as a numbers game, but there are women out there who had one follicle, one egg, one embryo and one baby, so there is hope. Have you managed to find syringes? If not, maybe a call into the clinic mobile number - they must have some syringes there that they can give you.

Oh - did the clinic do the dilapan thing on you? My doc talks about it as though it is a necessity. I told him my cervix is always open (two labours will do that to you!) and he looked confused. I'm just wondering if it is something they always do, so it is in the standard protocol and they won't deviate.

Kwick709 · 27/02/2016 18:42

No idea what a dilapan is....

I completely understand the feeling of being overwhelmed... I still get like that and then stop myself and just try to concentrate on the here and now... Except when I realise I have run out of needles and syringes!!

I got that sorted - I rang NHS 111, spoke to the out of hours Dr who did a bit of research and rang me back & told me of a local pharmacy I could go to. They did not have the yellow needles, so have larger (aka more painful) blue ones.... I also ordered from Amazon and will mention to CRGH at my scan on monday.

I had a hysteroscopy... Just a word of warning - I was in a lot of pain afterwards and the next day I did not work - I was completely wiped out. I took the day off. I am always crazy busy at work but THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT!

Scanner yesterday actually said the same as you - it only takes one egg - but it is frustrating that I am having about the same (if not worse) results as when I take no medication... Hmm

goinggrey1978 · 27/02/2016 18:46

hi everyone, hope your all doing ok, medication is putting me off my food just like last time!! it won't do me any harm to loose a few pounds again!! nice to have a break from popping to london, also been back to work this week and everything was very busy!!

MiaHayek · 28/02/2016 15:52

So today was my official test day - 11 days past a 5 day transfer. First round of IVF with ICSI. I started testing early - from 7 days past and it was negative. I think contracting the flu 2 days after transfer which left me with a high fever for 3 days may not have helped. We will never know! I was really upset on Friday but now, Sunday, I am feeling normal and hopeful again. Ready for the next round. Good luck everyone!

MiaHayek · 28/02/2016 15:53

So, BFN - not pregnant just to be clear. Does anyone know how soon I can start again? I have 2 frozen embryos... I am 37. Never been pregnant in my life.

Kwick709 · 28/02/2016 16:04

mia sorry about your bfn - but like the PMA! I am not sure when you can start again - great you have two frosties though.

NotSpartacus · 28/02/2016 21:43

Sorry about your BFN Mia. I wouldn't think you have to wait too long to do a FET. We were originally advised to plan a freeze all cycle, whre they were going to collect and fertilise, freeze anything that survived to day 5 and then pop one back in about two periods later. maybe it is similar where you've had a transfer.

Goingrey what meds are you on? A lost appetite would be a definite plus for me (5 pounds to lose to be a more healthy weight!)

Hope everyone's ok. My DD asked me this evening if it might be possible for me to have another baby, or if I am too old. I told her I am probably too old. Would be great to be able to tell her I am not in a few months!

NotSpartacus · 29/02/2016 16:45

Just stopping by to post this http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/21211796/

Partly because I love the term 'medical clowning' and partly because it amuses me to think that watching Zoolander after transfer may make all the difference.

goinggrey1978 · 29/02/2016 19:07

NotSpartacus, hi, i'm on progynova 6mg daily, sometimes i feel rather sick and can just about eat my lunch, dinner and tea break snack, last time all the medication i had turned me off all sweet foods!! it won't do me any harm either, due to other medical conditions i often have a dicky tummy as well, looking forward to the injection again on friday not!! as i had really bad cramps and could only take paracetamol for the pain!! will all be worth it in the end though hopefully!!

Everhopeful76 · 29/02/2016 20:47

Hi everyone - is anyone taken high ish dose menopur injections and finding it a struggle to assemble the injection? I think to myself am not a trained nurse, there has to be a margin for error but quite paranoid that am not getting every last drop in me and the dilution could be wrong. I guess it could be the same for anyone on a different FSH at a high dose.
I am going back to the menopur tutorial, but the woman makes it look like a walk in the park

Kwick709 · 29/02/2016 20:54

NotSpartacus thanks for sharing... I do not like clowns but I hope this just means laughing? In which case I will watch my favourite comedies after ET like Hitch, and um... oh dear will need to think of some more!

goinggrey I am going to be on Progynova too... I would not mind a loss of appetite Grin

I feel like I have been a bit of a back seat passenger in all this - I am taking so many different things but I am not too clear on what they are supposed to do... will do some research!

I had my day 12 scan - 5 follies - one at 14mm - I am feeling much more encouraged :)

NotSpartacus · 01/03/2016 08:24

Hurrah for 5 follies. How long have you been stimming for now, Kwick?

NotSpartacus · 01/03/2016 08:26

I can't help Everhopeful as I have wimped out and not yet started my cycle! There must be a margin for error, though, otherwise what if if you accidentally lost a few drops out of the syringe? Maybe ask on one of the bigger IVF threads? I hope the stimming is going ok generally.

Goingcrazy53 · 01/03/2016 10:47

MiaHayek - So sorry to hear your news. Flowers

Everhopeful76 - Im on a 450 dose of Menopur and yes I hate making it up. I'm now taking the second injection ( Cen something...my brain is mush) which I'm finding even harder to assemble - last night I seemed to loose loads when I was trying to get rid of the air bubbles so like you I'm desperately hoping there is some margin for error in the dose provided!

Waitingimpatient - fingers crossed for you x

Westergille - I hope that all is going OK, have you had the transfer?

Kwick709 - Good news on the follies!

I'm in for my first scan tomorrow...not sure what to expect. I'm not feeling very bloated at the moment so it wouldn't surprise me if I don't have many follicles developing yet Confused

Kwick709 · 01/03/2016 22:16

I am day 13 of my cycle - stimming since day 3 I think!

I also hope there is a margin of error on meds as I sometimes lose some liquid when trying to get air bubbles out Hmm

Also today I was 1.5 hours late with injections... In theory tomorrow is my last day injecting but it will depend on scan and bloods...

Everhopeful76 · 01/03/2016 22:43

Oh thank god kwick and goingcrazy... Notspartacus - I hope you re right, stimms are ok ish apart from this little issue.
I was beginning to think it was just me. I managed to get myself so wound up about it tonight,I had a very stubborn bubble at the bottom which I finally got rid of when I brought the fluid to top. I tend to put the needle in slowly as well as the injection, until I watched another clip where I viewed a stabbing type action. We re not nurses, are we ladies? Are you feeling bloated or uncomfortable in the abdomen area? I ve had a bit of ovarian pain which seems to occur roughly 3 hours after I ve done the injection I don't seem to be getting physical side effects but definitely more tearful now.
My scan is Friday

westergille · 01/03/2016 22:50

NotSpartacus, I like that article - though I am worried they did use an actual clown!

ET for me is tomorrow. Feeling stressed already about results day. I don't want to be at work for it but I'm worried about explaining yet another absence at a busy time to my colleagues. And, to be honest, I'm worried about the outcome either way - the horrible disappointment of a BFN or the worry about how a BFP will affect my life and work.
