If so, please join the club. Let's keep each other going!

In our case, we're going abroad for ours - Norway. What about you?

Hi all

Back at work today after a rather uncomfortable night. My tum was v swollen and I had shoulder pain which I understand to be the result of fluid irritating my diaphragm. One upright night and some anti-OHSS drugs later and I feel a lot better (if rather windyBlush). Still a bit disappointed about the number of eggs collected - I know it sounds silly in view of the fact that we got a decent number but I can't help feeling that pushing a patient to develop 37 follies, then only getting 16 eggs (of which only 11 were mature) is a bit shit. Sorry to moan, am just feeling a little down, although I gather 9 have fertilised (same as you, Goinggrey - yay for you!) so hopefully things will turn out ok.

everhopeful have you managed to step away from the tests?!

Kwick Womble cramps sounds utterly normal to me. Is your progesterone ok now? I started the Crinone and cyclogest (and something oral named after a central Asian state ( something -Stan)). Crinone is vile and presumably means I will never have sex again (not that I feel like it today!!) are you on clexane? If so, are the jabs ok? Something I read suggested icing the area, but that sounds like a faf.

Don't be sad about the singleton , Westergille. It is much lower risk to you and the baby that there is just the one. A friend of mine had two put back and one split so she is getting triplets! Holy cow, imagine that! Marvellous on the one hand but a little bit scary nonetheless! !

Embryologist is going to call me next on Saturday with an update, they want to do assisted hatching on day 3 (cos my eggs are old) and it sounded like they are hopeful of getting to a blastocyst transfer. Gosh I hope so!

Kwick709 · 31/03/2016 19:53

Goinggrey wowzers 9 eggs fertilized!!!! This is fab news :) How many are you having transferred?

Kwick709 · 31/03/2016 20:06

Notspartacus sorry to hear you are not feeling so well. Peppermint tea may help with the shoulder pain (I had similiar after an operation a while back).

9 eggs fertilised for you too!!! This is amazeballs!!! I must say though given your follicle numbers and then the eggs collected numbers I feel EVEN MORE fortunate that my 2 follicles gave 2 eggs which then produced 1 embryo.

I am currently on:
Clexane - daily - by far the worst injection... the needles are blunt (I actually dreamed last night about making a complaint about this!!!) I find that holding fat and then putting in at a slight angle whilst I swear a lot is the best way. Expect mega bruising - I got in a bit too late with the arnica :(
Crinone gel - twice a day - can see how this would interfere with chukka-chukka... I "apply" just before going to bed and then in the early hours
Cyclogest pessaries - three times a day - applied after crinone up the jacksie, and then at lunch time up fanjo... really DO NOT like this
Prontogest - daily intramuscular injections in bum or thigh; causes mega bruising too but the actual injection is fine - boy you should see the length of the needle!!!!

I have another blood test tomorrow to check progesterone levels - fingers crossed I will be able to do away with cyclogest!

Keep the updates coming and best of luck to you both with the embryos :) The magic is defo happening!

NotSpartacus · 31/03/2016 20:40

Oh christ. Do we think the clexane is actually necessary? Maybe I could swap it put for some extra aspirin... Blunt needles is just plain offensive if they insist on making those pre-loaded thingies so that I can't switch the needle for one of the sharp ones in my stash.

Kwick709 · 31/03/2016 20:52

I think we should start a petition!!!!
The undersigned kindly request that Clexane sharpen thie needles:
Kwick

NotSpartacus · 31/03/2016 20:58

Ow fucking ow ow.

Not only did I have to stab it in, but now it stings.

On the upside, at least that means I got some of it in. After I pulled it out, thinking I had done it all, it squirted on me! Do you keep it in you until the funny spring loaded thingy pops out? We will put tonight down as a practice run.

Now eating compensatory chocolate bunny.

Kwick709 · 31/03/2016 21:23

Oops sorry should have warned you about strange needle protector thing. I go all the way down with white thing and then cover pops out... Had a couple that were a bit faulty.

goinggrey1978 · 31/03/2016 22:25

3rd time lucky, tried to post earlier, silly clubhouse internet!! Consultant wants to only put one back at time and save some for siblings by frozen transplantation at another time, we'll see what happens on Sunday

SparrowSG · 01/04/2016 10:05

Good luck NotSpartacus and goinggrey with your transfers.

What is it with the blunt needles?! I had that with the 2nd batch of Gonal-F which did not come as a pen, bit cheeky considering how much you pay for the stuff! The needles were rubbish, ending up measuring up my dose with that needle, squirting into an empty water solution vial and then sucking up into one of my nice needles bought from the pharmacy. Even the needles that came in my progesterone box are crap too, so am just using the others.

Kwick sounds like you are creating a nice 'galaxy' of bruises from all the stabbings Smile
I'll be interested to see how long you have to continue on with all the medications. What is the Clexane for?

I've booked myself for my beta HCG test for next Wednesday and FRER tests arrived this morning... and so continues the waiting... I am even thinking of lots of house cleaning/organising jobs to fill in the time!

Kwick709 · 01/04/2016 18:32

No heavy lifting please sparrow!!!

Clexane is a blood thinner - supposed to help reduce risk of miscarriage I think.

I did another progesterone test today - okay level at 118 but less than last time so they have put me back to daily:
3 crinone
3 cyclogest
1 prontogest

I really do prefer injecting to crinone and cyclogest but what to do? Needs must and all that!

I saw 2 nurses today at CRGH that were so pleased for me... it is really nice that they care so much :)

NotSpartacus · 01/04/2016 19:59

I think they are a bit OTT about the progesterone. Pretty sure in a natural pregnancy 50 would be OK!!

Spent the day obsessing about my Petrie dish contents. Embryologist didn't call today and my next update is tomorrow. Please please let no news be good news. It is very difficult for me to maintain PMA (2 kids, 7 pregnancies, 10 years of ttc have given me a "defensively pessimistic" outlook!). I need something more interesting than work to distract me...

Kwick709 · 01/04/2016 20:27

Is that right notspartacus - that is really good to know... I can relax a bit! But still keep taking all the progesterone!!!

Sorry that you did not get any news today - but fx for tomorrow.

Everhopeful76 · 01/04/2016 21:27

Good evening folks:-)

I can't believe you guys are on so much luteal or early pregnancy support.I think if I d cycled with Create would definitely have had and battled Clexane, sounds awful
Im only on 800mg of cyclogest daily (altho administered as400mgx2) - such a messy mess, but my Consultant has agreed to let me continue, pandering to my anxiety I think.
Is all this additional support recommended as part of your clinics usual protocol or is it tailored for you because of previous problems?.
I am having bloating from cyclogest and last 2 days I ve been very nauseas and actually been sick tonight. Seems a bit early but hey ho

I did 1 more preggo test NotSpartacus, and have stepped away for now.
Hope you get lots of blasts tomorrow for your transfer. Good luck GoingGrey for yours
Sparrow - hope you can find ways of filling your time in the 2ww

NotSpartacus · 01/04/2016 21:45

Ever, I think progesterone jabs and clexane are standard at our clinic. Because I didn't want the giant horse needles I am having cyclogest twice a day, Crinone gel in my fanjo twice a day and 6 pills instead. It feels a little like overkill! I do not think it is really necessary but it isn't forever. Good news - tonight's clexane was easy and I barely felt it. Yay!

NotSpartacus · 02/04/2016 08:53

Oh happy day! All 9 are still going, one is a little slow and may not make it to a good quality blast but that leaves 8! The expectation is that there'll be something to put back on day 5 so am clearing my diary for a Monday afternoon transfer! Feeling ok too, no OHSS symptoms and my tummy is going down so hopefully good to go by Monday.

Kwick709 · 02/04/2016 10:05

This is fab news NotSpartacus!!!!

goinggrey1978 · 02/04/2016 12:38

hi everyone, i'm home again and have normal internet!!
i've been feeling quite rough and run down since wednesday, not sure if these are normal end of term germs or ivf side effects, i came down with a blocked nose, occasional cough, sore throat, some sneezing sore ears and very sore tongue? anyone suffering the same? or do i just have germs!!

Everhopeful76 · 02/04/2016 17:08

I think that ll b end of term germs mostly goinggrey. I had cold like symptoms for a few days following transfer which I found really odd, it didn't linger, would wake up full of catarrh muck and get rid of it and then I d b a bit sneezy for a while and then would disappear. Then would return the next few mornings In repeated fashion. Hope u feel better soon.

Notspartacus - excellent news!!

goinggrey1978 · 02/04/2016 17:22

Everhopeful76, ahh thanks, i'm excited and nervous for tomorrow, i'll let you all know how it goes!

NotSpartacus · 02/04/2016 21:05

Best of luck, Goinggrey - proper exciting. Now, don't forget to get some "medical clowning" afterwards Smile

goinggrey1978 · 03/04/2016 04:43

Notspartacus, what's 'medical clowning'?? And yes I woke up in the early hours mostly excited and a little nervous!

NotSpartacus · 03/04/2016 07:32

That report I linked to up the thread of a study in which patients visited by a " medical clown" after ET got better implantation rates! Made me wonder if a medical clown has particular qualifications. I will be asking my doc to put on an impromptu slapstick routine (and failing that will watch Zoolander when I get home!)

I hope today goes smoothly.

Kwick709 · 03/04/2016 12:09

I hate clowns - they give me the creeps but I did watch one of my favourite comedies (Hitch) after EC - and I laughed a lot :). That bit where Will Smith's character gets a seafood allergy has me in stitches every time!

Have you got the pineapple at the ready too? And remember: not too much milk, and keep feet and kidneys warm at all times!

goinggrey1978 · 03/04/2016 12:33

hi i'm back home and plotted up on the sofa with plenty of catch up tv after being away!!
i have pineapple and a mouth full of ulcers too!!
don't have any milk products as i'm dairy free!!
i didn't stop at the church on the way home to pray, i'm just crossing my fingers that my bubble as its been named by one of my best friends stays put!!
i'm very lucky as i have 6 frozen today and one put back in the incubator to see what it does, only 1 didn't make it out of my 9, which is brilliant, these are very strong embryo's!
hope you are all well??

Kwick709 · 03/04/2016 20:19

This is fantastic news goinggrey!!! Take is easy and lots of PMA for you! Sorry to hear about the mouth ulcers! Try swishing in salt water if you can bear it!

I am just catching up on The Bachelor (only high brow viewing for me!!!), whilst getting everything ready for my business trip this week... I HATE PACKING!!!!!
