Ha! I was just about to post the last message in the old thread linking to this, but I'm too late, we've already filled it up! I'll do the same as last time and send PMs to everyone who's been on the thread recently, but everyone's welcome Smile

Glittery now two days into the superfact injections - despite an initial bit of mix up with the needles, things are progressing well thanks and we have a routine going now.

lildottie I think your dh could be annoyed for all the reasons you've highlighted but more so due to frustration that your prior attempt didn't work. Form my own perspective, I was very angry when I found out we required ICSI - mostly because the infertility was linked to my own issues (low sc) and I initially (stupidly) felt that it was a reflection of my virility/manliness (matcho nonsense I know, but there you are). Also lots of general concerns about the outcomes of the treatment and, whilst I know we must stay positive, I will be very annoyed if I am not able to give my wife the one things that she wants more than ever!!

I think you've hit it spot on there finton. I've tried very hard from the moment we got his sa results to treat this as "our" infertility and not his. at the end of the day it really doesn't matter what's wrong with who,its happening to both of you and you're in it together. glad things are underway for you now. sounds like you are 10days ahead of me. I start my equivalent of your superfact (supercur but think yours is also buserelin) next Tuesday. I'm on the week countdown now! actually I need to dig out the paperwork from last time and remind myself what to inject when with what and how much! eek!

Spoke to clinic today and they reassured me that the progynova is not a high dose and all should be fine

I start them on wed and have a scan booked for Monday

shell I know what you mean about worrying about mc, but I think the big reassurance for you is having seen a heartbeat. I had a mc a few years ago at what was 9 and a half weeks but it was a mmc and apparently the foetus stopped developing much earlier as was very small. Once you see a normal heartbeat I think that's a huge indicator that all is going really well

So I caved and did a test early... and it was a bfp. Can't quite believe it.

I'm not quite able to get excited yet after the mmc last time, so as far as I'm concerned I have a 3ww till the scan and then I can relax a little.

Spoke to my clinic and I'm now doing a natural FET rather than medicated as I was just too anxious about the medication after how ill I felt last time.

Hoping that I ovulate this month as then can go ahead. I just think the less medication the better but clinic didn't seem overly positive about my choice so really not sure :( I just feel that stress about if I will be ill/and/or feeling ill is too much for me and may affect things

waiting the clinic can make their recommendation but you have to do what is right for you. Thanks

I just feel that the less medication I have the better. I felt so ill in April having mild Ivf and have never even been ok on the pill.

I just want to give it a try and see if my body can do what it's meant to. I have pcos but do ovulate some months so fingers crossed

lildottie · 18/08/2015 14:37

well you are more likely to ovulate if you don't stress about it on my experience. I'm always cd20+ ovulator then I gave up in cycle before o went back on pill and ov cd15. also ov'd cd14 in month of hsg when we were told we couldn't ttc that month. easier said than done though, especially when u have to do the opks to time the fet.

Report
Waitingimpatient · 18/08/2015 14:46

I think I usually ovulate day 21+ as have a 35day+ cycle. I always get ewcm and ovulation pain so I'm pretty sure it happens most months !
My tubes are ruined so not a chance of it happening naturally at all :( but I'm hopeful the fet may work (have three frosties so may get lucky with one of them !)

how many are you going to defrost waiting? I almost envy your tubes, I think the fact there's no evidence of anything wrong withe coupled with dhs improved numbers at last Ivf make it all the more difficult to deal with the fact it hasn't happened naturally!

Report
Waitingimpatient · 18/08/2015 22:17

I will only be having one transferred back so hopefully will only need to defrost 1 (unless it doesn't survive the thaw then they will defrost another I suppose??!)

lildottie · 18/08/2015 22:39

won't you have to wait for a new cycle? sorry, I didn't have anything to freeze so know nothing about FETs!

Huge congratulations Toes! I have all my fingers crossed for a sticky bean Flowers

Waiting I like the sound of your natural FET, especially after you were so ill before. I still think of your comment about "can feel my ovaries jiggling at every bump" when I'm driving to work. I really hope it goes well for you.

Waitingimpatient · 19/08/2015 07:36

My mild IVF was back in April and we had to freeze all as I wasn't well, had a lot of follicles and the clinic were worried about ohss. I had a buserilin trigger instead of hcg and then cetrotide and clexane for a few days after to shut everything down I think! I'd needed Stimms for 14 days rather than the 5-10 they'd told me I'd need so I'd been uncomfy as well for a good couple weeks, I could really feel my ovaries all the time !!

Felt rubbish for a while after and had some other problems with my stomach so decided to wait till I felt 100% as I really believe I need to be feeling well before I try the FET. I was all set for a medicated cycle but just thought at the last minute I need to try natural as I don't think hormonal medications suit me well at all so hoping that natural works. If I don't ovulate we can always try medicated but I'm having reflexology and acupuncture and am feeling positive.

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 19/08/2015 13:44

waiting seems like you have really thought this through and it is the best thing to try at this stage. I have to say I felt so much better just doing a FET as opposed to the fresh with fewer hormones flying around. So is you apply the same principle from mild to unmedicated you should feel tons better! Fingers crossed for you x

I just had my beta results back, I'm 9dp5dt and it's 100. They seem happy with that so I am quietly optimistic. Now the horrid 3ww for a scan. That's where it all went wrong last time so I am terrified.

It's weird, last time my beta was 150ish and when I POAS the line was really faint. This time even 2 days ago it was much darker than it ever had been last time, and today the pregnant line was darker than the control line! Weird how my numbers are smaller but the lines are darker...

Hey all,
just wondering if anyone can help my tiny little mind.
what is the difference between a "withdrawal bleed" AND a period?
i have PCOS, i dont have periods, well... they arrive when they like. ive had one or 2 this year.
meant to be starting Norethisterone soon so then in 2 weeks ish we start SP IVF.
Lately ive been having REALLY BAD period pains,, its been going on a good solid week now - BUT no AF! (other typical AF symptoms also for me, spots on chin/sore boobs are also present)
should i hang on and see if it arrives or start taking norethisterone as planned? the reason i ask, is surely a good heavy bleed is better to get the old out... then start with fresh if all norerthisterone does is force you to have a "withdrawal" or does it make no difference???
ive taken norethisterone plenty of times before and my bleeds are always light and only last a couple of days - where as a PROPER period is very heavy.
am i talking out of my backside?
im so emtional already, without having even started. i do just wanna get on with it and get started but not sure if af is around the corner.
ps: rang clinic, doc not in - could just cry over something so trivial. god help me when we actually start!

Hi Bessie

I have PCOS too and my consultant said for the purposes of fertility treatment cycles, a withdrawal bleed counts as AF: it’s just a hormonally induced bleed to ‘reset’ the cycle so the uterine lining gets flushed out and the clock reset, so you know you’re starting from Day 1

A true period is a bleed that comes on 14 days after ovulation, i.e. the clock naturally resets itself

If you don’t ovulate, or only ovulate v infrequently (as is usually the case with PCOS) then my Dr said he’d prescribe Norethisterone to bring on a withdrawal bleed rather than waiting for an indeterminate amount of time for a natural period that might never turn up!

I don’t know about the difference between the heaviness and lightness, but my Dr told me to count Day 1 as the first day of proper red blood flow, i.e. don’t count spotting as the start of AF for counting purposes

Don't know if that was any help?!

xx

So I guess it's up to you whether you want to hang on and see if AF does turn up by herself or if you want to take the Norethisterone to bring it on if she hasn't turned up. My Dr said it didn't make any difference to the success of treatment whether the bleed was a natural period or an induced withdrawal bleed. Xx
