Asymptomatic endometriosis?

Hi ladies,

I was wondering if any of you have any experience on asymptomatic endo?

Long story short: been ttc for 2.5 years, had an mc at the very beginning (only took 2 months to get pg), then another mc 11 months later and nothing since. Got the tests done and everything came back normal, apart from my slightly short luteal phase, which is being treated with progesterone.

Been on clomid with hcg shot for 3 months and had two failed IUI cycles.

My gyno has suggested laparoscopy to discard (or confirm, and if possible treat) endometriosis. I don't have any of the usual symptoms but apparently 20% to 30% of the cases are asymptomatic.

The laparoscopy is on Tuesday so I'm trying to prepare myself for different outcomes.

If anyone has been through similar and would tell me about their experience, that would be amazing.

Thank you!!

'Travelling husband' = running to my ovulation app every time he announces a trip, to see if it coincides with scheduled sexy time! :)

*Fankle, Wednesday is so soon! I am crossing everything for you.

I mc-d at 12 weeks in December 2011. I never suspected anything was wrong (everyone in my family has 'excellent pregnancies' so I didn't worry about the fact that I felt completely normal). I didn't even panic when I started to spot with red blood. But I worried when the flow got heavier and heavier and the pain became excruciating. Then we found out that I had a missed miscarriage, the embryo had actually stopped developing at 6 weeks but my body didn't 'register it' until 6 weeks later...

Second time I started spotting two days after BFP and the mc was confirmed through blood work a week later.

So yes, I am going to be a bit of a nutcase about the whole thing but I am sort of hoping to relax a bit around week 10 or 11? looks hopeful

HOWEVER, according to a study on endometriosis, endo gives you a 38% chance of mc, as opposed to the 'usual' 15%-20% so maybe we do have reason to think things will work out this time! Positive thinking!!!!

How awful for that to happen to you twice. Third time lucky for you this time! We do need to try a bit of PMA...even though it's hard after our bad experiences. That research is definitely encouraging.

Fankle Wishing you all the best for tomorrow!!!!

Thank you. I'm feeling very nervous about it. Hope I can concentrate on work today!

Fankletastic · 21/05/2014 19:37

Just letting you know that the scan went well. Heartbeat flickering and measuring v close to what I thought- 6+5...although the second measurement said 6+6.

I am feeling so relieved but will prob go back for another one in a few weeks.

How are you today?

maamalady · 21/05/2014 20:05

Hooray! Excellent news, fankle :)

EricaJ · 22/05/2014 05:51

Brilliant news Fankle!!! You must be so happy!

I am fine, bit nervous about the scan tomorrow but manageably so. I've been feeling nauseous on and off and I got a cold sore for the first time in years (nice.not) so hoping these are all signals that things are going well...

Have a fantastic week end celebrating the amazing news!

Thank you Giraffe and Erica. We were quite stunned when the dr said '..so this will make your EDD 9th January' as I hadn't even told him my dates...and that's what all the online calculators have said! Got first midwife appointment on Tuesday so hopefully the days will fly by until then. Usually I dislike how fast time flies but now I really really want time to speed up!

Those symptoms sound promising E - keeping everything crossed for tomorrow for you.

Giraffe how are you feeling now that you're in the last month?

maamalady · 22/05/2014 13:47

Fingers crossed for tomorrow, erica. Have you tried the compeed patches for the cold sore? I'm prone to them, and find the patches work really well for speeding up healing time and minimising scabbing. They're not as invisible as they claim, but are worth it anyway, I think. Get the genuine compeed ones - the boots version are not so good, imo.

Tuesday is not too far away, fankle, it'll be here before you know it :)

36 weeks today and still feeling absolutely fine, just rather unwieldy! I'm now carting my notes about everywhere I go and hospital bag is ready to go aside from a couple of bits. No sign of anything starting, but I'll be surprised if baby is on time never mind early! We have a tour or the birth centre tomorrow as well as usual midwife appt, so quite looking forward to that :)

Fankletastic · 23/05/2014 08:42

Fingers crossed for a little flickering heart beat today Erica

Giraffe so it's really just a waiting game now. No doubt you'll be nesting away! Enjoy this time...and erm...sleep as much as you can (as if trying to 'bank' it) Smile. I think you are on the PESH thread..? I am lingering on the BESH thread for a bit longer, until it feels 'safe'. Blush

maamalady · 23/05/2014 10:58

I thought I recognised your name from the BESH threads! I stopped posting on there quite early on as I felt I was rubbing people's noses in my good fortune. The PESH thread is going strong, we have several people due in June so it'll be all go fairly soon. I don't know if I'm nesting yet - I don't really think so , but when the midwife asked earlier, DH immediately said I was so who knows! Grin

Hope all goes well today erica :)

EricaJ · 24/05/2014 19:05

Thanks ladies for the positive vibes! We got a heartbeat yesterday! It measured 6+4 rather than 6+5 and everything else seemed fine.

So happy!

I'm going for another scan in 2 weeks and if that goes well, I'll have the 12 week scan on the 30th of June... Gaaaaaaahhhh!!!

Evil, you sound very calm and organised!

Hope you are having a lovely week end!

Excellent news! So pleased for you. You are not very far behind me...do you know your edd?

EricaJ · 26/05/2014 11:59

Hello,

I started bleeding really heavily last night, bright, red blood. Totally out of the blue, still had nausea, swollen breasts and zero cramps.

Called my gyno, told me to go A&E and get another progesterone shot and call him the morning. More bleeding through the night, i passed some clots so I thought that was that, another miscarriage.

Went for an ultrasound this morning and we couldn't believe it when we were told that the foetus is fine, growing and with a strong heart beat but I am bleeding for some reason and I have threatened miscarriage. They've put me on tons of progesterone and bed rest ('only leave bed to use the washroom) to see if we can save this pregnancy.

I am obviously relieved that there is still some hope but don't know how to cope with the mental stress anymore. I suspect that being stuck in bed isn't going to help with that...

Do you have any suggestions in terms of entetrtaining myself (series, movies, books) and not going completely nuts

If this baby makes it, EED would be 13.01.2015 Fankle

Fankletastic · 26/05/2014 12:19

Oh no Erica how utterly stressful and worrying for you. I had to read this post several times to make sure I had taken it in...what a horrible horrible drama you have had. I sincerely hope the bleeding comes to an end and that in itself will ease the worry a bit. Until then, bed rest is sensible. As for box sets, have you seen Mad Men? Or The Wire? I also got into The Killing. I think all of those will help to take your mind to another place. And Girls is good, if you want something more girly.

I am keeping everything crossed for you and sending you vibes of positivity. It's reassuring that the little one's heart is beating away fine. And it can be perfectly normal to have a serious bleed and threatened miscarriage but for everything to be ok. Just do what the experts tell you and maybe try some meditation/ breathing exercises. Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) is a good way of relaxing and sending you off to sleep...there may be a few apps out there for your phone.

Oh, I wish I could be more useful. Just keep resting and visualising a good outcome.

Xx

EricaJ · 26/05/2014 12:22

Thanks so much Fankle - it really, really means a lot.

I will check yoga nidra - I didn't sleep at all last night after passing the clot at 1.30 am and I can't really relax enough to sleep now either.

I will give Mad Men a go! The Wire is my absolute favourite, may also just rewatch that.

xx

I am also downloading a whole season of Masterchef. If Greg's 'pudding face' doesn't cheer me up, I don't know what it will... x

Fankletastic · 26/05/2014 12:40

Oh yes, I love a bit of master chef. And the last series was very good (love love love the winner...but obviously won't tell you who the winner was).

2 words- Idris Elba. That is all.

EricaJ · 26/05/2014 13:56

Hands off Fankle - Idris Elba is MY boyfriend (in a parallel reality at least)

OP posts:
maamalady · 26/05/2014 16:09

Oh good lord, erica, how frightening. Very best of luck, hopefully all the drugs and being super careful will see you right.

As for series to watch, you can't really beat Buffy, I reckon - every single episode is on Netflix, if you have that? We have Being Human on DVD too - fabulous programme. I promise vampire-related TV isn't all I watch, though! If you like masterchef it's always worth watching the Buttery Biscuit Base video on youtube - it's short but so, so funny.

maamalady · 26/05/2014 16:19

And if you've ever read/seen Twilight, you will love this - whether you like Twilight or not. It will make you smile at the very least :)

EricaJ · 26/05/2014 16:35

Thanks Evil!

I had forgotten how awesome is Buffy!! I love vampires, I had forgotten how cool she was (specially compared to rather lame Edward Cullen - that video is awesome!).

Thanks ladies! I really appreciate your positive vibes and suggestions. I am not quite ready to talk to people in real life about this so this is really helping!

OP posts:
maamalady · 26/05/2014 18:51

"Why are you talking to me, like we're some kind of talking buddies?" Grin I think Buffy was talking to Spike in the original episode - I love him almost beyond reason, because I'm a hopeless fangirl...

EricaJ · 26/05/2014 19:06

Spike is the boss of sexy vampires. And doesn't give super lame 'intense stare', like Cullen.

OP posts:
maamalady · 26/05/2014 19:28

He really, really is Angel, on the other hand, is the daddy of moody grumpy slightly stalkery vampires - Edward is SO based on him, I reckon! Though Angel has a great deal more personality and of course the occasional sheer terrifying brilliance of being Angelus. Edward is just a bit mopey - nowhere near so attractive!
