Anyone starting IUI soon?

I have a clinic appointment tomorrow, I think to start injections, feeling a bit nervous about the whole thing, looking for others experiences and general chat/support.

This is the first cycle, anyone else in a similar position??

I've only just managed to reset password so been lurking but couldn't post!

I liked that article, I'm 34 next week so beginning to get a bit stressed! I had second iui on Wednesday so test date is 10th July, not feeling that confident though as chances of it working twice in a row must be low but here's hoping it works for all of us :)

EricaJ · 01/07/2014 07:26

Hi Flower,

Sorry to hear about your mc. I also got a BFP but ended up in mc at 7 weeks. I try to stay positive but sometimes it just feels it's all too much!

Good luck ladies!

Clarey3000 · 01/07/2014 19:59

Hi
Flower so sorry about your mc. I can't imagine how tough it must be - seems so unfair for those of us who've waited so long to go through that as well.
I'm due to test on Friday but have been feeling pretty PMT so fairly sure iui hasn't worked this time. Hoping to get straight on it again this month then rush through to IVF, I'm hoping that might be more successful for me, especially now I have low ovarian reserves. Just want to get on with it!
Erica how are you doing? Have you got another iui coming up?
Xx

Not holding out much hope as I have low AMH but just had first IUI. I don't believe I have responded to the drugs as had one mature follicle which took until day 17 to grow to 1.7mm then didn't grow anymore despite more gonaf-f. Had trigger of ovitrelle on SUnday then IUI on Monday and didn't get any ovulation symptoms at all (no cervical mucus or painful boobs etc). When I had my first round of IUI three years ago and conceived my DS I had 3 mature follicles by day 12 and after ovitrelle felt horrendous with back pain, sore boobs and this persisted for around 10days. I don't think there was anything there to be released and there hasn't been ovulation at all? Does anyone have any thoughts?? How have others felt after ovitrelle?

Been doing lots of IVF research today as I have lost all of my optimism.

Clarey3000 · 05/07/2014 09:56

Hi all

Sharon, I don't think I felt much at all after ovitrelle - I've had it twice now as well as another brand (pregnyl?), but don't remember any symptoms. Really hoping it works out for you - brilliant that it has done before so you know it is possible. I was diagnosed with low AMH recently, my clinic was reinforcing the idea that it only takes one, so fingers crossed.

I have had BFP for last 3 days - I was supposed to test 14 dpiui but did sneaky test on day 13 which showed feint positive which I thought was prob trigger shot still in my system, then tested again day 14 and 15 (today), and line has got darker, still not as dark as test line but it's definitely a line....! Finding it a bit difficult to believe, worried about cp or mc. Guess it's normal to be unsure after waiting so long, and I haven't been able to speak to the clinic about it. also feeling really sick the last couple of days so really hoping this could be it...?!

Xx

sharond101 · 05/07/2014 12:58

OMG Clarey that sounds like a BFP!!! How many cycles have you done? How many follicles did you have?? Would your period have been due yesterday then??? How low is your AMH? I had a bfp when AMH was higher than it is now which is 4.6.

sharond101 · 05/07/2014 13:03

Also CLarey (too many questions sorry) what test did you use and how was the wedding??

So pleased for youxxx

Clarey3000 · 05/07/2014 14:13

Hi Sharon
Thanks so much! Still not really sure if I believe it..! Second cycle of iui, had 2 follicles, period due today, AMH 3.7. Wedding was lovely, had a glass of wine (in denial I think!), but that's last one for a while all being well! Fiancé is bring very cautious and not getting excited, but the way I'm seeing it is I'm pregnant!!! I may not still be pregnant next week, or next month, or in 3 months, but for now I think I am actually pregnant and I'm enjoying seeing those two lines. After 2.5 years of trying I'm just so delighted that conception has taken place! Hopefully it will stick...
I tested with first response, also bought some clear blue which I'll test with tomorrow as well. Feeling pretty sick which I'm surprised at so early on..? I'd have thought the sickness would come a bit later, any ideas?
Btw your first post on this always gave me hope every time I logged on it was at the top saying that iui worked for you! Fingers crossed it will again (and my AMH is lower than yours!)

I had hyperemesis claret from 7 weeks. Felt nauseous from 6 weeks. At time of testing felt like AF was on the way. Sore back and crampy. I didn't have iui this time until cd21. Only bone folliclecgrew to 17mm and despite more gonal f didn't grow anymore so went ahead with procedure anyway. Last scan on day 18 with ni growth since day 16. I expect the follicle was poor quality having not grown and prob wasn't even around atvtime of iui. I had no symptoms of ovulation (mucus was unfriendly kind). been really upset and emotional and believe paying for iui will be our only option. I hope iam wrong.

Floweroct · 06/07/2014 18:04

Congrats clarey, I've been wondering when you'd test I couldn't remember your otd. That's really great news hope it all goes well. I'm not supposed to test til Thursday but feel like I'm about to come on and have no symptoms so not holding out much hope.

Clarey3000 · 08/07/2014 15:12

Thanks Flowers - still just taking it all in and hoping it all goes ok - still such early days. Fingers crossed for you. I was convinced I was about to get AF as well..

Sharon thanks for that - it seems most people get sick from wk6 but I'm def feeling it already... Hope you're feeling a bit better - do lots of nice things for yourself and take easy. it's such a rollercoaster this whole thing, but it has worked for you before so hopefully it will work again.

Xx

sharond101 · 08/07/2014 22:06

Thanks Clarey. You will learn soon enough the taking it easy days are over! Doing lots of fun things with DS is distracting me.

Floweroct · 09/07/2014 14:22

Bugger! Bfn this am at 14diui, otd is tmrw but barring a miracle I'm out :( No af yet, had brown spotting on 12dpiui but nothing since. I assume its just cyclogest stopping it arriving,

sharond101 · 11/07/2014 21:56

AF arrived earlier than expected this morning (although given the poor results I have had this cycle I am surprised anything worked well enough for me to have a bleed). Doesn't really tie in with time of IUI so timing was wrong. Going to double my dose of injections this month to 150 gonal f. However as today is Friday and the scan showed my lining was still really thick they don't want me to take clomid as I did on previous cycles. They will rescan me on Monday to check the lining has gone down (which I expect as AF is now in full force) but that will be cd4 and thus they said too late for clomid. I didn't ever respond to clomid on it's own but fell pregnant 3 years ago with DS on clomid and gonal f combination. Did those using injectibles also have clomid? Will it make any difference since I didn't respond to it on it's own?

EricaJ · 12/07/2014 13:45

Congrats Clarey! Such great news! xx

Floweroct · 12/07/2014 18:41

Sorry af got you Sharon. I just had gonal f not clomid as well I haven't heard of clomid with injectables before. Our clinic doesn't allow you to go straight into another cycle it's so annoying so its just a natural cycle this month so can't imagine we'll have much luck! Hope it goes wel for you.

sharond101 · 12/07/2014 21:50

So you have a cycle off of treatment each time FLowercot>

Floweroct · 12/07/2014 22:54

Well first iui I got bfp but had miscarriage I had to wait for first period after mc and then wait until second period to start treatment again. This was my second I know that I can't start it now but can't remember whether I can start as soon as I get next af or if its one after as it is we have nhs ivf appt this month so will be doing that next anyway.

sharond101 · 13/07/2014 13:58

I think that's standard flower. After mc it's advised to wait three cycles. My clinic are the same. So sorry you have had to go through that. I had a mc in 2010. Its still painful to think about it.

sharond101 · 13/07/2014 14:00

Just re read your post flower & it's different from what I first interpreted it as. Not heard of having to wait between cycles.

Marymaymay · 17/07/2014 20:20

I just got bfp after round 2 of ICI! I completely thought I was out of the game this month, just did one last preg test this morning. boom! There it was! I took a picture of the follie on the scan so hopefully one day I can show my child what it looked like before it was conceived.

We used frozen sperm following infertility through DH's cancer. Can highly recommend the Clearblue Fertility Monitor, it meant I got in the clinic at the exact right time.

Perdita123 · 17/07/2014 21:15

Congratulations Marymaymay!! That's very encouraging, I unfortunately just got a bfn from my second IUI, but am trying to stay positive as possible. I was relying on the clinic to get the timings right, but maybe I will get the fertility monitor too, I suppose timing is the main thing to get right. How come you thought you were out, did you have any symptoms?

oohdaddypig · 17/07/2014 21:27

Hi all. Just checking in as still think about you.

clarey huge congratulations on your BFP. Delighted for you! Hope you are feeling ok?

flower gutted to hear about your m/c. Any m/c is hard but after fertility treatment it feels so desperately unfair. What is your clinic saying? I had my m/c and at least two chemicals before DC2.

Hello to everyone else.

Marymaymay · 17/07/2014 21:53

I had insemination done on the Thursday. mine was round 2 of ICI which is a bit different to IUI (think medicalised turkey baster) The following weds I had nasty taste in my mouth and cramping. Then nothing until today (15 days after insem) when it felt like my period was coming early. Decided to do one last test as BFN on an ultra early test on days9,10,11. However these were eBay cheapies and I don't believe that they are the 10mi that they claim to be. I had just a strong response on a regular clearblue today....

Since finding out I have felt ridiculously pregnant! Cramps, sickness, bad taste etc.

I would def recommend the fertility monitor, it was bang on with mine both months. I've also been having acupuncture once a week and also on the day of insemination, just afterwards. Whether it was that which worked I don't know but it definitely helped me to feel more in control of the process...

Clarey3000 · 21/07/2014 22:10

Hi everyone - and thanks Erica & Daddy!
I'm doing good, trying not to be anxious & trying to enjoy each day for what it is. Get panicked when I don't feel sick which is pretty crazy..! Got a scan on Wednesday so looking forward to seeing if everything is ok & it's growing in the right place (think higher risk of ectopic with iui).

Hope you're all ok & managing to stay positive, here's hoping for lots more BFPs on this thread! Xx
