A supportive and slightly fluffy thread for those dealing with the issues of ttc longterm, whether with assisted fertility or not.

Oh no pink that's awful! Poor thing and poor you too! Hope she gets sorted out.
The no bleeding at 10wks is a brilliant sign!

Yes I'm glad I had the day off too. Getting a bit clingy about him going back to work tommorrow but have got to get through that....and feel a lot better since having the day off. Still no bleeding but certain it'll be here tommorrow morning.

queenrollo · 10/11/2012 22:17

pink my old dog did that on some broken glass. An operation, hilarious impossible to keep clean dressing and a couple of hundred pounds later, the pad healed just fine. It meant keeping it clean and a change of walk (lived at the seaside, so no becah walks for a while), but it healed and never caused any bother.
And on the other - I too had a lifting of sickness/diffed symptoms at 10 weeks...typically when the placenta starts to take over and your hormones/body settles a bit.

pinkapples · 11/11/2012 13:01

Hehe well see what the vets say, they'll do what they think I expect... She looked very proud of the pink bandage they put on her foot last night and when she sat it looked very much as if she was saying "hey, look at me in my cool bandage" with her foot sticking out Grin

Devilforasideboard · 11/11/2012 16:27

Hi all, sounds like it's been an eventful weekend!

Pink, I hope the little lady is feeling better and enjoying the attention. Can't believe you're nearly ten weeks!

Waiting, have a huge squeeze (()) Glad you're feeling a bit better x

Summer, that sounds like a very sensible approach. I'm eternally grateful we went for a holiday before ramping up the treatment. I think going into it relaxed with some good memories of 'us time' really helped us stay positive. Hopefully it'll be the same for you and you'll be refreshed for the next round.

I've had an interesting weekend Grin. Both sets of parents absolutely delighted but not surprised with our news (we are in out mid/late 30s and been married a few years so they've been expecting it for a while I think). Both grannies to be cried and are cautiously deciding what they want to be called Smile. Got to grill my mother on her pregnancies and was reassured to hear she'd never actually been sick. I then proceeded to throw up at one o'clock this morning Grin I've had practically no sleep as the bed was so uncomfortable then DH was snoring and smelling of beer. However I'm home now and snuggled up in bed. Not feeling too bad now but quite crampy which I'm hoping is just Bobble settling in comfortably.

Off to start googling the terrifying world of prams as my parents have said they'll pay for it Grin

waitingtobeamummy · 11/11/2012 16:34

Ahh devil that sounds like a lovely weekend (apart from the vomiting and uncomfy bed obviously!) I've had cramps all weekend but just odd wipes of brown. Just had a bright red wipe. Tmi again I know apologies. So period definatly on its way but I am getting confused. Need to take 2nd round of clomid from day 2. Do I count this as day 1? Or do I count the day I have full flow of red blood/needing a tampon. Stressing that I'll do it wrong.

summerintherosegarden · 11/11/2012 17:34

Oh devil that is lovely - and even the vomiting can be put down to a good cause! Googling prams, how exciting!

Pink, hope your little girl is doing better this evening and enjoying showing off her bandage! Another one here who can't believe you're 10 weeks - where the heck did the time go?

Waiting, you should count your first day of full flow as day 1, which I basically take as the first day (whether it's morning or evening) that you need to put a tampon in. If you're just getting blood when you wipe then that can be pre-AF spotting and doesn't technically count (I only know this because the period I had at the end of last cycle was very light and I was mightily confused so chatted it through with the nurse!)

Had a lovely day out in the hills, feeling relaxed. Thanks devil, I feel so much better for even having made the decision - think I need a psychological break as much as a physical one!

waitingtobeamummy · 11/11/2012 17:41

Thanks summer . Dh came home and said that specialist had told me the same when we saw him (i was so excited that I was getting clomid that I didn't really listen Blush )

pinkapples · 11/11/2012 18:39

Awww devil that's lovely glad their all pleased my mum has that problem too, she doesn't want to sound old (she's 48 at Christmas) so gran,, granny and grandma are out she also doesn't like nan or nanna so well see what she comes up with Grin

Trixie (dog) is home now bandaged and a little dazed eaten a bit but not much and is asleep on my lap... She was not impressed that she had to have a plastic bag on it to have a wee Grin but its her own silly fault for not looking where she was going Smile

Pippin is causing hell today can't decide if its nausea or not just feeling absolutely knackered and its probably unrelated but I have a very itchy lower back! Not cool Hmm scan tomorrow so time will tell I should be 9+6 but if pippin isn't paying attention they will measure her/him/it at 9+1 so well see x

Glad you had a good weekend in the hills Grin sounds very relaxing I'm just glad to be home tbh

pinkapples · 12/11/2012 12:21

Wriggly bean is on board and we saw its little kick out which was very sweet and made dh cry almost Grin

Got my date through for my 12 week and it is the 25th November on dh's birthday Grin exciting

flixy102 · 12/11/2012 13:36

Aww pink that sounds lovely seeing your little wriggly baby! Grin
I was out for lunch on Saturday with my very pregnant friend and loved watching her bump move around (and was only slightly Envy!)

pinkapples · 12/11/2012 18:43

Awww flixy it'll be you soon fingers crossed x
Felt awful saying bye to the clinic this morning especially with couples sat in there but I was secretly very happy Grin

Was a bit concerned when they said I didn't have to use the prog gel anymore Sad very worried that it was somehow keeping me ok... I've got 5 left so am going to do one every other day to make myself feel better Grin

flixy102 · 12/11/2012 20:27

Aww pink I'm sure you'll be grand without the gel, just remember how happy your kicking, waving baby inside is! I'm sure it's a big comfort to take it tho.

I caved today and bought a clearblue fertility monitor Blush. It's 2nd hand from eBay tho and only cost me £25 so going to give it a go from next cycle, nothing to lose I suppose. Grin

summerintherosegarden · 13/11/2012 07:53

Oh pink, that's so lovely...you are so lucky!

Flixy, don't feel embarrassed - if your prolactin has settled there's no reason why you shouldn't be ovulating now right? And if the fertility monitor can help you pinpoint the right days then that's £25 well spent! What CD are you on now, will you not be testing soon?

flixy102 · 13/11/2012 10:56

Thanks summer I just feel like some sort of desperate case, haven't even had one full cycle yet!
I'm on CD23 but I only ovulated around CD19 I think so a wee while to go yet. Don't think we got our timings right this month tho as I didn't know when I was going to ovulate so not being too positive. (Pardon my really bad pun!)Grin

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 13/11/2012 11:13

Hey all, thought I'd drop in and see how things were!

pink so glad things are sticking and you've seen a wriggly baby on screen - totally amazing, isn't it?

flixy I'm gkad to hear you're ovulating. I wouldn't stress too much about timing - just try to do it regularly. According to my dates I got diffed from dtd on CD6! Hmm

devil I have no idea what to do about prams as yet! Glad things are good with you too. I stopped puking so much around week 9 and it's gradually got less and less frequent (though never say never!).

waiting and summer, sorry to hear its still tough :(

I'm 17 weeks today! :) only 3 weeks til the 20 week scan and halfway point!

Thinking of you all!

StrawberriesTasteLikeLipsDo · 13/11/2012 11:34

Just popping my head round the door.. (Have NC again since I was here went under nicknames that contained BB previously) just to say, Pink so glad things are going well for you! queen how far are you now? faith love the subtle name change, glad things are going so well! Im 32 + 4 today feel huge but have a section date now.

Glad things are going well in the hut, its such a supportive place! Sometimes for me the support of here was all that kept me sane! Ironically becoming pregnant has made my GP admit that I have a problem with insulin resistance, such irony!

Anyway fingers crossed for you all!

queenrollo · 13/11/2012 11:58

strawbs hello there Smile I'm 27 weeks....had a few weeks of pretty abundant energy and now winding down into a slower last tri I think.....

StrawberriesTasteLikeLipsDo · 13/11/2012 12:25

queen that sounds familiar, im definitely tired now, finding the second time around such a different experience, have you found that?

summerintherosegarden · 13/11/2012 18:00

Hi faith and all the other hut graduates!

Well things are moving forward for me in a slightly unexpected direction and would love to pick the brains of those girls who've had either laparoscopy or the dye one (not even going to try to spell that)

After 3 clomid cycles with no ov, the clinic's moving me onto the jabs, but I need to have tubes etc checked first. They've given me the option of either op so just wondering what those of you in the know think? I'm veering towards the lap - even if it means anaesthetic and a couple of days rest, I feel like it'd be better to get the full MOT as it were.

Waiting time for both ops is about the same - 3/4 months.

Hope everyone else doing well x

Devilforasideboard · 13/11/2012 18:21

Is it bedtime yet? I swear I have never been so tired in my life!

Sorry I can't be any use on the tests but so glad things are moving forwards.

So nice to see some graduates around as well, this place is just lovely Smile

Yay for wriggly Pippin Pink! Does it feel like you're off to big school now?

9 days til my scan and I'm terrified there won't be anything there. Trying to put it to the back of my mind as there's nothing I can do and there's no reason it won't be ok.

pinkapples · 13/11/2012 18:40

You'll be fine devil don't worry I wasn't feeling so sick last week and really panicked until the scan yesterday then it was all forgotten got my next one on hubby's birthday but that is the 12 week one with the RUH Grin

I have the lap and diathermy last July and not a lot to tell really went in at 7.30 in the morning on the day of the op and was out by 4pm had a week of sick but felt fine really no real pain just a dull kind of ache that hung around for a couple of days. The diathermy is the hole drilling which it turns out didn't actually help me but I'm told it does work wonders for those with no other issues (I have pcos so didn't make enough hormones to grow an egg an ovulate it) best chance of conceiving is within 3 months of the lap.. So it's worth a go I guess Smile fingers crossed for a quick waiting list

Nice to see the hut graduates back I'm not ready to go just yet but do hope I manage to make it all the way to June Grin

summerintherosegarden · 14/11/2012 13:45

Thanks for that info pink. I have pcos too so I don't think the hole drilling will help much - not sure they are even going to do it - I think they're more doing these tests as a diagnostic thing to check tubes aren't blocked etc so next step would be the jabs rather than straight to IVF.
There's a bit of me that just wants to go straight to IVF though - probably because of yours and devils recent success! :)

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 14/11/2012 16:58

summer I had a HSG. Weirdly I did a shift with the nurse who booked me in on Sunday and was able to tell her I was diffed!

So with the HSG you're obviously awake. I went, changed into a gown, climbed on the table. The staff were amazingly luffly. Essentially they poke a tiny tube up your cervix - now for me this was quite ouchy, I'd say it smarted! Because I have a narrow cervix. Then they showed me the pictures of the dye spilling out. I had to wait for a repeat X-ray to check the dye had spilled out ok. I did spot quite a bit afterwards.

I guess the advantage of the lap and dye is if they find anything, they can deal with it then and there, whereas the HSG will only show what's there. Course the advantage is it means no anaesthetic. I would lean towards the lap and dye if I had a feeling there was something wrong and they could do something about it. I'd go for the HSG if I didn't think they'd find anything...

devil it definitely gets better! :) try to stay positive. I kept saying to myself There's no reason to assume this will be anything other than a normal pregnancy. I read on here someone said its a like Shrodinger's cat! :)

queenrollo · 14/11/2012 18:29

summer I had the HSG. I think I found it slightly less uncomfortable than faith but I've had a baby before and so the opening to the cervix is wider (this can make a difference). I also had to wait around for x-rays as well as the 'live action' dye shots they take. My test showed a blocked tube.
I then went on to have the lap and dye. The tube was blocked because it was stuck to the ovary. They released it and the tube was then clear. They also discovered I had endo deposits (i had NO idea I had endo) and they treated them while they were there.

In your position I'd probably take the lap and dye. Yes it's surgery, but if the HSG shows issues with the tubes then it's possible they will suggest lap and dye anyway to get a better look. You need to weigh up the pros and cons of each and how they apply to your own situation though.

summerintherosegarden · 14/11/2012 19:00

Thanks faith and queen. I am leaning towards the lap and dye for the very reason that, if there is something wrong, they can sort it out then and there. I explained it to DH as "a full MOT instead of just an oil change" (dodgy analogy, I know) and he seemed baffled as to why I wouldn't go for it.
I've never had heavy/painful periods so I always assumed I didn't have endo but, from what you say queen, who knows if it is lurking there!

I think I will go for the lap and dye if the waiting list is similar... for those of you who are pregnant, do you now look back on all the waiting and feel like it wasn't that bad? It feels so damn slow when you're going through it...
