Russian spy uses British passport

The foreign secretary said the misuse of British passports was "intolerable".

Oops that was only for Israel

Why in this case does the Foreign Office merely say: ?We remain confident that the British passport is one of the most secure documents of its kind ? fully meeting rigorous international standards.

Because its easy (and expected) to bash Israel.

"Because its easy (and expected) to bash Israel."

Erm, no.

Because Israel stole the identities of British people and used them to murder someone.

We're not totally sure what's going on with spies but it may well have not involved stealing anyone's identity and it certainly didn't involve killing anybody.

See the difference?

Sorry, they "murdered" someone who was an avowed terrorist.

Would you object to someone killing Bin Laden?

You can certainly understand that the murder/execution/assassination of someone in a foreign country is a very sensitive and controversial matter?

It was done using the stolen identities of a number of people, including some British citizens.

It therefore put those British people at risk as they were made to appear to be the assassins. Given the nature of the situation in the middle east that risk could actually have been quite substantial had the hit squad not been quite so inept and their assumed identities only became known to hit squads on the other side.

That is why the Israeli actions were more serious.

How would you feel if they stole your identity and used it to assassinate someone?

How would you feel if that target's friends then paid you a visit?

At present the Russians appears to have only been using fake, rather than duplicated passports.

Obviously not good but also obviously in a very different league.
