when was the last time the DM or any newspaper, celebrated a woman starting a business from scratch doing something other than bake cakes?

So, the fact that this woman is employing local people and sourcing local ingredients thus helping the both the local economy and struggling farmers who were devastated bu the foot and mouth disaster (including her own farm) is all worthless because she happens to have set up a baking business?

Asda is one of her customers FFS, she's not set up some poxy cupcake shop in a poncey London suburb.

If the woman had started say, a garage or IT company, do you think it would be so proudly paraded in the DM's pink "femail" section?

As long as she's adhering to current food hygiene regulations then I can't see the harm in it.

Tamara Mellon's just got a OBE for selling shoes. That's not baking cakes and it has pride of place as the first picture in the business section of today's Times.

I thought it was a nice,uplifting story. Over coming adversity and creating jobs, contributing to local community.

No there's nothing wrong with starting a cake business. Or any business. But PP is correct to ask "If the woman had started say, a garage or IT company, do you think it would be so proudly paraded in the DM's pink "femail" section?"

Because I expect it wouldn't.
