I've been reading Gitta Sereny's work recently - started off with the Mary Bell book after the Jon Venables thing recently, and then went on to Speer and the "mercy killing" books, trying to understand... and it's still happening, we've learned nothing.

It's also very long lol! Took me weeks to get through, but quite fascinating how he managed to separate off what he was doing from "who he was". I wonder if those people now playing Mengele can do the same?
