I am completely devastated... I am originally from Mangalore and have just found out that a couple of people I knew were on board. And sadly they are not among the survivors.

RIP to all the people who died on this aircraft

A friend of mine died in the tsunami on boxing day 2004 and it is really shocking when you find out.

It's even more scarier for me as my mother, sister and newborn baby are due to fly to the same airport tomorrow. Its been shut now and they are trying to make other arrangements. But I shudder to think of them travelling... another time, another place.

Its a tragedy too close to home.

I can't remember the number of times I've landed in that airport and the saddest thing is that a new airport was due to be operational in a few weeks.

I know this must be devastating for you and your family, please stay strong and give your folks the reassurance that they'll be fine. That's all we can do I guess, be there for our loved ones.

It's tragic, I'm Indian too and have flown with Air India multiple times.

Praying for those who've left us..for their souls to rest in peace and for the loved ones of those gone and grieving 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The video of the 2 young guys at the airport before leaving was heartbreaking. So many lives lost. I just cannot fathom how the one man walked away! An absolute miracle.
