Neither! According to the Professor of Genetics from Trinity College Dublin who has just been on irish Radio 1.

He said - paraphrasing here - that the scientist is a self promotor and aggrandizer, this discovery was actually discovered in the early 70's and pretty standard science now, and that if this is playing God, then God isn't up to much.
