Watching with interest. My Father is about to board a BA flight from Seattle due to arrive LHR at 11.50am.

I've got friends in the same situation... apparently they are monitoring overnight, fingers crossed!

My Dad has to fly from a airport local to my sister in Washington State to Seattle in an hour first. I guess once he arrives at Seattle, BA will inform. Not sure what happens on such a long flight - they are flying through the night and will have to enter airspace around 9am ...

I am very relieved to be flying NOWHERE until July - but then I am going to Crete - and everyone keeps saying "there's trouble in Greece....."

Still think it's best to err on the side of caution even having been stranded for 5 days - I saw the documentary about the volcano earlier (on sky anytime) and saw the state of the BA plane that flew through a volcanic ash cloud in 1986 or whenever it was. Bloody scary!

Imagine British guys will be getting a plan together overnight, my guess would be that your Dd's flight will go with the view to diverting if they have to.... hope it all goes well for him.

Yup - he's on his way... and with Scottish airports closing this morning, I'm not sure which flight path BA will go for... Dad might just be very lucky should the situation worsen as he is due to land at 11.50 and the next update is planned for midday. I hope your friends get home safe too.
