Foreign Office Pope Memo Blunder

Obviously some idiot at the FO had a few too many at lunchtime and thought they were writing for a sit-com. However, struck me as inevitable that the RC church is going to experience more and more ridicule which unlike 'Father Ted' won't be done with any affection.

How does any organisation recover from a complete loss of credibility?

FCO have apologised - what else can they do?

OK- it's rude, infantile and not diplomatic but far less of an issue for the church than the abuse cases surfacing all over the place.

And note the FCO were quick in apologising for what was a very crass memo. The church has not been so forthcoming in sorting out it's issues and being accountable.

Compared to the antics of some of the members this email is nothing.

I think that until he gives some really serious apology about the disgusting behavior of his underlings he deserves everything he gets. I think the reception party for him should all be wearing Henry the 8th tee shirts.

But the memo was pretty bloody crass.
