There's been some explosions in West London with 1 arrest and there is a woman on her phone in a block of flats where armed police are trying to coax a man out of the building!

OMG

Nbg · 29/07/2005 13:31

It sounds shocking.

They're shouting at a guy called Mohammed in a flat, telling him to undress and come out of the flat!

It appears to be all under control.

Nemo1977 · 29/07/2005 13:33

they just said there seems to be gas explosions just gone off

Nbg · 29/07/2005 13:33

It does look under control, it's the live coverage of this shouting that I find disturbing.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 29/07/2005 13:48

someone keep me updated please..... cant put news on because jess up and about now.

Nbg · 29/07/2005 13:50

They've made 1 arrest JABM and theres a raid going on right now in Notting Hill.

It seems as though they're struggling atm though as the guy they want is in a block of flats, he won't come out so I think they are evacuating everyone.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 29/07/2005 13:51

oh great.... thanks for the update. Lets hope this gets results.

Nbg · 29/07/2005 13:53

I get the impression it's going to turn nasty though as he's not appearing.

Ah they're saying now this man could be the Oval bomber, the one whose picture they had. He was the one wearing the New York top.

morningpaper · 29/07/2005 13:56

I find it a bit sick that they an broadcasting this sort of thing live.

It's not entertainment FFS.

Pennies · 29/07/2005 13:57

But I thought they foudnthe New York top discarded in Brixotn somewhere?

Pinotmum · 29/07/2005 13:58

I'm just reading this and am shocked I can't put the news on because my dd will get upset. Every time we go out she asked "is this central London" and "will there be bombs" She's only 4 yo fgs! We live in East London and it's just too close iykwim.

Nbg · 29/07/2005 14:00

Yeah they did. They're saying it's the guy who was wearing it in that picture who's in the flats.

I did have to turn it off for a bit because they were airing recordings of gun shots and didn't think it was the sort of thing dd should be hearing.

OP posts:
Gobbledigook · 29/07/2005 14:00

Pinot - how does your dd know about the bombs? Ds1 is 4 and is completely oblivious (thank goodness) - I don't have news on at all when they are about and I turn the radio off if it talks about something distressing.

Pinotmum · 29/07/2005 14:09

GGD I laugh all the time that I don't know what is going on in the world because we always have Nick Jr or CBeebies on but she has overheard people talking and seen some News coverage when dh switched the tv over. I asked him to watch it away from the children in our room as I don't want her to see it. And of course we know people who have to travel on the trains and the end result is she aware and is scared. She doesn't understand what bombs can do just that they're not nice. This makes me want to cry, it really does, but I just reassure her she's safe in a light hearted way.

Gobbledigook · 29/07/2005 14:10

Ahh, bless her. Will get harder and harder to protect them as they get older won't it?

Yes, we live for Nick Jnr in this house

Pinotmum · 29/07/2005 14:12

I agree, it will get harder as they get older I'll be a wreck no doubt by then.

Distel · 29/07/2005 14:22

My DS is nearly 6 and when he got up one morning a few weeks ago the t.v came on a news channel. He must have listened for a bit and then tured it over. When DH and I got up a bit later he asked me about it and I explained as best as I could without scaring him and then diddn't think much more about it. Later on that day I found him out on our balcony looking up at the sky, he just stayed there for a few minutes and then came inside. When I asked him what he was doing he told me that he was praying to god to keep our family safe from the bad men in London.

It made me cry at the time and I have a tear in my eye writing this now. What kind of a world have I brought my children into .

Pinotmum · 29/07/2005 14:29

Distel that's so sad

Nbg · 29/07/2005 14:34

They've got the guy out now.
