what a twit even my DS's would figure out that leaning a ladder against the branch that you're sawing off is a REALLY bad idea.

I thought so too - brightened my morning anyhow.

FFS

Funny, yes. But not funny that the hotel had to pay over £2000 because they had not done a risk assessment on the dangers of letting Laurel and Hardy prune a tree.

Oh deary me.

Apparently he worked for British Aerospace for 24 years - I seriously hope he wasn't involved in anything remotely technical beyond making the tea (and even then I expect he had to receive training on how to boil a kettle safely)

NorbertDentressangle · 15/04/2010 12:00

oh god, it gets worse -on re-reading the article it seems that there were 2 men involved. You'd think, by law of average, at least one of them would have an ounce of common sense and realise what was going to happen wouldn't you?

MmeLindt · 15/04/2010 12:02

Yes, one of them held the ladder.

Lol at him being teaboy at British Aerospace.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/04/2010 08:15

I've done a similar thing. i was trying to cut a tree down and stood with one foot on a ladder and one on the branch. I sawed between my legs and of course the branch broke. I had a plater of paris on my arm for four weeks.

NorbertDentressangle · 16/04/2010 14:34

Kreecher -I think you should thank your lucky stars you never made the national papers.

(or got head-hunted by British Aerospace!)
