Prick. As if his sodding film is more important than the child Polanski raped. I won't be paying money to see it

Yes. Interesting combination of seizing the moral high ground re. Blair/Iraq, whilst desperately avoiding the issue of child rape. What a moral guy you must be, Robert Harris! We will certainly be taking instruction from you!

What do you expect from a man who dedicated his book 'Cicero' to Lord Mandelson?

It speaks volumes

TheFirstLady · 12/04/2010 20:53

Last time I looked, Peter Mandelson wasn't a child rapist.

Last time I looked, Peter Mandelson wasn't a child rapist.

Did I say he was? - No I didn't. However I do think his judgement is flawed just as his mate Robert Harris's judgment is similarly flawed.

TheFirstLady · 12/04/2010 21:28

By saying that it was not surprising that a man who would dedicate a book to Peter Mandelson would also be prepared to overlook the fact that the film of his book was being directed by a child rapist, you implied some sort of moral equivalence between Peter Mandelson and Roman Polanski. Which is absurd.

WetAugust · 12/04/2010 21:49

You're being absurd to have contorted your comprehension of my thread to imply meanings that were not intended.

I was merely trying to say you can judge a person by the friends they keep. Nuff said.

Yes Ewan MacGregor was thinking of his wallet dodging the questions with a little too much ease (on BBC Breakfast) and actually said he felt sorry for him after arrest...

loungelizard · 12/04/2010 22:41

It is a little odd that he is so vociferous in his criticism of Blair (having been so close to him originally).

And yet now so supportive of Polanski. Very strange.

Either one takes the Moral High Ground or one doesn't......
