Labour, with its much-vaunted moral compass, has shrugged it off, refused to sack him, and he is still their candidate.

"..moral compass.."

Don't make me laugh. How much of a moral compass can Labour have when both of their prime ministers have continually lied to the country over.. well basically everything, lead by example, and we've had two whoppers of morality.

But i'm sure the labour supporters on here will just bypass this thread as they do so often when it's a Labour party member who's being offensive/ discriminatory.

Ooh he sounds thoroughly charming

Granny23 · 09/04/2010 12:04

Just heard on the news that he has been sacked and will be replaced as candidate. It will be difficult to find a decent candidate as this late stage. I expect that their election posters/leaflets will land up in the re-cycling bin.

What a TWITter

Good sense has prevailed. Most excellent.

longfingernails · 09/04/2010 12:33

Thank heavens for that. Sense at last.

Earlier Jim Murphy, the Scottish Secretary, said it was OK for him to apologise and carry on, just because he was young.

Mr Murphy has some egg on his face this afternoon!

Well done Labour for doing the right thing. Shame the tories didn't do the same with Chris Grayling

"Well done Labour for doing the right thing. Shame the tories didn't do the same with Chris Grayling "

It's a lot easier to sack a parliamentary candidate, they are nothing, fodder, if this had been a minister Brown wouldn't have sacked him and the only reason labour have sacked him now is because there is uproar about his comments, they were quite prepared to ignore then for the last 10 months.

You can't compare this to what Grayling said, it's totally different, greyling was of the opinion that a B&B is a home and you can invite who you like into your home he didn't say all gay people are evil and should be annihilated ffs, it was a generalisation not a call to arms.

According to Guido Fawkes this guy was 'sacked' only after he'd resigned...
