Oh no, he was a legend.

:-(

cuddlysoutheastastra · 08/04/2010 19:47

quite shocked by this, but you've spelt his name wrong!

Finbar · 08/04/2010 19:48

I guess it will just be the Oldies on MN who will post here - but I will throw my hat in and say I was quite shocked. I rmemebr having an invite to go to one of his soirees in Camden back in the 80's .....and...turning it down!!! What was I thinking of? Like I'd have soemthing better to do that evening!?? Am still kicking myself now.

BitOfFun · 08/04/2010 19:48

Oh really? I was only talking about him yesterday. Spooky.

bibbitybobbityhat · 08/04/2010 19:49

Did you know him?

OP posts:
Hassled · 08/04/2010 19:59

He was a bit of a twat, but an iconic twat. Very astute, I'd have said.

RunawayWife · 08/04/2010 20:01

How sad

tethersend · 08/04/2010 20:05

How did he die?

BitOfFun · 08/04/2010 20:07

cancer

animula · 09/04/2010 00:06

I'm sad. Iconic. Eccentric. Definitely a bringer of colour and dreams.

rockinhippy · 09/04/2010 11:03

I was saddened too, yes a rogue, if not a arrogant tw@t at times, but a one that had a real impact on fashion & music & the world will be a sadder place without him

OsbegaEthewulf · 09/04/2010 20:25

I am really starting to feel old now (nearly 47) when people I admired/hated/laughed at/lusted after are starting to snuff it. Not sure that M.M was in any of these catagories but he was still an interesting part of my youth...

Kaloki · 10/04/2010 01:40

Wouldn't say I was his biggest fan, but punk did owe him a fair bit. Sad to see him go.

SolidGoldBrass · 10/04/2010 02:28

It's a shame he's gone. I was a teeny bit too young to value his input at the time (am 45) but he was one of those people who made stuff happen.
But a lot of the non-musician icons and important people are going... Swells, Carol Clerk...
