bluecardi · 26/03/2010 11:56

He should have a pen name!

BitOfFun · 26/03/2010 12:08

SNOOOOOORT

I thought it was going to be Pete O'File.

Actually, I bet some hack made that up for a laugh. Deffo.

differentID · 26/03/2010 12:12

oh dear. Maybe that's why he lives in germany, where the association isn't likely to be made?

Poor sod.

SixtyFootDoll · 26/03/2010 12:15

I think someon was having a larf?
Not very funny if they are.

SPBInDisguise · 26/03/2010 12:27

oh dear, I initially just saw the surname and thought, well no big deal, then I saw his first name!

MmeLindt · 26/03/2010 12:28

He is a British journalist in Germany

I have seen his book, Dear Krauts, I think it is called.

BitOfFun · 26/03/2010 12:30

Looks like a pseudonym he's only had for a couple of weeks- probably made it up when planning this article.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/03/2010 12:31

come on,it is funny

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell · 26/03/2010 12:36

Oh no!!!

LadyBlaBlah · 26/03/2010 12:36

lol @ transferable skills

And it is somewhere on the funny scale. Perhaps the Jimmy Carr scale of funny, but still...

BigBadMummy · 26/03/2010 12:40

He is a regular journo at The Times. His name really struck me before but reading it above that story this morning just made me.

He is a real person, has books in the book store and everything.

I think I have read one of his books, he is quite a good writer.

DuelingFanjo · 26/03/2010 13:06

''Alles Klar''!!!!

MissClavel · 26/03/2010 13:09

He is a real person. I was once working on a different broadsheet, on the diary column, and we pointed out the 'unfortunate name' thing when he'd written a similar story (many years ago).

Subsequently heard on the grapevine that he was very VERY upset INDEED about having it pointed out.

(surely you would use a pen name, if only for these stories?)

MmeLindt · 26/03/2010 13:20

Well, it is not surprising that he was a bit upset about it being commented on. He has probably heard enough comments about his name.

GrungeBlobPrimpants · 26/03/2010 13:21

I have been snorting into the keyboard over this. I know in the context it shouldn't be at all funny but... I just couldn't stop laughing

My keyboard got another spatter when I saw he'd written a book called 'Rise of the Sausage'
