because they are really crap all the time and so they are good to rant against?

Probably because it has all the "juicy" gossip on it, rather than just telling the news. It always manages to make a news story more interesting and exciting, and more contentious - even if it isn't actually quite the truth!

But yes, I have noticed that today every other news story or more seems to have a DM link attached to it.

Because I would NEVER buy it in a million and its a filthy guilty pleasure looking at it online

I read it for the gossip and am sometimes distracted by a news story, which may or may not interest me enough to start a thread on.

Sometimes I google to see if the same story is in the Times or Guardian to hide my DM reading habit.

Yes I read the Dm online but pillory my parents for having it delivered and quoting it ad nauseum.

If my mum starts a sentence with 'They say that....' I know she's read it in the DM.

It's POV on lots of things can be vile and how it influences middle England is a little scary but it DOES have the juiciest gossip.

I know I'm a total hypocrite.....

Because they are very clever and know how to boost there ad revenue.

Always always something she has got from the DM. I hate it, so find it hard to even go on the website tbh

...and it's handy to get the background on the stories the MIL will be ranting about come the weekend. Gives me time to construct rebuttals...

Because half if not more of its staff are women, they've probably got mn open in one of their pute windows all the good day long, so they know what will push buttons.

Because then we can go on the DM site and post comments which most DM readers will disagree with?

Because we are their target demographic and they know their business.
