sorry, sympathy and David Beckham don't really go hand-in-hand from my perspective, but then I'm not English and, as usual, will be rooting for any opponents

Meanie

I feel sorry for a sportsperson who will miss out on their last opportunity to participate in their sport's biggest competition

Whoever they are

No you are not the only person who cares on MN notnow - I was looking for a thread earlier.

I am not even a big fan of Beckham, but I feel sad a) that he won't set his record and may never even play again and b) that he won't play for England - he is such a great player and also a charismatic leader of his team that his absence, even as an old crock of 34, will be noted.

Indeed

Sad way for a talented footballer to end their career - through injury

I feel very sad for him too. And i am Irish - we traditionally support any opponent of England!

I feel sorry for him because he was so determined to achieve the fitness required to play for England that he went to Milan purely for that. He is a fantastic talent. Please god he does recover enough to play again.

Coldhands · 15/03/2010 22:16

I feel really sorry for him. He loves playing for England and it is really sad that he cannot play in his last tournament. He is proud to put on the shirt and I feel a lot of sympathy for him.

I read about this earlier, and felt v sorry for him. He is obviously devastated. The team will not be the same without him.

kittya · 16/03/2010 23:46

and, he's very easy on the eye. I feel really sorry for him.

notnowbernard · 17/03/2010 10:37

Yes, there is that, Kittya

Poor bloke
