car plunges into river

It says the boy and man escaped from the car but the girl was rescued 2 hours later from the submerged veichle?

How could she be alive after 2 hours? They say she is critical.

Um. Not sure I want to follow link just now but maybe an air pocket? I have heard this can happen when cars go into water suddenly.

Maybe her condition is critical due to other injuries?

Disenchanted3 · 11/02/2010 15:39

Yes its horrid, please don't open the link if you don't want to, I was on BBC news and had read the headline before I realised its not something I want to read IYKWIM.

he has been arrested, perhaps because he failed to mention her at the time, he was rescued at the time and was fine

wukter · 11/02/2010 16:19

What! failed to mention the poor little thing.

StealthPolarBear · 11/02/2010 16:30

how awful

lostinwales · 11/02/2010 16:35

Grim saying, but you're not dead until you are warm and dead. There have been cases where slowly warming the body back to normal temperature brings the patient back to life. Very unusual though. Not that we know what the case is here either. Poor, poor little mite I hope she's ok.

VengefulKitty · 11/02/2010 16:41

Maybe car wasn't completely submerged? Just partially and therefore she still had head above water?

Poor children

StealthPolarBear · 11/02/2010 16:44

surely the police would have seen her in those circumstances though?

DorotheaPlenticlew · 11/02/2010 16:44

OK, I read it. Poor little sweetpeas.

I hate that so many of these total cunts do things like this to their children. Glad that he himself is still alive to face the music (and that the wee boy is alive).

VengefulKitty · 11/02/2010 16:53

It doesn't say if they did or didn't see her. It give no reason for why she was pulled out so long after. But is does say she was resuscitated...

I guess we won't know until they print more.

welshone51 · 11/02/2010 17:41

Apparently the emergency services had boats on the river and could not see her so it seems that she was entirely emerged the entire time- Sky news also mentioned that the cold could have saved her life, but both her and the little boy are in intensive care!! I hope they pull through!! x

2shoesisboredwithjsthreads · 11/02/2010 18:47

how veruy sad, I do hope the poor little children are ok. the man must have had MH issues.

ouchitreallyhurts · 12/02/2010 08:30

This happened 2 miles from where we live locals are saying that mum and dad argued that morning, the car was out of view and it took a while to find the little girl. Hampton ferry is one of the few places that a car can easily be driven into the water in town so its unlikely to have been accidental.
very very sad, these poor children and if they do pull through (which we are all hoping for) they still have to live with the fact that daddy did this

scanty · 12/02/2010 14:30

they would have known she was in the car as there were several witnesses who saw the children screaming and banging on the windows (what a nightmare for them too). Just awful, hope the children are ol but it's not looking good for the wee girl.

Slartybartfast · 14/02/2010 22:23
