There should have been many more.

Shocking that there are so few prosecutions.

The whole place stinks. One rule for them...

Kevlarhead · 05/02/2010 19:44

Wait! All four of then are claiming that, due to parliamentary privilege, they cannot be charged with anything, because they did nothing wrong.

Seriously, do they have a death wish or something?

mateykatie · 05/02/2010 19:54

This is the sort of crap we have as MPs

He ADMITS, on LIVE TV, that he fiddled his receipt - and then wonders why he is being prosecuted?

scarletlilybug · 05/02/2010 20:05

It's just the three Labour MPs who are claiming parliamentary priviledge, AFAIK.

Alambil · 05/02/2010 23:35

It's pathetic - they should all be up on fraud charges.

Imagine saying to the benefit office "oh well all my mates do it - I didn't KNOW it was wrong" ... ffs

edam · 05/02/2010 23:50

Good grief, mateykatie's MP is really not doing himself any favours there.

Mind you, anyone who thinks he can get away with claiming parliamentary privilege is obviously not the brightest button in the first place...

mateykatie · 06/02/2010 15:37

edam, he's not my MP, thank God. My MP is an expenses fiddler but not one of the worst, will definitely be getting kicked out at the GE.

I am more and more impressed by Keir Starmer, the DPP. Not only is he called Keir which is mighty cool for those of us with left-wing propensities (mighty cool anyway) but he called a halt to the shenanigans of the Met when they put the frighteners on the Tory front bench spokesman (Damien Green?) for daring to embarrass the home office. He's done the best to achieve the right balance over right to die, and is now prosecuting fraudster MPs. Well done that man!

(Shame about BAE, though, but was that a civil matter rather than criminal?)
