I live in the same town as the girl who got pregnant at 11. Not exactly shocking when you looked at the family and the mother who allowed the boyfriend (age 17) to sleep under her roof with her underage child.

Like the idea of an automatic charge of rape and length jail sentence for anyone having sex with a child - perhaps we should try that one here.

Even in the Middle Ages it was illegal for blokes to have sex with girls under 12.

They could marry them...but no sex until she was old enough.

That is horrible. Disgraceful and nasty. I had my dd in Oman and became less and less shocked by the sight of children (12+) who were pregnant. I suppose I managed to justify it to myself as being cultural thing. Reading this has made me ashamed of my changed views.

how many girls that age are even menstruating? i question the actual ages of the girls in the story. i imagine it's also pretty dangerous to give birth at that age.

yikes that is scary stuff. I didn't start menstruating until I was 16! I know they start earlier these days but that's just ridiculous having a baby at the age of 9. Wonder where the father is in all of this though...?
